Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 803: Chapter 802: As Expected, Before Leaving, I Still Have to Say...

”But speaking of which, big brother, what do you plan to do with this thing? Hasn’t Umbrella already spread the virus all over the world?”

”I’m just planning to study it a bit.”

Looking at the briefcase in Little Hei’s hands, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders.

”Although Umbrella’s approach is questionable, I have to admit, their line of thinking is quite unique.”

That’s right, this is also why Fang Zheng had Little Hei steal the ”catalyst”. When coming to this world, due to the influence of movies and games he had watched before, Fang Zheng instinctively believed that Resident Evil was caused by a virus. Even when he examined Rea, Walnut, and others, finding mutations, Fang Zheng also thought it was due to viral invasion and infection.

However, after listening to Wisteria telling Natsuse and the others the ”truth” through his personal terminal, Fang Zheng suddenly realized his line of thinking was off.

Think about it, why assume these mutated virus cells were external rather than innate? In reality, humans have only studied around 2000 of the 20000 genes in the human genome, at most a tenth, which means humans are only slightly more knowledgeable about themselves than completely ignorant.

In this case, why assume this Resident Evil isn’t the result of internal human genes being stimulated to mutate?

On the contrary, Umbrella is able to ”activate” unknown human genes through the ”catalyst” method—although the failure rate is high, once successful, look at Rea, look at those Zombie idols, they hardly have any weaknesses. Their life has been transformed from ”individuals” to a ”collective group”, they have no concept of a ”fatal weakness”, damage to the heart or brain won’t kill them.

It’s like a school of fish in the sea, killing some won’t impact them unless you catch the entire school in one sweep, otherwise they will inevitably return.

And the reason why Fang Zheng is collecting these catalysts is just to go back and see the Zerg and study the principle and method of action, perhaps something good can come out of it.

As for what’s next...

”You should head back first, I need to leave a little memento for this world.”

”Memento?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Little Hei was momentarily stunned, then nodded.

”Okay, big brother, see you later then.”

After saying this, Little Hei waved to Fang Zheng, then turned and walked into the gateway.

Seeing everyone gone, Fang Zheng finally breathed a sigh of relief, then raised his right hand, lifting it upward, accompanied by a flash of white light, the next moment, the Pitch Black Greatsword appeared in Fang Zheng’s hand.

Then Fang Zheng focused on the ground beneath his feet, tightly gripping the sword hilt with both hands and forcefully drove it into the ground below!!

The pitch-black blade effortlessly pierced the earth at Fang Zheng’s feet, soon, pillars of fire shot to the sky, reaching the clouds. The ground began to shake violently, with cracks spreading outward from Fang Zheng in all directions, the seawater started to tremble, and in the sky... was a fiery red glow.

”What on earth happened here?”

Looking at the chaos in front of him and the wreckage scattered everywhere, Wesker’s face was ashen. He came here, following orders from Umbrella’s headquarters, to find a legendary perfect specimen. But when he arrived, everything around was entirely different. The entire base had been utterly destroyed, tanks and aircraft wrecks were everywhere, and the bodies of the Clone Troopers were charred black, looking as if they had gone through a war.

But a war? What a joke, at this time, who could possibly have the ability to war against Umbrella?

”Boom rumble...!!”

Just then, suddenly, the earth began to quake, perceiving this, Wesker furrowed his brows.

”What’s happening?”

”Probably an earthquake, Mr. Wesker.”

The soldier beside him appeared quite calm.

”Japan frequently experiences earthquakes, it’s not unusual.”

”Hmm...”

Hearing the soldier’s words, Wesker was silent for a moment, he felt there was something unusual about this earthquake, but couldn’t pinpoint what. So he quickly refocused his thoughts and promptly issued orders.

”Immediately survey the satellites, I want to know exactly what happened here, and establish communication with headquarters!”

”Yes!!”

Hearing Wesker’s orders, the soldier next to him immediately took out a communicator and began fiddling with it, but as they attempted to establish contact, suddenly, the screen in front of them flickered, followed by a piercing static noise.

”What’s happening?”

”Not sure, sir, communication abruptly cut off... we can’t contact the satellite either...”

”Look, what’s that!!”

At this moment, another soldier suddenly shouted while pointing at the sky, Wesker looked in the direction of his finger, and then his expression drastically changed!!

