Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 643: Chapter 643: Hurry up and Surrender

A day and night of battle had greatly depleted Piluf’s spirit, causing his head to buzz and his muscles to ache as if soaked in lemon.

The ground beneath his feet had become fragmented and shattered due to his powerful, repeated pounding.

The thick Stripe Guardian slime applied to his body had dried out from prolonged movement and lost its effect, resembling a layer of plastic film stuck on his sturdy chest.

The cold of the plain repeatedly jabbed at Piluf’s nerves, as if attempting to skin him alive.

Had Piluf not possessed exceptional defense and extraordinary resilience, he might have already turned into an ice sculpture amidst the cutting winds.

The first rays of sunlight in the early morning touched the city walls, and only then did Piluf feel a hint of warmth.

However, this warmth did not bring a good mood to Piluf.

The bodies of Luoze soldiers and Beastmen started piling up on the city walls, freezing into one with the walls under the chilling wind.

The elite troops led by Yang Yu continuously dealt with magicians and archers launching surprise attacks at the base of the walls, creating opportunities for the Beastmen to climb up.

More and more Beastmen ascended the walls, grappling with the Luoze defenders.

In the past, humans managed to hold off the Beastmen’s assaults at East View City, all thanks to heavy cannons set up seven years ago.

Those heavy cannons considerably weakened the Beastmen’s strength before they even reached the towering city walls.

Even if some slipped through the net, the human defenders could vastly outnumber the climbing Beastmen and easily drive them back down the walls.

If only the cannons hadn’t suddenly failed and a troublesome race like the Stripe Guardian appeared.

This year should have been just like any other, easily completing the defense.

Who the hell made our cannons like this!

We checked and double-checked the cannons to prevent sabotage from an insider, how did he manage it!

Taking the potion from the Pharmacist amidst gunfire, Piluf intended to restore his stamina before deciding on the next step.

But this was a battlefield.

The glass bottle that Piluf raised was shattered by an abruptly thrusting sword blade.

The purple Recovery Potion, along with the glass fragments, spilled over him, and the perpetrator kicked him in the chest, landing less than five meters ahead, triumphantly slinging the sword over his shoulder,

“I say, after fighting for so long, you’re panting for breath. Why not surrender and hand over East View City to us?

This originally belonged to us; you’re merely returning what was ours. There’s no need to fight us to death.

If this fight continues, I don’t know how many of your troops will be left!”

“You bastard! I’ll tear you to shreds myself!”

Piluf clenched the broken bottle in his hand into pieces, ignoring his exhaustion and the cold, and swung his fist at Yang Yu once more.

The man in front of him didn’t look the slightest bit like a Beastman, and Piluf couldn’t tell what race Yang Yu was.

During combat, he had used thorns—could he be from the Plant Clan?

But how could the Plant Clan move so freely in this kind of weather?

Not just him; those Stripe Guardians were an extremely temperature-sensitive race, yet, why could they move as freely as Beastmen on the Sailuomen Plain?

Why only humans couldn’t!

“If it were summer, no matter how many beastmen there are, I would kill them all for you to see!”

Snarling, roaring, Piluf’s fist once again missed its mark.

With all his strength unable to land a hit, it was all in vain, and Piluf could only vent all his anger on the wall, in a rage of impotence.

With a thunderous boom, the already shattered wall was smashed into creating a ten-meter-wide deep pit, with terrifying cracks extending continuously from the center of the pit to both sides of the city wall.

The city wall cracked open, an extremely terrifying fissure spread from the top down to the base of the wall.

Yang Yu simply stood less than a meter away from the deep pit, looking down at Piluf from his vantage point,

“It seems that you have no intention of surrendering.”

“It’s so strange! Really too strange!” Piluf pulled out his arm and pointed his frozen, purplish index finger at Yang Yu, “Why can you see through my attacks every time. Who exactly are you!”

He just stood there next to the deep pit he had created, not even in his wildest dreams would Piluf believe it was a coincidence.

The man before him demonstrated his specialness with his actions.

Time and again, Piluf tried to use his Skill to knock down Yang Yu, but Yang Yu was always able to Dissolve all those Skills, his eyes showing neither surprise nor shock, as if he had long known every Skill and its power, nothing surprised him anymore.

How could that be possible?

Have I fought with him before? Why can’t I remember? Such a remarkable opponent should have made a profound impression on me!

Piluf was certain he had never crossed swords with Yang Yu before.

Not just because of Yang Yu’s distinctive appearance, but also because of Yang Yu’s extremely poor attack power.

Apart from those eerie black Sword Blade attacks and the dazzling orange Sword Blade attacks, Yang Yu’s regular attacks could hardly hurt him, only slightly stronger than a few of his own Yajiang.

The opponent’s intention was clear, to buy time for the siege troops to allow more beastmen to ascend the city walls.

Defeating the opponent before him and then assisting his own troops would obviously be more efficient.

If he was not doing it, it must be because he couldn’t!

I can’t knock him down, and he can’t knock me down, but this, this was already enough for him.

Countless Luoze soldiers, undaunted by the severe cold, built up the city walls with their flesh and blood, driving back wave after wave of beastmen attacks.

However, in the end, it was impossible to drive the beastmen off the walls.

The number of Luoze soldiers dwindled as they fought, while the casualties among the Wansheng Country Army were less than expected.

This war came too suddenly, many of Wansheng Country’s Priests were drafted midway, anyone with a slight trace of the Holy Light would be snatched up to become a Priest.

These newfound Priests, perhaps not very powerful in their Healing abilities, were, however, agile, able to move nimbly across the battlefield, Healing, and pulling their soldiers back from the brink of Death.

However, the vast majority of human Priests, like Magicians, were slow and lacked mobility and protection, becoming easy prey for slaughter.

To become an excellent human Priest not only required talent but also significant investment of manpower and resources.

For the Luo Ze Empire, every Priest was precious, and it was impossible for them to move about the battlefield like those of the Wansheng Country Army.

Another point, because many of the Wansheng Country Priests were drafted midway, they seemed to have pioneered a new usage of the Holy Light.

Those Light Arrows shot from beneath the wall, Piluf initially thought they were support from the troops below for him.

In the end, they were all support given by a blond elf to the man before him.
