System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”Not allowed to innovate?”

Tan Zhongyuan added meaningfully, ”Clinical practice doesn’t allow random innovation, but innovating in a competition shouldn’t be illegal, right?”

As soon as Tan Zhongyuan said this, Tian Wen and Tao Zexi immediately looked at this seasoned old cynic.

Hearing this, it was clear that Tan Zhongyuan and Lu Cheng had a close relationship. Probably before the competition, Tan Zhongyuan had already anticipated all of this.

”Director Tan, with such situations, you didn’t even notify us in advance. You’re quite a black-bellied brother.”

”If you had even given us a little heads up, we could have had more time to prepare.” Tao Zexi complained and then said to Professor Tian Wen, ”Director Tian, I think this time the results are strange enough to stimulate everyone’s innovative capabilities, making Hua Country’s medical technology more vibrant.”

”After all, flowers growing in a greenhouse, teams that always stay in comfort zones, can’t stand being shaken up.”

”What do you think?”

Of course, Tian Wen didn’t dare refute Professor Tao Zexi’s words, ”You guys are hosting the competition, you should handle it yourselves.”

”The real results, of course, need to be given.”

”Director Tan, is there a chance to share the contact information of Dr. Lu Cheng? I’d like to see if I can persuade him.”

”This kind of original talent, if he can change his obsession, would greatly benefit the overall development of our surgical department.”

Tan Zhongyuan immediately agreed, ”No problem, if Director Tian can persuade Dr. Lu Cheng, I will surely thank you in person.”

Tian Wen gave Tan Zhongyuan a sidelong glance, pretending not to understand, but thought to herself that the person she would persuade may not necessarily be the one for him.

...

Xie Yuan’an’s performance was so outstanding that her relationship with Professor Xie Xiao from the Union Hospital’s surgical department was quickly uncovered.

So, some people were probing for information from Professor Xie Xiao.

”My daughter was just lucky this time, she was willing to spend time learning, nothing much besides that!” Xie Xiao clearly stated her stance.

Professor Zhong Junyun from Union Hospital was nowhere to be found, another elder stayed behind in Han City and didn’t come, leaving Xie Xiao unable to avoid confronting other surgical and non-surgical colleagues.

”Dr. Lu Cheng’s contact information? I’m not in a position to give it, Dr. Lu is quite busy recently and it’s inconvenient for him to have much contact with others.” Xie Xiao politely declined some requests for contact information.

”Yes, all of this was pre-arranged, and before this, the professors at Xiangya Second Hospital in Xiang Province had already confirmed these techniques with Dr. Lu Cheng.”

”A project is currently underway.”

”The specific progress of the project? I’m not very clear, you might want to contact the professors at Xiangya Second Hospital, I’m not in the loop on this...”

”Sigh, what does my daughter know about general surgical procedures, she’s just a loafer that I keep by my side to prevent her from making big mistakes.”

Thinking of swaying Xie Yuan’an over to general surgery, they were certainly mistaken, Xie Xiao knew her daughter’s capabilities well and wouldn’t dare to let her go out on her own.

”...”

”Xiao Lu, you’ve been getting a lot of calls, what are you up to, it’s like you stirred a hornet’s nest.”

”Who is it?” Zhang Tiesheng watched as Lu Cheng answered calls one after another and then turned people down.

Curious about what Lu Cheng was up to, his ears growing callused in the process.

”Some teachers I don’t know.” Lu Cheng replied upon re-entering the office after finishing another call.

”Teachers you don’t know calling you? Don’t tell me they’re associate professors or professors or something?” Zhang Tiesheng scratched his head, his tone slightly jealous.

Lu Cheng didn’t reply, just nodded.

Zhang Tiesheng adjusted his dark circles and began scratching his head vigorously again, ”Xiao Lu, what are you planning? No, what the heck did you do?”

”Just doing the things I’m doing now?” Lu Cheng replied with a smile.

Of course, Zhang Tiesheng had a rough idea of what Lu Cheng was doing. He quietly asked, ”Xiao Lu, is this suturing technique of yours really something impressive?”

”I heard from a friend that they saw Professor Chen Song in Ji City.”

Chen Song is merely an associate professor, surely many people know him, but not that many.

If he intentionally kept a low profile in Ji City, he wouldn’t be spotted by anyone, but since he made an appearance at the State People’s Hospital and performed surgery, it was impossible for no news to get out.

Zhang Tiesheng, being well-informed, immediately thought it might be Lu Cheng stirring things up when he first heard that Professor Chen Song, who was supposed to have returned to Xiangya Second Hospital, was in Ji City.

Being able to retain an associate professor for a project was certainly not a trivial matter. The practical significance of this technique was even more impressive than he initially anticipated.

”Brother Zhang, when you study, I will definitely have nothing to hide.” Lu Cheng assured him.

Zhang Tiesheng said, ”Xiao Lu, that’s not what I meant.”

”Well, since this project is so immense, let me ask you something.”

”Ah, I’m going to be shameless here, do you think I could pick up some leftovers?”

”Any scraps will do. Even getting published in a provincial journal would make me considered a specialized academic talent in our hospital.”

In County Hospitals, it’s not that they don’t value research, is it that everyone doesn’t want to publish?

It’s that they can’t get published; they simply don’t know the right way to do it!

Lu Cheng gently rejected but was quite tactful, ”Brother Zhang, I’m still being mentored myself, and our target journals are not provincial or core journals, so your name can’t be included yet.”

The wrinkles on Zhang Tiesheng’s face deepened as he said, ”I’m not talking about now, right?”

”Next year, the year after, it’s not too late either.”

Zhang Tiesheng said, ”Xiao Lu, no more words. From now on, you’re my big brother, my mentor, nobody else’s word will count.”

”Brother Lu!”

”cibucibu…cibucibu…” Zhang Tiesheng exaggeratedly rolled his tongue, emitting a rather irritating licking sound.
