System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Upon turning around and seeing Lu Cheng, she pretended to smile casually and walked towards him: ”Good evening, Dr. Lu. Are you on duty tonight?”

Lu Cheng said: ”Hello, Director. How come you suddenly came to inspect our emergency department today?”

The reason Lu Cheng recognized her was because Xiao Minzhi joined the unit the same year as him, and they had team-building activities for new employees.

”Dr. Lu, are you also on guard against me?”

”A leader is a leader, and we’re just the small fry.” Xiao Minzhi was in administration, and clinical staff often had ’hostility’ towards administrative personnel!

But administrative decisions came from the leaders, and she, as a staff member, was only responsible for executing the leaders’ ’decisions’ and orders.

Xiao Minzhi was from the personnel department, with a good image, tall and slender, wearing light makeup, looking very intellectual, mature, and generous: ”And actually, I’m here today to meet with you privately, Dr. Lu.”

”Xiao Minzhi, why don’t you take a seat in the office? Would you like tea or water? Or should I buy a drink? I’ll just finish up some surgery notes, and we can chat?” Xiao Minzhi was younger than Lu Cheng.

”No need to be so formal, Dr. Lu. I’ll just sit for a while and then leave.”

”I was also temporarily assigned to work overtime, we’re all just small fry, nothing we can do.” Xiao Minzhi didn’t bring any documents, just came empty-handed with Lu Cheng into the doctor’s office.

Du Daihua was on the night shift in the ward, and after eating, he had nothing to do and was already lying in the rest room.

The previous surgical patient’s course records and the like were all written by Du Daihua, but he didn’t know how to perform limb replantation surgery and wasn’t familiar with the surgical procedures, so he only set up a template for the surgery notes, which Lu Cheng had to complete.

Lu Cheng poured a glass of water for Xiao Minzhi: ”Xiao Minzhi, what brings you to see me today?”

”Today is Saturday, and your personnel department is still working overtime?”

Xiao Minzhi put her phone and cup on the table: ”Lu Cheng, just joking around, but it’s all because of you that I had to rush over to work overtime.”

”Our Director Tao called me an hour ago to come to the emergency department to talk to you.”

”Lu Cheng, you’ve been here for quite a while, right? You’re about to get promoted to deputy high-level soon, but actually, the leadership also knows you’re at odds with Director Du Qiang of the emergency department.”

”Director Du Qiang has talked to our Director Tao of the personnel department many times, saying he wants to replace you because you’re restless...”

”After discussing with the leaders of the medical department, Director Tao’s idea is, why not transfer you back to orthopedics?”

”You’re originally from orthopedics, and you are indeed a valuable talent for our hospital.” Xiao Minzhi said it implicitly.

After hearing this, Lu Cheng felt relieved. He almost thought that the personnel department of Long County People’s Hospital had connections everywhere. Without anyone attending the microsurgery skills competition, they could find out the insider news and specifically come to chat with him.

”Director Xiao, you’re not aware, I didn’t feel comfortable in orthopedics before, so I came to the emergency department.”

”I just didn’t expect that the emergency department would be just as hard to handle. I definitely won’t go back.” Lu Cheng responded insincerely.

Xiao Minzhi shook her head: ”Lu Cheng, actually, we all know your ability. You passed the state’s selection exam, so your capability isn’t in doubt.”

”Lu Cheng, you are also aware that our hospital’s overall strength is not very strong. Recently, many incidents have happened, and many departments have suffered severe setbacks.”

”Including, but not limited to, your emergency department and the orthopedics department, but regardless of personnel changes, we are all responsible for the health of the county’s residents.”

”In such a situation...”

Lu Cheng stopped typing, turned around, and interrupted: ”Xiao Minzhi, are you here to vouch for me?”

Xiao Minzhi bitterly smiled and said: ”Well, let’s skip the formalities. The leadership of our personnel department sent me to keep you here. This is the task given to me, or else I’ll lose my bonus.”

”What should I do, Dr. Lu? Our salary isn’t much as it is.” Xiao Minzhi’s voice was somewhat pitiable.

Lu Cheng rolled his eyes: ”Your work is easy, earning the hospital’s average performance, isn’t that a lot already? Our emergency department’s comprehensive performance can’t even match yours.”

”What can we do?”

Xiao Minzhi said: ”Lu Cheng, are you really determined to leave?”

Lu Cheng nodded, responding insincerely: ”To be realistic, people strive to move up. To be fair, it’s hard to survive here, there’s no choice.”

Xiao Minzhi gently nodded: ”Actually, Lu Cheng, I can understand you. I didn’t want to come, but you know, we all have to work, and we can’t refuse the orders and tasks from our superiors.”

”So I still have to follow through with the procedure.”

”I believe you also know, there’s a vacancy for a deputy high-level position in the first orthopedics unit, and it’s a highly effective one. Considering the comprehensive abilities of all employees in our hospital, probably only you can barely fill the vacancy.”

”Moreover, even if we want to recruit people, it’s not easy to find a competent director-level expert.”

”The hospital means that if you’re willing to return to orthopedics, you will definitely be given priority in training. The previous issues you encountered will not happen again.”

”Currently, Deputy Director of Orthopedics, Xiang Kuihua, has also conveyed this intention to us!”

”In fact, Director Tao gave me this task at the request of Director Xiang.”

Peng Haibo was capable, and his absence weakened the orthopedics department considerably, which is an undeniable fact.

If Peng Haibo had no ability, he wouldn’t have been able to hold the director’s position even with the opportunity.

Moreover, Xiang Kuihua had extensive connections, and as the current acting director of Orthopedics One, he naturally could gather a lot of information.
