System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng glanced at Tong Yuan’an, who quickly lowered his chubby face: ”Hehehe, Xiao Lu, don’t mind me speaking out of turn, I won’t say anything more.”

Du Lianshan and Cao Qiheng’s expressions twitched upon hearing these words.

The funny thing is, regarding Lu Cheng’s re-examination year, there were only application manuals left, without specific scores for each candidate.

Perhaps they exist, but they haven’t bothered to check.

On the official website’s notice, there was only a list of people for the re-examination, without any ranking.

Only within the department would they rank initial scores of different years from highest to lowest.

”This… hmm? Xiao Lu, firstly, I’m very sorry, I’m not very clear about the details of this matter.” Du Lianshan said.

Lu Cheng replied, ”It’s okay, Teacher Du, there are many who want to study at Huashan Hospital. In our year, there were a total of twelve people.”

”There were three spots for guaranteed admission, leaving nine people to inevitably withdraw regretfully.”

Du Lianshan said, ”Dr. Lu, you must feel regret, right? Have you ever thought about patching up this regretful past with a belated attempt?”

Lu Cheng laughed and responded nonchalantly, ”Teacher Du, do you really think all I have left is regret?”

Lu Cheng’s words left Du Lianshan a little bewildered, as he never expected such a response from Lu Cheng.

As Du Lianshan and Cao Qiheng exchanged glances in confusion, Lu Cheng finally shook his head, took a deep breath, and said, ”I guess the teachers have forgotten the arrogant words a loser like me said in front of all of you back then?”

With Lu Cheng’s reminder, Du Lianshan was suddenly flustered: ”That was you who said that phrase during your year?”

Du Lianshan’s words revealed that he only remembered the phrase, only remembered that it happened, but had no recollection of which year or who said it.

The professors and mentors at Huashan Hospital only had brief encounters with Lu Cheng during the quick re-examination.

Even if Lu Cheng behaved somewhat aggressively after failing the re-exam, in their eyes, he was merely an impotent joke.

A joke is something you hear, laugh about, and then forget.

Lu Cheng nodded, ”Yes, Teacher Du, I’m still just an undergraduate with a bachelor’s degree, no postgraduate study, no mentor to guide me, no thesis production.”

”But, I might, perhaps, probably, have done what I said back then, outdoing my peers and classmates.” Lu Cheng’s voice was somewhat composed yet aggressive.

This statement left Tong Yuan’an stunned.

Because it was a secret that even Lu Cheng hadn’t told him.

Lu Cheng really was daring.

Du Lianshan’s expression became a bit more serious, while Cao Qiheng frowned, trying hard to recall the exact words Lu Cheng had said back then.

But it was something from so long ago, amidst his own myriad experiences, he truly couldn’t remember what Lu Cheng had said.

In fact, this matter didn’t even matter to Cao Qiheng, it had no memorable points.

Du Lianshan, who has seen much of the world, said, ”So, we came here for nothing, Dr. Lu, you indeed achieved it.”

”And better than back then!” Du Lianshan’s voice was calm, without any anger, nor did he feel upset.

He had seen this play of ”thirty years east of the river, thirty years west” many times, not just here with Lu Cheng.

In fact, he knew of many more severe examples than Lu Cheng’s slap in the face.

But the rules of Huashan Hospital have always been this way, never changed, focusing on individual accumulation at the time.

”Not really!”

”Teacher Du, I don’t think I’ve done better than what I said. During this period, I’ve regretted, I’ve tried to give up those so-called wild words.”

”But it was useless, slow at one step, slow at every step.”

”Learning in practice is so different from studying during undergrad.”

”Of course, having gone through all these experiences, I found a path I like and that suits me.”

”As they say, a good horse doesn’t return to old pastures. Since I know my path and fate, I won’t force much else.”

Lu Cheng said, ”Ultimately, no matter how much I say or do now, I’m still just a postgraduate exam failure, and this identity won’t change by any matter.”

”It’s already a fixed fact in the annals of history.”

”Though it’s a fixed fact, it won’t nail down my future, I’m still myself, I can still continue moving forward.”

”Failing once doesn’t mean failing an entire life, the postgraduate exam is just one challenge among many crossroads in life.”

”I can’t influence the grand scheme, but what I can do is, follow my own interests and keep going.”

”As long as I don’t starve, have a bite to eat, it’s enough.”

Lu Cheng’s candidness was practically laying his heart bare.

Lu Cheng indeed expressed his truest thoughts and also did what he most wanted to do.

Even if he didn’t do it personally, Lu Cheng was content with the present.

”Dr. Lu, isn’t there still a chance? As they say, no acquaintance without a fight, you still haven’t secured a stable position, my sincerity is very genuine.” Du Lianshan still tried to persuade.

Lu Cheng’s tone was indifferent: ”Orthopedics, I’m not going back.”

”However, my skills, maybe future projects, scientific research results will go there.”

Cao Qiheng couldn’t help but tremble a bit upon hearing Lu Cheng’s confident tone: ”Dr. Lu is still so confident, huh.”
