Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 623: Chapter 623: Think You Can Run? No Way.

Having inhaled the last of the tobacco from his pipe, the Lu Hua Army unsheathed their sword blades and, with a sudden swoop,

“Charge!”

The West Fifth Army First Unit surged toward the city gates like a tide. With no magicians or archers remaining on the city walls, there was no one left to halt their advance.

On the city walls, amidst the flashing blades, Pison was forced into a fierce battle with Yang Yu.

Yang Yu’s movements, as smooth as flowing water, dazzled Pison, even giving him the illusion that each of his strikes was bound to miss.

Even if he shed his heavy clothing and used his skills, Yang Yu would dissolve them, and Pison could not reverse his losing trend, knowing his opponent’s techniques far surpassed his own.

“[Short-range Rapid].”

Taking a deep breath, Pison lifted his sword blade and suddenly accelerated toward Yang Yu.

Yang Yu stood his ground, raising his shield to defend.

But Pison’s target was no longer Yang Yu. The armies of Wansheng Country had begun their assault, and his long-range troops were retreating into the city; he had no need to linger in combat.

Just as Pison’s sword was about to touch Yang Yu’s shield, he abruptly retracted it, changing direction and leaping down from the city wall, landing steadily. Propping himself up with his sword, he prepared to tactically retreat, but a barrage of weapons confronted him.

The Subhuman soldiers who had chased away the city gate defenders encircled Pison.

“Don’t get in my way! [Iron Cutting]!”

Roaring, Pison swung his sword blade, severing the weapons of several Beastman Soldiers and using his burly frame to barge through, escaping toward the direction where the Beastmen and city’s defenders were clashing.

“You’re fast to flee! But can you escape the palm of my hand?”

Yang Yu reached once more between his shield and arm to pull out He Meng, intending to use the same trick again and relocate himself with her help.

This time, however, He Meng stuck stubbornly to Yang Yu’s hand and wouldn’t shake off.

Turning his head, he saw He Meng with two little arms crossed over her chest like a chibi character, making a firm X.

She was, after all, the Princess of the Slime Kingdom, and being tossed around like a tool by Yang Yu certainly didn’t sit well with her.

If possible, He Meng hoped to converse with Yang Yu on equal terms, rather than being treated like a convenient tool to be thrown around.

Due to the language barrier, Yang Yu had no idea where He Meng’s little temper had sprung from.

It wasn’t exactly a critical moment, so Yang Yu didn’t continue to force the issue with He Meng.

He Meng’s favorability was there to help her learn skills. There were plenty of ways to catch up to Pison, and if it meant He Meng would learn fewer skills over something like this, Yang Yu wasn’t willing.

Yang Yu whistled, and Lotcar leaped over the Heavy Soldiers, landing beside him, leaning his right shoulder down for Yang Yu to mount.

Then, Lotcar stepped back a few paces and leaped from the towering city wall.

Lotcar’s pristine white body immediately caught the eye of many soldiers defending the city. They forcefully pushed away the Beastman Soldiers and directed their swords at Lotcar.

From Lotcar’s back, Yang Yu gave the command,

“Lotcar, [Gravity Impact].”

Lotcar transformed back to his original shape in midair, his fists raising a terrifying force, and the soldiers aiming at him suddenly felt a heaviness upon them, the ground beneath their feet cracking open.

[Gravity Impact], true to its name, was a skill that could apply gravity to those in the attack radius, rendering them unable to move, while also dealing damage to all.

However, the conditions for activating the skill were quite strict; one must leap from a height greater than one’s own in order to activate it.

Lotcar’s heavy fist struck the ground, causing a strong impact that almost made the well-trained Luoze soldiers lose their balance and nearly tumble to the ground.

With a single punch, Lotcar then transformed from his beastman form into a massive Silver Wolf, catching Yang Yu deftly. With an incredible swiftness, he bounded on all fours and, with a great leap, landed right in front of Pison.

Stepping down from Lotcar’s back, Yang Yu drew his sword,

“The battle isn’t over yet, don’t be in such a hurry to run!”

Pison’s eyebrows furrowed in concern. He knew he couldn’t escape, so he drew his sword to fight back,

“Haven’t you heard the saying, ‘Spare your foes today, and you may meet as friends tomorrow’?”

“Unfortunately, I really don’t want to see you again.”

With these words, Yang Yu pretended to engage Pison in a “lengthy” battle again.

For his plans, the more spectators the better. Once enough spectators had gathered, he would then thrash Pison, and his fame would naturally rise.

If in the past Lin Daiyu could gracefully reverse pluck the willows, then today Yang Yu could kick the Luoze General!

The city gates were wide open, and after several unsuccessful attempts to close them, and upon seeing a large number of soldiers retreating from the walls, the defenders inside Golden Tangerine City realized their position was untenable.

Nevertheless, those defenders still stood their ground, covering the retreat of their troops.

Sadly, with such disparity in military might, they had no chance against the advancing hordes of Wansheng Country soldiers and were quickly overwhelmed.

As the General, Pison did not follow the retreating troops but went ahead to the back gate of Golden Tangerine City, where the Centurion had spontaneously organized a retreat and opened the north gate.

But, as they fled through the north gate, they discovered that they too had been surrounded.

The Lu Hua Army’s dispatched small units had more tasks than just to uproot strongholds.

A fast-moving force had already maneuvered to the rear of Golden Tangerine City, blocking the escape route of the defending Luoze soldiers.

Confident in their skill at winter combat, all the Beastman Soldiers were full of self-assurance.

The retreating Luoze soldiers offered little resistance before throwing up their hands and loudly calling for surrender.

The First Unit of the West Fifth Army, which had surged into the city, quickly subdued the Luoze defenders within Golden Tangerine City.

Watching from within the city, Yang Yu, entangled in a fight with Pison, caught the eye of the Lu Hua Army.

Several Generals wanted to lead their men to encircle them, but they were stopped by the Lu Hua Army.

The Lu Hua Army had never seen Yang Yu fight up close and wanted to see what was so special about him.

Pison was already trapped; there was no need for anything superfluous.

Out of the corner of his eye, Pison spotted the familiar Lu Hua Army with whom he had clashed many times before, and he knew he had lost his best chance to escape.

So, there was only one answer.

Pison’s will to fight completely disappeared; he slowed his attack, but before he could even concede defeat, Yang Yu with a Sudden Killing Intent kicked Pison over and started pummeling him relentlessly on the ground.

“I surrender! I said I surrender! Stop hitting me, stop hitting me!” Pison protected his head with his arms on the ground, his pride as a General completely shattered.

All Yang Yu could say to Pison was, “You gave up so quickly, our performance fight is over now? All my acting just went to waste? If I don’t hit you, who do I hit?”

Once again, a soldier from the Lu Hua Army took out his smoking pipe, sheathing his sword, and pinching a pinch of tobacco. His finger and thumb rubbed together, creating sparks, and lit the tobacco, drawing a long, satisfying puff.
