System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Risk? Speak clearly!~” Yao Xin’s tone was slightly blunt.

He actually didn’t like the fact that the person negotiating with him across the table was so young.

Lu Cheng cautiously organized his words for nearly ten seconds before carefully saying: ”Actually, it’s not really a risk, just that the time investment cost will be higher. But the rate of return will also be higher.”

Yao Xin remained silent after listening.

Zhang Tiesheng, somewhat impatient with Lu Cheng’s ambiguity, said, ”Lu Cheng, just be more direct, what is it exactly?”

Yao Xin glanced at his nephew and said, ”He’s selling you the future.”

”What he’s doing now has nothing to do with you.”

Lu Cheng immediately replied, ”Dean Yao, this isn’t about selling the future. It doesn’t matter to Brother Zhang if he chooses not to join in.”

”The things Brother Zhang wants to learn, I’ll teach him too.”

Yao Xin couldn’t quite understand where Lu Cheng got his confidence from, or perhaps, how this young man managed to jump back and forth between Union Hospital and Xiangya Hospital at his current age.

But it seemed reality was already like this, and further inquiry was pointless.

Yao Xin couldn’t say whether Lu Cheng really had a so-called future, so he left the choice to Zhang Tiesheng.

Zhang Tiesheng laughed without much hesitation: ”Xiao Lu, don’t think too much. I’m easy to deal with, whether I have it or not doesn’t matter. After all, I’ve already gotten what I needed, what more could I want?”

”In the past, I chose to go to Long County People’s Hospital because it was easier to get a higher position in the county. I figured that being an associate senior was probably my peak.”

Yao Xin coughed, reminding Zhang Tiesheng not to reveal his limitations so easily.

But Zhang Tiesheng had his own insistence: ”Uncle, there’s nothing to hide.”

”If nothing unexpected happens, this is how my life will be.”

Seeing that Zhang Tiesheng wouldn’t listen to the advice, and his phone just happened to ring, Yao Xin said, ”You two chat among yourselves, I’ll take a call.”

”I also have many things to deal with.”

”There are quite a few matters to handle in Feng County.”

Yao Xin understood clearly, either Lu Cheng was playing it safe with both people, or it was because he was still present, keeping Lu Cheng from speaking freely due to caution.

This was a good thing, Lu Cheng could distinguish that he was familiar with Zhang Tiesheng the person, not all of Zhang Tiesheng’s connections.

If Lu Cheng and Zhang Tiesheng’s collaboration needed any help, it would be Zhang Tiesheng leveraging his connections, not Lu Cheng barking orders.

People with such self-awareness usually have decent prospects.

It’s just that kind, who think they have good relations with someone and regard the other’s connections as their own, that you have to watch out for.

Yao Xin put the phone to his ear and went out to take the call, avoiding the conversation.

”Xiao Lu, to be honest, the matters you and Director Du are plotting, I haven’t understood them very well, but I got the gist.”

”But the conversation you just had with my uncle, I really found it confusing,” Zhang Tiesheng asked bluntly.

Lu Cheng also responded bluntly: ”Brother Zhang, Dean Yao wants me to give you some benefits. He feels you helped me a lot this time. But as you know, I really don’t have any spots to allocate now.”

”For instance, there’s really no place for authorship position in papers. It’s not that there really isn’t any place, but even if you join the project group, Brother Zhang, there’s nothing you can do.”

”Brother Zhang, let me put it this way, if I could handle these few projects myself, I wouldn’t be asking for help.”

”The problem is, I can’t handle it myself right now, so I have to find people to borrow strength, borrow money, etc., so I’m also very passive.”

”It’s like starting a business, when someone lends you money, they expect to gain a lot of benefits.”

After speaking, Lu Cheng immediately added: ”Brother Zhang, these words may be blunt, please bear with me.”

Zhang Tiesheng’s expression changed several times, finally comprehending it, and said with a mix of laughter and tears: ”You’re saying I’m too inadequate?”

Lu Cheng didn’t answer directly: ”Director Du also won’t join these project groups.”

”Director Du never thought about these things!”

Zhang Tiesheng laughed: ”I never considered comparing treatment with Director Du Qiang, I’ve never even thought about these things.”

Zhang Tiesheng hesitated to speak further: ”However, I definitely trust you, Xiao Lu. Whatever you give me, I’ll take it. If not, it’s okay, we’re all brothers.”

Zhang Tiesheng valued the technology in Lu Cheng’s hands. As for the articles derived from this technology, Zhang Tiesheng had never given them any mental expectation.

Things not in his mental expectation, whether they exist or not, are irrelevant.

Seizing the opportunity, Lu Cheng told Zhang Tiesheng: ”Brother Zhang, the risk I just spoke with Dean Yao about was somewhat reserved. Now, I need to honestly explain it to you.”

”That is, the projects I want to do in the future might conflict with top teaching hospitals. Specifically, I don’t know who it will conflict with.”

”But some disputes may occur.”

Zhang Tiesheng had a strange expression: ”Conflict? Why?”

Lu Cheng said: ”Brother Zhang, I actually didn’t know before, doing projects is really brutal, more brutal than competing.”

”If the projects are the same, then it’s either you or me, either your money is wasted or my money is wasted.”

”Generally, funding for projects comes from grants. They give you the money, but if you don’t produce results, you might be held accountable... ”

”Of course, it definitely won’t be conflicts like fighting.”

Lu Cheng’s words left Zhang Tiesheng silent.

No need to think deeply, it was clear that what Lu Cheng said exceeded his understanding.
