Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 648: Chapter 648: Successfully Recaptured

Having set the attack strategy, the West Fifth Army rested for a day and immediately took action, launching attacks on several bypassed cities.

They also left some soldiers in East View City for training and defense, preparing to recapture the remaining parts of the Long Boots Region.

With the help of the Striped Guardian Clan and the Elf Priest, the West Fifth Army captured cities much more easily than anticipated, even setting a record of conquering a city guarded by nearly ten thousand soldiers with just three thousand men in two hours.

Luo Ze Empire’s intelligence network was incredibly strong, and this year’s unstoppable momentum of the West Fifth Army had already spread throughout several cities guarded by the Luo Ze Empire.

Among them, Potato Thorn, who dyed his hair in various colors, became a topic of discussion in the military during leisure time.

“Have you heard? General Pirov actually suffered a defeat under that Colorful-haired Masked Man.”

“I think in terms of strength alone, the Colorful-haired Masked Man is definitely no match for General Pirov.”

“Of course, but let’s admit it—he completely overwhelmed General Pirov with his skills and agility. I heard from a good friend that General Pirov cracked a wall, but barely touched the man.

If it weren’t for him singly restraining the General, so many people wouldn’t have died in East View City.”

“Really, when did Wansheng Country produce such a character!”

“Who knows? Probably a hidden expert from some sub-human species.

I heard that one of the Empire’s special forces also suffered under him and failed to complete their original task. They are now being intensively trained.

If their numbers become even fewer, they might be reorganized into an assassination squad.

I bet if the Colorful-haired Masked man survives till then, he will be their first target for elimination.”

Of course, this kind of conversation would only occur in the western part of the Long Boots Region, where the pressure of war was not so intense.

Luo Ze Empire’s army, surrounded by the West Fifth Army, didn’t have the luxury to discuss who was stronger or weaker, as they were figuring out how to face this empowered and seemingly unstoppable West Fifth Army.

They were constantly on edge, training day and night, but when it came to battle, they fought like paper tigers.

They hated their cumbersome clothing, regretted that it wasn’t spring or summer, and lamented that their military lacked the space to display their true power.

To preserve strength and delay time, the Luo Ze Army gradually resorted to the empty fort strategy, leaving only a few soldiers with red flags on the city walls.

Others prepared to attack the city only to find they could push the gates open alone as the city had already been abandoned.

Occasionally, Luo Ze defenders in the Long Boots Region would employ a mix of true and false tactics, setting traps inside the city and using buildings as cover to ambush when the West Fifth Army suspected it was an empty city.

Thankfully, the attacking army was superior in tactics and avoided serious losses.

Since then, Wansheng Country’s army was also wary of such tactics, dispatching more scouts to gather intelligence.

They also embraced the idea of “even if it slows down a bit, ensuring a secure capture of the city is paramount.”

Lux Calendar, year 415, January 11.

In less than ten days, Wansheng Country had completely recaptured all the cities east of East View City they intended to, successfully liberating the third division of the West Fifth Army and completing their convergence.

Successfully completing the task assigned by the Lu Hua Army, Yang Yu returned along the Rakasile River, with a towering city wall across the river.

Looking up, the scale of the city wall built by Luo Ze Empire far surpassed the Great Wall in Yang Yu’s memory.

This was a world of magic. Constructing a wall to seal off the plains might require an unknown amount of manpower and resources, but it was surely simpler than building the Great Wall.

Yang Yu, alongside the third unit of the West Fifth Army, had often scaled this towering wall during the siege.

There were many cannons on top of the wall, identical to those in East View City, complete with control panels. Yang Yu had indeed seen Luo Ze’s artillerymen operating the cannons through codes.

Due to the contraction of the front lines in the Feng Mang Region, there weren’t many of Luo Ze’s defending troops left on the wall. Once they were defeated, there were basically none left.

Dealing with them was quite simple, and there was no need to worry about reinforcements.

Naturally, Yang Yu would not miss this chance to distinguish himself. He single-handedly surrounded the team of artillerymen on the wall and achieved remarkable military exploits.

Afterwards, Yang Yu purposefully took several of the artillerymen as prisoners to interrogate them about how to use the cannons.

However, no matter how he threatened or tempted them, they always refused to talk. When Yang Yu threatened them with death, these artillerymen remained defiant and fearless,

“I’m telling you, we completely surrendered up on the wall, and the giant dragons saw everything clearly!

“You can’t do anything to us, it would go against the Giants Dragons’ Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners.

“If you dare touch us, you’ll surely be punished by the giant dragons.”

From these artillerymen, Yang Yu learned a few useful pieces of information.

Firstly, the giant dragons were indeed watching the progress of this war at all times, As the most powerful beings in this world, perhaps they viewed this war as humans would watch ants.

On the other hand, the Luo Ze Empire was indeed trying every possible means to exploit every rule they could.

Compared to Wansheng Country, which knew nothing and fought honestly and straightforwardly, the gap was immense.

Considering the special nature of the cannons, each artilleryman was a precious resource; perhaps, they could gain an advantage in future prisoner exchanges.

With the aid of his control panel, perhaps he could apply to represent the prisoner exchange and select some captives with decent potential to form his own large force…

Suddenly, a huge palm gently patted Yang Yu on the back, disrupting his thoughts.

A burly Bearman General, bursting with hearty laughter said,

“Hahahahaha, the Lu Hua Army really values you, but this is all well-deserved.

Your strength is plain for all to see, certainly not comparable to those lads I lead.

I can see you’re still very young! Truly, a promising future awaits you, a promising future indeed!”

This Bearman General, named Dongmu, was one of the three Grand Generals of the West Fifth Army, most memorable for his huge, furry arms that looked like two fluffy pillows were slipped onto his limbs.

Despite their soft and comfortable appearance, Dongmu could snap a large tree in half with a true strike.

According to the panel, he was a strength-type General, with capabilities comparable to General Pirov.

Had he been able to arrive on time, it would have been he, not Yang Yu, who would have held Pirov back.

The General seldom praised anyone, especially his juniors, but Yang Yu’s performance was truly outstanding, exhibiting courage and judgment that matched any General of the West Fifth Army.

“After we return, there will be plenty of stages for you to perform on. Let us together drive those damned humans back to the cold North! Let them never dare set foot here again!”
