Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 642: Chapter 642: Military Orders are like Mountains

“Damn hybrid!”

Piluf cursed violently.

Originally, the mysterious extinguishing of the artillery had made him very uncomfortable, and now, he was restrained by the strange young man in front of him, eventually doused with the Striped Guardian’s sticky secretion, making it difficult for him to move—Piluf was furious enough to kill.

The sword blade scraped the ground, Yang Yu steadied himself, no longer retreating, as a black shadow burst forth from behind him and, in the blink of an eye, merged into the sword blade.

A red light flashed before his eyes, Yang Yu used “Sudden Killing Intent,” his speed escalating further.

The sword blade swept across Piluf’s chest, Yang Yu struck with “Shadow Deception,” dealing impressive damage.

Yang Yu naturally wouldn’t waste the rare opportunity created by the Striped Guardian Sub-human.

As red pierced into his palm, an orange light also burst forth from Yang Yu’s sword blade.

No need for words, he directly faced the challenge head-on.

Yang Yu’s “Double-sided Slash” forcefully cut into the cumbersome armor, giving Piluf a damaging scrub, slightly more painful than a scraping.

“Kid, don’t get in the way!”

Piluf roared and launched an even more ferocious attack; he had completely lost his temper. He actually took off his heavy armor and clothes, baring his chest, and smeared the Striped Guardian’s sticky secretion on himself.

The Striped Guardian’s secretion brought a fiery burning sensation to the skin, which barely shielded against the winter chill.

Following that, Piluf launched another fierce attack toward Yang Yu.

He knew that if he couldn’t deal with Yang Yu in front of him, he would definitely not reach the siege troops.

With more Beastmen increasingly scaling the castle walls as part of the elite siege troops, the human’s winter disadvantage on the Sailuomen Plain became evident once again.

Mage attacks conducted through chanting could ignore the bulky clothing on their bodies, but the Heavy Knights and Archers had to endure the physical discomfort and continue fighting.

The situation on the castle walls grew more tense.

If Yang Yu’s elite siege troops couldn’t be driven off the walls in time, more and more soldiers from Wansheng Country would climb up, leading to the fall of East View City.

The officer guarding the stairway entrance to the city wall ordered the soldiers to remove the warming clothes,

“Gentlemen.

If it continues this way, the fall of East View City is just a matter of time.

You must have all heard of the savagery and ferocity of the Beastmen.

If we cannot hold the city wall, the only thing waiting for us is death!

We must harbor gratitude towards the Empire.

For our honor, let’s show these Beastmen our true strength.”

At first, many Luoze soldiers were shaken, but when the first soldier voluntarily removed his warm clothes, the rest of the soldiers no longer hesitated and successively began to take off their warm clothes.

For them, facing death either way, they might as well make their lives meaningful.

It was the protection of the Empire that had allowed their families to survive; they believed in their country.

Taking advantage of the warmth still left in their bodies, the soldiers either raised Long Spears, picked up Shields, or took up Sword Blades, launching a counterattack against the siege troops climbing up the city walls.

Seeing a large number of soldiers pouring out from the stairway entrance and pressing towards them, the siege troops quickly organized a resistance.

The Stripe Guardian Sub-humans could sniff out everyone’s body temperature, and they could feel that the temperatures of these attacking soldiers were visibly dropping.

In such freezing weather, if not for the protection of the Warm Fire Stone, the Stripe Guardian Sub-humans felt they could be frozen into blocks of ice at any moment.

These humans dared to strip and launch counterattacks, at the risk of being frozen to death, which puzzled the Stripe Guardian Sub-humans greatly.

The Stripe Guardian Clan, like other rare Sub-humans, maintained small tribes scattered about, totaling only around ten to twenty thousand individuals.

The Stripe Guardian Sub-humans had also participated in the founding war of Wansheng Country.

But those memories had been completely erased by time.

The reason these Stripe Guardian Sub-humans were fighting here for Wansheng Country was purely due to Minister Ming Dalak’s constant persuasion and the anxiety brought about by the southward movement of humans.

Many Stripe Guardian Sub-humans, though not outwardly speaking, still longed for their originally peaceful lives, fearing change by external forces.

Minister Ming Dalak had said that this war needed the strength of the Stripe Guardian Clan, and if they did not participate, resulting in the loss of the war, the Stripe Guardian Clan would surely become very popular toys among human nobles due to their unique appearances.

After discussions between the Clan Leader and the elders, the Stripe Guardian Clan decided to get involved in this war.

For their own clan, these Stripe Guardians had considerable courage.

However, compared to humans, most of them lacked the resolute determination to die.

They would ensure their own safety while trying to complete the tasks assigned by superiors, and if those superiors ordered them to die, they would seriously consider it.

Since humans are intolerant of cold, why wait when delaying could lead these soldiers to defeat without fighting?

Yang Yu’s troop to scale the city walls switched from attacking to defending.

At least, time was on the side of Wansheng Country.

One siege ladder after another was set up, and one Beastman after another climbed up these ladders.

Upon reaching the city wall, the soldiers of the Luoze Empire tried everything to obstruct them.

But as they knocked down one Beastman after another, more Beastmen followed suit, continually launching attacks.

In front of the city gates of East View City, the soldiers led by General Kahel tried to do something about the assaulting West Fifth Army, but with little success.

Despite the minimal effect, they continuously charged, slowing down the enemy by seconds.

In the center of the battlefield, a large area was cleared, as everyone tried to avoid being caught up in the S-ranking power struggle.

General Kahel, riding a white horse, constantly clashed with the Lu Hua Army, any loss of which would be a tremendous blow to morale.

The Lu Hua Army and Kahel could not afford to be careless for even a moment.

The numbers of combatants on both sides reached tens of thousands; whenever someone got injured, they were taken to the back of the troops for medical treatment.

As long as they weren’t missing limbs…

Even if they were missing limbs, as long as the limbs could be found and treated within a certain time frame, the soldiers could bounce back lively.

Thus, soldiers who had once been injured joined the battlefield wave after wave, making the fight not a matter of life and death.

In this way, the battle for East View City continued from morning to evening, evening to deep night, and from deep night to the next morning.

Because with sustained endurance, and Iyas occasionally coming over to add a buff or heal something, Yang Yu’s face showed no sign of fatigue, launching attack after attack on Piluf.
