System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

”It’s alright, Teacher Tong, let me help you. At this point, please don’t try to be strong.”

Mu Nanshu supported Tong Yuan’an through the door and said, ”Teacher Tong, give me your ID card. I’ll go register you right away. You head directly to the surgery clinic entrance...”

”What’s going on here?” The triage nurse had already received orders from the hospital and stepped out from the triage desk, seeing Tong Yuan’an in a disheveled state, she quickly approached to assist him.

Once an accident happens, if it can prevent a death, it might fundamentally change the nature of it.

”A non-contact car accident, could you please take my teacher to the surgery clinic? I’ll go register him. Thank you, sister.” Mu Nanshu swiftly handed Tong Yuan’an over to the triage nurse.

”Did you come from the scenic area?” Feng County isn’t large and having received an order, the triage nurse promptly asked.

”Yes.” Mu Nanshu had already gone to the surgery registration window.

As Mu Nanshu placed the ID card down and was about to open the payment code, the cashier inside said: ”You don’t need to pay the registration fee now. Go for the examination quickly, don’t waste time.”

”When other patients from the 120 emergency service arrive, your examination might get delayed. While it’s still not busy, get the exams done early.”

”Alright, then I’ll bind my teacher’s ID card and handle the payment in the system.”

When Lu Cheng arrived at the surgery clinic, Tong Yuan’an had already undergone a preliminary examination. Han Gaofeng carefully suggested, ”If you’re really worried, it’s recommended to do an abdominal ultrasound and a head CT!”

”Alright, no problem, let’s get it done first.” Tong Yuan’an himself was worried about his condition.

Being a doctor himself, he understood such expenses.

Compared to money, Tong Yuan’an felt that his life was much more important. Should there be any hematoma, it shouldn’t escalate to an uncontrollable super emergency.

Han Gaofeng quickly ordered two tests, drafted the main examination items on a handwritten form and marked ST in red before handing it to Tong Yuan’an: ”Do the CT first, then the ultrasound, and return here after completing them.”

”We have other doctors here who will attend to you.”

”Are you sure you don’t experience dizziness, visual disturbances, or severe abdominal pain?” Han Gaofeng asked cautiously again.

Tong Yuan’an thought seriously for a moment and then shook his head: ”No, I don’t.”

”Alright, go ahead with the examination, and family members please take care. I’d suggest using a wheelchair, which you can borrow free of charge from the triage desk outside.” Han Gaofeng advised.

Only then did Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu lead Tong Yuan’an outside.

According to Tong Yuan’an’s current symptoms, it can be confirmed that there is no intracranial hematoma, no major internal bleeding, and no fractures or dislocations. A wheelchair is not needed now; checking and ruling out hidden injuries is the priority.

Tong Yuan’an entered the CT room alone, while Lu Cheng and Mu Nanshu exchanged a glance, exhibiting a faint bitter smile.

Lu Cheng said, ”Didn’t expect to encounter such an incident while on an outing, it scared me so much my scalp went numb.”

Mu Nanshu actually felt the same fear, at that time, whoever the driver hit was unlucky, although Mu Nanshu felt fortunate as Lu Cheng quickly grabbed her to take the stairs, hence escaping danger.

Yet witnessing such an event on scene still caused tension throughout, even now recalling it makes Mu Nanshu feel her blood flowing backward and her cerebral cortex in a state of fearful stress.

”Me too, scared out of my wits.”

”Let’s pray Professor Tong stays safe.” Mu Nanshu closed her eyes.

While they were waiting, suddenly, a commotion erupted from the direction of the emergency room: ”It’s over, it burst!”

”Press it down. Press it down.”

”Can’t hold it anymore.”

”Gauze.”

”Can’t find the bleeding point.”

”Patient’s in shock.”

”...”

After Lu Cheng listened to all this, he stepped a few steps closer to the commotion and heard the noise pause altogether.

Then, two white coats splattered in blood emerged from the door, dispersing the crowd: ”I’ll go clean up, you guys quickly push the body out.”

”There will be others coming over soon!”

”Fill out the death certificate, time of death, 10:39 AM, cause of death, traumatic hypovolemic shock.”

As the middle-aged man’s words fell, a stretcher splattered with even more blood was pushed out from the emergency room.

The two nurses and a doctor pushing the stretcher were also stained with blood: ”Take it to the morgue, Dr. Lu?”

”Yes. Did you get the death certificate?” the one called Dr. Lu asked.

”It’s available at the nurse’s station. Go grab a copy of the ’Medical Death Certificate’, but for the basic patient information, we might need to wait for the police to come and confirm.” said the nurse pushing the stretcher.

When the three of them swiftly passed by, pushing the body, Lu Cheng recognized him as one of the patients he had briefly seen moaning on the ground at the scene.

Back then, he must have been in extreme pain, but now he’s no longer suffering.

By the time Lu Cheng freed his hands, the patient had already been placed on a stretcher. Perhaps there was a delay in the 120 ambulance, making him arrive at the hospital a bit later than Lu Cheng and others.

As the stretcher passed by, no one realized that Lu Cheng had seen or recognized him.

After Mu Nanshu and others walked by, she whispered: ”This person was the furthest distance away, yelling the most fiercely, I thought he was alright.”

”Some hospitals’ practices against common sense might not be entirely irrational, because in that specific situation, he was relatively mild. After all, he could shout out.”
