Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 608: Chapter 608: They Actually Ambushed Us New Recruits

A burly man stood in the middle of the forest, staring intently at the group of recruits led by Gla, like a predator eyeing its prey.

“Indeed, the Beastmen possess extraordinary insight.

However, you will never defeat us, for there is a substantial gap between our kinds.

In equal numbers, a single human might not defeat you, but a thousand humans can certainly match you blow for blow, and over ten thousand would most likely result in a massacre.”

A confident smile appeared on Sicakun’s face as he drew his sword, followed by his soldiers, who uniformly unsheathed their blades.

The Luo Ze Empire knew that Wansheng Country sent new recruits every year to replenish the battlefield, and they also re-supplied logistics.

Next year would be the optimal time to finish building the walls, and those foolish subhumans must have also realized this.

If Wansheng Country retook the plains, come spring, when they found it impossible to withstand the human assaults, they would surely do everything possible to destroy the nearly completed walls, laying a trap for Wansheng Country’s ongoing winter offensive.

For some reason, the Luo Ze Empire had already decided to end this war completely within two years.

As Sailuomen Plain was the most important supply point and troop station, the Luo Ze Empire could not allow Wansheng Country to retake it.

Sicakun was the general ordered to lead the troops and intercept the new recruits and logistics on their way to the battlefield.

He didn’t bring many soldiers, around 1,400. Any more, and they would easily betray their position.

Out of the 1,400, four hundred were elite—enough to handle these youngsters who had never seen battle.

Even if there were some experts protecting them, they could use the vanguard’s assault to break their formation, then strike suddenly in the ensuing chaos, taking down the logistics at the front.

Damage to supplies and the shock to large number of new soldiers would surely break Wansheng Country soldiers’ morale, smoothly disrupting Wansheng Country’s winter offensive.

Under Sicakun’s watchful eye, the assault troops burst out from the flanks of the Wansheng Country’s new recruits, and simultaneously, a hundred elites commanded by Sicakun had already cut off the recruits’ retreat.

However, the scene of the Wansheng Country new recruits falling into disarray that Sicakun expected did not occur.

Yang Yu, without another word, pulled He Meng from behind Bai Jin’s hood and kicked him like a ball towards the middle section of the troop. Immediately after, Yang Yu directly picked up Bai Jin and using “Support Charge,” hitched a ride on He Meng’s favorable position, moving to a spot near the middle of the troops.

He put Bai Jin down on the ground, then instantly drew a large shield and sword to confront the Luo Ze soldiers who came charging.

A red light pierced into Yang Yu’s palm, his sword radiated an orange glow, and with his staggering blood volume of over nine thousand, this “Double-sided Slash” was enough to pierce through the chest of a regular soldier.

Blood splattered, and Yang Yu swung his blade again, linking several normal attacks to clinch the first blood of the battlefield.

However, the other Luo Ze Empire soldiers didn’t stop at the sight; they continued their charge, clashing their weapons with the Wansheng Country recruits.

In an instant, countless wails arose, and the unprepared flank recruits got slashed repeatedly, blood spurting ceaselessly.

“Listen to me! If you do not wish to die, pick up your weapons and fight back!”

Gla’s voice roared deafeningly as he too grasped his weapon and, along with other veterans, initiated a counterattack, fully aware that there was still a long way to the battlefield.

The Luo Ze Empire certainly couldn’t bring too many people to this ambush—their goal was singular.

Now, Gla only worried that this sudden attack would catch the new troops off guard, leading them to lose their courage to cope and be slaughtered helplessly.

At that moment, Gla saw the footsteps of the Luo Ze soldiers, who first launched an attack on the logistics units, suddenly slow down.

Following that, a bizarre magic array expanded under the feet of a somewhat strange-looking elf; countless black shadows surged within the magic array, morphing into little black demons that attacked the Luo Ze soldiers.

After slaying several soldiers, Yang Yu plunged his sword deep into the ground.

“Thorny Binding!”

Instantly, numerous thorns grew out of the soil, forming a spiny net in front of Yang Yu and Bai Jin, entwining several incoming soldiers.

Seizing the opportunity, Yang Yu’s new troops and the logistics units behind him regained their composure. They chanted magic together, and before the Empire’s magic could descend upon them, they suddenly unfolded a barrier, dissipating the scattered spells.

Taking a deep breath, Yang Yu watched as an Illusion Shield abruptly expanded in front of him.

This wasn’t intended to intercept flying tools—it was for executing a combo.

A burst of red surged from Yang Yu, covering his entire body, including the massive Illusion Shield. Suddenly, it seemed as if a breeze had blown across, wafting the red from his body.

At that moment, Yang Yu seemed like a bullet poised to be fired.

“Red Blood Path!”

Upon uttering the skill’s name, Yang Yu charged like a speeding bullet train towards the charging Luo Ze soldiers.

The width of the path created by “Red Blood Path” was linked to the size of the user.

The colossal Blood Lion could naturally carve a broad path effortlessly, whereas Yang Yu, being of average human size, could not create as wide a path as the Blood Lion.

When he and Lotcar had gone to deliver messages to the Plant Clan, Yang Yu had tried this skill several times.

He finally discovered the interplay between “Interception” and “Red Blood Path,” and the size of the Illusion Shield generated by “Interception” was linked to the size of the shield itself, so Yang Yu specifically chose a larger shield before the battle started.

Thanks to this blessing, the path Yang Yu advanced through was more than three meters wide; using the Illusion Shield, he quickly pushed aside the Luo Ze soldiers engaged in close combat with the new troops, causing them to crash against nearby trees in a disheveled heap.

The Luo Ze soldiers, continuing their assault on the new troops, were also pushed back several meters due to this skill from Yang Yu.

A brief vacuum appeared in the offensive of the Luo Ze Empire’s ambush forces. The new soldiers, initially unable to grasp the situation, recognized the severity of the problem with the shout from the veterans, recalling the skills they had learned during their collective training.

They had to fight; if they didn’t, thinking only of escape, they would be left dead by their enemies.

A series of courageous roars erupted, and the Wansheng Country’s new troops started to fight back.

Witnessing this scene, Sicakun let a solemn expression slip, which removed the ease from his face.

He didn’t say much, just raised his sword, ordering the elite soldiers by his side to launch their attack together.
