System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Xiao Lu. Where are you now?” Tong Yuan’an called Lu Cheng, with a very sneaky tone.

Lu Cheng had just arranged the next meeting time with Zhang Xibei, who took a taxi to Feng County and had just finished getting in the car.

In a good mood, Lu Cheng replied, ”I’m in Ji City, Professor Tong.”

”Here’s the thing, I have an urgent matter to deal with you, and I’m giving you a heads-up in advance.”

”I’m being held up by a boss who insists on bringing me to meet you personally,” Tong Yuan’an said.

”I’m currently on my way from Long County to Ji City in a black car.”

Lu Cheng: ”Boss? Held up? What do you mean?”

Tong Yuan’an then organized the details of the situation once again.

The one calling Tong Yuan’an was Professor Du Lianshan from the Hand Surgery Department of Huashan Hospital. Professor Du wanted to meet Lu Cheng in person.

Coincidentally, Tong Yuan’an had a very close friend developing in Shanghai, and they had injured their hand falling off a scooter, so Tong Yuan’an sought out Professor Du Lianshan for help once.

And before Du Lianshan was promoted to associate professor, he had also gone to Huashan Hospital for further study, and his mentor was precisely Professor Du Lianshan.

Even those at Xiangya Hospital have to go out for further study if they want to be promoted.

”I originally thought Professor Du could just contact you by phone, but he said a phone call doesn’t show enough sincerity, and he found out that our hospital doesn’t have a direct connection with you.”

”He insisted on meeting you in person and asked me to arrange the introduction,” Tong Yuan’an said.

”I was amazed, if our boss had such execution, you would’ve joined us a long time ago.”

Lu Cheng didn’t refute Tong Yuan’an’s words.

Compared to Xiangya and Xiangya Second Hospital, the professors at Union Hospital and Huashan Hospital have very strong execution.

Of course, they offer benefits quite straightforwardly and are equally direct when giving up on or using you, leaving you unprepared.

”Teacher Tong, since you’re introducing them, I will definitely meet them.”

”But I need to go to the lab first, and after you meet with that professor, please call me promptly.”

”Even if a deal doesn’t work out, there’s still the bond of friendship, and guests from afar, especially honored ones, shouldn’t be neglected.”

”I will definitely come to pick you up first thing,” Lu Cheng said.

On the phone, Lu Cheng could certainly play it cool, but since people had come all the way to Ji City, even if they weren’t on good terms with Lu Cheng, as long as they were peers and not nefarious, he had to show proper hospitality.

This is what Mu Nanshu had taught Lu Cheng, an essential etiquette in teaching hospitals.

This includes but is not limited to those with less experience or lower rank; as long as they are not significantly below your level and from an external hospital, they should be warmly welcomed.

”Alright, I got in the car just now, just wanted to give you a heads-up so you’re not caught off guard,” Tong Yuan’an said.

”Sorry, I really couldn’t decline.”

Lu Cheng said, ”It’s alright, Teacher Tong! ~”

Tong Yuan’an continued, ”Xiao Lu, I think it’s better to directly talk about some issues, which might make you feel more comfortable.”

”From now on, the sky’s the limit, no need to be tangled up by them.”

Lu Cheng said, ”Teacher Tong, I am no longer struggling with them. I already know the result, and I don’t dwell on the past. Now, I just want to take the path that suits me best.”

”Whether it’s Huashan Hospital or Union Hospital, they are just platforms. Ultimately, reliance is on oneself.”

”The support capacity of the platforms doesn’t differ all that much.”

”How much difference can Huashan Hospital, Union Hospital, or Xiangya Hospital offer? In the end, isn’t it all on oneself?”

Long County and Xiangzhou People’s Hospital can’t even compare to these hospitals.

But to say there’s a big gap between Xiangzhou People’s Hospital and other top city hospitals in Xiang Province would be nonsense.

Having a relatively good platform is enough for you to perform.

Even an academician isn’t a solo star of just one hospital or university.

All top-level universities have the ability to support you to the pinnacle of the nation and even the world.

”That’s true,” Tong Yuan’an unilaterally hung up the phone.

Lu Cheng continued to take Mu Nanshu to the laboratory.

In the passenger seat, Mu Nanshu was slightly nervous, but she didn’t use Lu Cheng’s name or any other titles: ”Are you nervous?”

”A little, definitely not as calm as talking with Professor Tong.”

”But the obsession from a few months ago is gone because those I’ve mentored have all proven themselves.”

”Furthermore, just by learning the techniques I developed, they managed to outperform the superiors of a few of my classmates.”

”The contrast of this result is already enough.”

”Though very few people know about it, as long as we know, it’s sufficient.”

”Time can’t be rewound, what happened can’t be undone. Being at peace with oneself is enough.”

Mu Nanshu said, ”Yes, we’ve done everything we could.”

Lu Cheng replied, ”Thank you for walking so far with me and quietly being a shrewd girl.”

If it weren’t for Mu Nanshu’s confession yesterday, Lu Cheng really wouldn’t have known that Mu Nanshu had used a foreign IP to work on a Huashan Hospital paper while abroad.

”Afraid?” Mu Nanshu asked with a smile, looking at Lu Cheng.

Her mindset had also become clear.

Lu Cheng’s excellence had already surpassed peers nurtured through normal, ordinary paths.

Although it is speculated that if Lu Cheng had received formal training earlier, his achievements now might be even greater.
