System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Xiao Lu, Professor Du left just like that, missing out on such a great opportunity?” Tong Yuan’an’s chubby upper body was bobbing up and down, his voice deep.

Lu Cheng replied, ”At least I didn’t let the two teachers go hungry.”

Tong Yuan’an was taken aback, his voice and face slightly distorted, ”You wanted to let people leave on an empty stomach?”

Lu Cheng chuckled, ”I can be quite busy too.”

”Teacher Tong, what are your plans next? Staying in Ji City for a few more days, or heading back?”

”Why don’t you wait for me and we go back together? I might be a bit late, I have to be on duty tomorrow.”

Tong Yuan’an shook his head, ”I’m heading back, if I don’t, who knows what mess things at home will turn into.”

”You can’t wait a few hours, Teacher Tong?” Lu Cheng asked.

Tong Yuan’an snapped, ”I should have taken a sabbatical like Chen Song, shouldn’t have extended my stay in the countryside on my own accord.”

”Let’s not talk about it.”

”By the way, Xiao Lu, Director Du Qiang over there, he’s targeting you, should I step in and say a few words?”

”You two being at odds, it’s ultimately not good for the department.”

In Tong Yuan’an’s view, he couldn’t tell if Du Qiang was acting with Lu Cheng, so even Zhang Tiesheng and the others probably couldn’t guess it.

”Forget it, Teacher Tong, it’s not much longer anyway, I’ll just grit my teeth and get through it.”

”With Director Du acting like this, I feel no guilt at all.” Lu Cheng casually explained.

Tong Yuan’an sighed lightly, ”Your County Hospital is so entangled, I really can’t afford to mess with it.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Cheng knew Tong Yuan’an had some insider information. While leading Tong Yuan’an to the vehicle leaving the high-speed rail station, Lu Cheng asked, ”What instructions does Teacher Tong have then?”

”It’s about that Peng Kun. Now Du Qiang doesn’t want him, he can’t stay in Orthopedics Zone 1 and is forced to relocate to Orthopedics Zone 2.”

”It’s somewhat amusing, isn’t it!”

Lu Cheng contemplated seriously and replied, ”He probably won’t find it intolerable, right?”

”Being backstabbed by his own, the unit with Chen Song is now quite troubled. If Peng Kun can’t prove the authenticity of the data in his thesis, both his journal submission and graduate thesis could get caught.”

”I assume they are back to the drawing board currently.”

”He only graduated not long ago!”

In the graduation defense segment, they only evaluate the writing quality of your thesis. As for whether the data in your thesis was produced by you, the defense committee finds it hard to authenticate.

If Xiang Kuihua truly possesses extremely crucial and detailed evidence and intends to hammer Peng Kun, nobody could quite say Xiang Kuihua is wrong.

A master’s thesis at the university level is supposed to be a high-quality output of one’s own; you can’t earn your degree by just coasting through.

On the road, Lu Cheng hadn’t asked a question when his phone connected to the car’s Bluetooth rang.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Tong Yuan’an saw the note clearly indicating Professor Zhong Junyun, and his eyes darted swiftly. He quickly suggested, ”Xiao Lu, pull over, I’ll avoid the call.”

Lu Cheng directly used the steering wheel to answer, speaking politely, ”Hello, Teacher Zhong.”

Over there, Zhong Junyun, who had no habit of smacking his lips, began with a few lip smacks, ”Xiao Lu, busy, are you? You’re quite mysterious with your disappearance, haven’t contacted me for so long.”

”Teacher Zhong, you know about my situation, currently running between Long County and Ji City, my duties are quite full.”

”Have you had lunch, Teacher Zhong?”

”Just finished lunch, went out for a stroll, thinking I haven’t heard from you in a while, so I called to check on things.”

Zhong Junyun continued, ”How about it, Xiao Lu, have you thought about coming over to my place yet?”

Zhong Junyun’s approach seemed both friendly and ’domineering’, as though he had been discussing with Lu Cheng for quite some time, with a tone suggesting an agreement had been reached, making Lu Cheng momentarily believe he had completed some shady deal with Zhong Junyun.

Slyness and shamelessness should be basic traits of a mature adult, so Lu Cheng replied, ”Teacher Zhong, I don’t know, previously we agreed to get my title raised first.”

”And then find a teacher to boost my credentials.”

Zhong Junyun finally mentioned the key point, ”I’ve been thinking about this matter thoroughly, Xiao Lu, have you ever contemplated this: How about transferring to our E Province system first?”

”Then you could be temporarily stationed at either En City or one of the prefecture-level city hospitals.”

”It wouldn’t affect your promotion prospects, while at the same time enabling research work to start earlier.”

”On my end, I’ve already discussed with Xiao Han, in the future, our development direction can primarily follow your opinions, Xiao Lu.”

”We’re all part of a team.”

Tong Yuan’an’s expression was particularly astonished, as he was one of the informed parties, otherwise he certainly wouldn’t understand the hidden meaning in Zhong Junyun’s words.

What the heck?

The competition ended just yesterday, and Zhong Junyun’s already doing sit-ups on someone else’s body?

This is the true master negotiator?

Lu Cheng unhesitatingly said, ”Teacher Zhong, that’s not right, hadn’t we already agreed before?”

”I’m deeply grateful for Teacher Zhong’s previous guidance and support, but I’ll probably be working in the Emergency Department in the future.”

Zhong Junyun was equally straightforward, ”Since you’ve thanked me, is it going to be just verbal thanks?”

”Or do you think that sending some gifts to Xie Xiao’s family counts as repaying me?”

”Even parents and children need clear accounts, right? You didn’t ask for my opinion on this matter.”
