System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”But you should understand a few points: your perspective is too limited to Xiang Province. Certainly, Xiangya Hospital is the best platform there.”

”However, if you look nationwide, there are many places with platforms better, wider, and freer than those for hand surgery and orthopedics at Xiangya Hospital.”

”Do you understand what this freedom means?”

Lu Cheng listened patiently and then replied with a forced smile: ”Teacher Cao, are you trying to educate me or give me a popular science lesson?”

Lu Cheng’s tone wasn’t very good.

To be honest, Cao Qiheng had almost forgotten the name Lu Cheng. If Lu Cheng hadn’t become a hot topic in the small circles at Huashan Hospital, prompting Cao to retrieve information about him from his memory, he wouldn’t have remembered Lu Cheng at all.

Even if he did remember, Cao Qiheng’s first reaction was to call and catch up, never expecting Lu Cheng to be ”a bit difficult”!

Cao Qiheng didn’t ask about what happened before; there was no past, and there isn’t now.

Cao Qiheng is a person with high logical thinking and intelligence, and quickly got to the core: ”Lu Cheng, are you harboring too many grievances about the previous retake?”

”So many years have passed, and retracing the past is meaningless. We should look forward.”

Lu Cheng said, ”Since Teacher Cao understands this principle, there was no need to call me.”

”I’ve always been looking forward without any intention of looking back.”

”Nor am I immersed in the past so that I can’t extricate myself.”

Cao Qiheng took a heavy breath, realizing that Lu Cheng was very calm, calm enough to immediately dissect and counter parts of his intentions.

”Lu Cheng, life’s path is long and winding, and comparatively speaking, only cooperation, benefits, and win-win situations matter; it’s hard to determine the actual right or wrong of an individual thing.”

”When we think about problems, we focus on the issue, not the person, and we don’t target a single unit or other attributes of this person.”

”At present, if Lu Cheng is willing, the platform at Huashan Hospital should be a good place for you to fully use your skills, isn’t it?”

”And looking nationwide, there are not many platforms that can compare to our hospital’s orthopedics department.”

”Additionally, our hospital places great importance on the development of hand surgery, more so than Jishuitan, and offers more resource allocation!”

Lu Cheng does not deny this point.

With an academician in Huashan Hospital’s hand surgery department, the hospital naturally allocates a lot of resources to it; even the entire orthopedics department’s resources get at least half absorbed by hand surgery.

Lu Cheng replied, ”Teacher Cao, I think you’ve got a few points wrong.”

”First, I’m on duty and should do my duty well.”

”Second, no matter how good the platform at Huashan Hospital is, it’s merely an objective fact to me, its excellence has nothing to do with me.”

”I have made no contributions or assists at Huashan Hospital, and when I was lost, it did not help me.”

”So, in my perspective, everything you said does not exist.”

”Third, I am no longer an orthopedic doctor and will not return to orthopedics, so what you said about Huashan Hospital’s emphasis and resource allocation to hand surgery only makes me avoid it further.”

Cao Qiheng interrupted, his tone slightly altered: ”You’re not planning to enter hand surgery? Then what do you intend to do?”

Lu Cheng said, ”Teacher Cao, I don’t think it’s necessary for me to explain this to you in detail, right?”

”It’s my personal choice of profession.”

”I’m on duty; do you have any other matters? If not, I’m going to hang up!”

”Lu Cheng, wait a moment!” Cao Qiheng interrupted again.

”Lu Cheng, do you have any thoughts or grievances, or anything else you would like to chat about or discuss with me?”

”Consider it out of boredom.”

Lu Cheng laughed so hard his voice broke: ”Teacher Cao, I’m on duty, how could I be bored?”

Cao Qiheng intended to use a direct question to obtain the answer he wanted: ”Do you feel that the retake process wasn’t fair, and do you have any thoughts on this? How much impact did it have on you?”

The time is too far back; everyone only remembers the students who passed the retake from the affiliated hospital, not those who failed.

Even if Cao Qiheng went to inquire, he wouldn’t find anything.

For instance, many second and fourth places in competitions are only recorded online; everyone remembers the champion.

”Teacher Cao, past events cannot be pursued.”

”I need to be on duty. This is the fourth or fifth time I’m emphasizing this to you, Teacher Cao. If you don’t have any formal matters, please don’t disrupt my work.” Lu Cheng could also wield the weapon of moral coercion.

Does Cao Qiheng have relatively important matters? Yes and no.

However, Cao Qiheng saw a lot of messages in the group, and as someone from Huashan Hospital, he was acutely aware of the benefits and legacy brought by original techniques.

The limb replantation surgery was originally created by Chen Zhongwei, an old academician, at Modu Hospital and later brought to Huashan Hospital by Elder Chen, still making the hand surgery department a ”sanctuary”!

It has always been this way.

If leading trends are desired, only original and developmental research is the core competitiveness.

Having reaped such benefits, Huashan Hospital is more aware than many other hospitals of the advantages brought by original research.

”Lu Cheng, you can negotiate terms, any terms!” Cao Qiheng said.

Lu Cheng raised his voice: ”If it’s not a transaction, then there are no terms.”

”Teacher Cao, what exactly do you want to do?”