From the horizon’s edge, fiery red clouds were rolling towards them, looking like blazing flames burning in the sky, or like lava flowing down from a volcanic eruption, surging towards where everyone stood.

”What on earth is that?”

This scene stunned everyone, even Umbrella’s soldiers and Wesker were no exception. They might have become accustomed to mutated Zombies and Creatures, but in the face of nature’s might, they remained so small and insignificant.

The red clouds moved faster than they seemed, and before anyone could react, they had already shrouded the sky. In an instant, everything was enveloped in a dark crimson, making the whole world feel as if it were on fire. The air began to feel scorching and dry.

”What, what on earth is this......?”

”Stay calm!!”

Looking at the panicked soldiers around him, Wesker urgently shouted, then lifted his head to look at the clouds overhead.

”Whatever it is, we need to leave immediately. Get on the plane! Let’s fly above the clouds!”

At that moment, a voice suddenly echoed in the sky.

”Tremble, for the death knell tolls for you! Shiver, for the dirge sings for you! Judgment day has silently descended; all living must pay the price!!”

”What, what is this voice? Who’s speaking?”

Upon hearing this, all the soldiers froze, looking at each other in confusion, unable to comprehend what was happening—though it no longer mattered.

Red sparks began drifting down from the clouds. Initially unnoticed by them, only when the soldiers inadvertently touched the sparks with their skin, causing agonizing pain and screams, did they realize—what appeared to be snowflakes descending from the sky were actually flickering fiery sparks!!

”Quick, let’s get out of here! Everyone onto the plane!!”

At this time, the fierce wind carrying sparks began to howl, and nearby trees and other flammable materials started to catch fire, heating the air intensely. Wesker rushed into the helicopter with large strides, quickly reached the cockpit, and pulled up on the control lever, lifting the helicopter into the sky.

Just as the helicopter took off, the ground suddenly cracked open. Heated flames rushed up from the fissures, violently striking the aircraft with scorching torrents, causing it to wobble and spiral as it flew upward amidst the fiery gusts!

”Dammit, what’s happening!!”

After exerting great effort, Wesker managed to stabilize the aircraft, while everyone inside was tossed around, disoriented.

Fly above the clouds immediately!!

Wesker decided to ignore the chaos for now, focusing on flying above the clouds to escape the calamity, and then... dealing with whatever comes next!

Yet, again, that voice rang out.

”The sky is pitch black, the flames still rage, your resistance is futile, for the wheel of fate has begun to turn!”

”Boom!!!”

Through the window, Wesker saw the ground below burst apart, endless flames erupting everywhere, engulfing the entire surface. Even the distant seawater boiled rapidly, spreading thick steam, soon reducing visibility to Silent Hill levels outside.

”Damn......!”

With no other recourse, Wesker gripped the controls tightly, relying on his memories to continue flying upward, while watching the altimeter. As long as they breach the clouds...

At that moment, a burning cloud suddenly appeared before Wesker’s eyes......

No, to be precise, it was a mass of burning fire.

”No—————!!”

Watching the fire outside rush toward him, Wesker raised his hands in despair to shield himself, but it was futile. The plane lost control and flew into the fiery cloud, where roaring flames shattered the helicopter’s windows, flooding the cabin with fierce fire.

The entire planet began to burst.

The blue planet was surrounded by flames, exploding and burning like fireworks scattering in all directions toward the depths of the universe, burning everything in its path—the Sun, Moon, planets, all without exception.

In the blink of an eye, this world...... was consumed by flames.

”Hah.......”

At the Firelink Altar, Fang Zheng sighed lightly at the red flame representing power. He saw countless firewood rapidly gathering toward the red flame, soon forming a miniature Milky Way above it, comprised of little fiery sparks.

Moreover, Fang Zheng could feel transformations occurring within his own body. As if baptized by fire flames, his cells were reshaping and regenerating, filling him with boundless power, transforming his soul.

Simultaneously, a prompt appeared before Fang Zheng’s system.

[Source of Power +1 Acquired]

[Divine Fire Not Ignited]

Is this a success or a failure?

Frowning at the system prompt, Fang Zheng opened his eyes.

”The flames devour everything, you are exhausted, hopeless—I will uphold justice!”

After saying this, Fang Zheng drew the Pitch Black Greatsword embedded in the ground and strode into the gate of time travel.

Indeed, it feels more thrilling to deliver some lines before leaving.
