Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 624: Chapter 624 It’s Snowing

This victory was unprecedented, and there was no need to worry about morale dropping for the time being—all thanks to the Plant Clan hybrid standing before them.

With great gratitude unspoken, the Lu Hua Army slowly blew out a ring of smoke,

“That’s about enough. We need to tie him up and take him as a captive.”

It wasn’t until that moment that Yang Yu stopped his actions and said, “Oh.”

Pison, who had been beaten to the ground, could only think of cursing in his heart, unsure whether to voice it or not.

Clearly, the Lu Hua Army could have called a halt sooner, but they had watched the fight play out for quite some time. Obviously, they had wanted Yang Yu to beat Pison a little longer.

Though Pison knew this, what could he do?

He was already a defeated general; no amount of struggle would change his fate now, and he could only lie down obediently, awaiting his fate.

With Pison subdued, the battle to recapture Golden Tangerine City officially came to an end.

The siege ended with a complete victory for the Wansheng Country Plain Recovery Army.

Due to the outstanding performance of Yang Yu and his troops, the West Fifth Army First Unit suffered fewer than a hundred casualties, annihilated over nine hundred enemies, and captured more than 1,600 soldiers, with only a few Luoze soldiers breaking through the encirclement.

The Lu Hua Army was quite satisfied with this achievement, not only in terms of the number of casualties but also in terms of time.

Initially, they had prepared for a standoff lasting several hours, but unexpectedly, the battle concluded in less than two hours, resulting in the complete recovery of Golden Tangerine City.

This afforded them more time to attempt to recover the Long Boots Region and even go on the offensive in the Feng Mang Region, putting pressure on the defenses of the Luo Ze Empire.

“Order the troops to rest in place for three hours, then continue the march to the next city.”

“Yes!”

Hearing his subordinate’s resolute reply, the Lu Hua Army nodded and then walked straight over to the hero of this siege.

Yang Yu had just finished tallying his unit’s casualties and reported the numbers to his superior. As the Vanguard, despite some having sustained serious injuries, his unit was fortunate enough to have no fatalities.

Much of that was due to the training Yang Yu had provided.

Had it not been for Yang Yu seizing every opportunity to drill them on various combat essentials,

For a unit leading the charge to have less than a dozen, or perhaps twenty casualties, would be considered divine intervention.

Since many injuries were superficial, Iyas used her Holy Light to heal the wounded members in turn.

For those more seriously injured, Yang Yu took out Potions from the System to help them recover and alleviate pain.

“This operation owes its swift conclusion to you.”

While consoling the injured soldiers with his gaze, the Lu Hua Army affirmed Yang Yu’s remarkable performance.

“It’s not just my merit. My unit deserves the credit too.”

The Lu Hua Army placed a hand on his chin, nodding, “I apologize; it was my mistake. It was the outstanding performance of you all that allowed this siege to end so swiftly. I thank you.”

“It’s our duty; there is no need for thanks,” said Yang Yu, looking sideways at the captives being tied up and slowly gathered, “What should we do with so many captives?”

“Typically, we hand them over to designated personnel for management and use them to implement captive exchanges with the Luo Ze Empire.”

The Lu Hua Army explained,

“Of course, it isn’t a one-for-one equal exchange. If the captive is an officer or someone of high nobility, the number of captives required for the exchange increases.”

“This is the first time I’m hearing about this.”

“There’s no helping it. After all, most officers who become captives are cowards without real strength.”

The Lu Hua Army fiercely drew on their smoking pipe, and rings of smoke slowly drifted out with their sigh.

“To this day, I still remember a noble son of a duke, defeated and captured. We had to exchange five hundred prisoners just to secure his safety.”

The Lu Hua Army spoke with an air of nonchalance, but when they heard the news at the time, they wanted nothing more than to charge into the enemy camp and gore that noble son to death with their antlers.

It was extremely difficult to capture Luoze’s soldiers; five hundred of them already constituted one fifth of the total Luoze soldiers Wansheng Country managed to capture in the previous year.

Those five hundred prisoners could have been exchanged for some fervent soldiers eager to continue battling, but instead…

If it hadn’t been for that man’s father’s financial aid to Wansheng Country, they would not have spent such a vast number of prisoners to retrieve him.

“If I become a prisoner, I suppose not many prisoners will be needed to exchange for me. I’ll have to trouble the General to take care of it and get me back quickly,” Yang Yu joked.

The Lu Hua Army shook their head, “If possible, it’s best not to end up in their hands.

There are countless compatriots over there waiting for us to bring them home. Everything should be done in proper order.

If you were to be captured now, I estimate you’d have to spend four or five years tending vegetables or building walls over there before you could return.”

“Is that so? That would indeed be a big problem.”

Yang Yu laughed,

“If I cannot find glory and distinguish myself, I won’t be able to receive rewards from His Majesty to treat the illness I carry.

Afterward, I’ll need the General to provide me with more opportunities to earn merit.”

“War lacks for nothing except opportunities to shine, but don’t get too eager for quick success and lose your life.

Take some time to rest; this war has just begun, and we don’t have much time.”

With that, the Lu Hua Army continued their steps, going to console the other troops that had assaulted the city walls.

“Not much time, eh? The feeling is mutual.”

Muttering to himself, Yang Yu noticed a flicker of white snow drifting down before him and, looking up, more snowflakes were gently falling from the sky.

The Selovomen Plain experienced its first snow of the winter.

On the frontline between the Luo Ze Empire and the Wansheng Country, a middle-aged man also raised his head, watching as the winter snow gradually intensified,

“The snow has finally come, quite late indeed!”

The man’s lynx-like ears flicked left and right, shaking off the snow that was gradually building upon his head; his orange-yellow eyes focused intently on the increasingly blurred opposite bank of the river, pondering something unknown.

The flowing Rakasile River gradually formed chunks of ice, which collided and clattered together with the river’s flow on the surface.

The splashing droplets, in the cold of winter, became the perfect adhesive, binding the scattered ice chunks into one.

The Big River began to freeze over.

The walls being constructed by the Luo Ze Empire were forced to cease construction, and magicians stood atop intending to cast Flame Magic to delay the freezing of the river.

However, their efforts were futile.

Regardless of how many times they cast it, the flames produced by the magicians became weak, flickering amidst the heavy snow, let alone preventing the solidification of the river.

After several attempts, the magicians ceased their pointless endeavors and followed the main forces, braving the blizzard to retreat from the river’s edge, compressing the battle lines deeper into the Feng Mang Region.

The heavy snowfall lasted for three whole days.

On December 16 of the year 414 of the Lux calendar, the snow stopped, and the entire plain was blanketed in white.

A gap tore through the overcast sky, casting bright sunshine upon the plain, and the wide river at this moment had become a mirror.

The Wansheng Country Plain Recovery Army, an overwhelming force of over three hundred thousand, all convened by the river’s edge.
