Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 610: Chapter 610: Let Me Turn on the Loudspeaker

Sicakun made the right decision.

No matter how agile He Meng was, she couldn’t possibly leave Bai Jin’s side.

Utilizing the speed Yang Yu enhanced for her, He Meng was able to defend against multiple enemies instantly within a certain range.

But beyond that range, He Meng couldn’t guarantee a hundred percent defense against all attacks, and then, Bai Jin would be in danger.

As long as one person stayed behind and the others continued to attack, He Meng, who feared a sudden enemy assault, wouldn’t dare stray from her defensible range.

No.

Even if Sicakun didn’t leave anyone behind, He Meng still wouldn’t dare make any rash moves.

The soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire had already breached into the midsection of the new recruits, and behind Bai Jin were already filled with Luo Ze soldiers.

The skill Bai Jin was using now involved fiery Flame Magic, which couldn’t possibly spread to the midsection of the new recruits.

Doing so would not only burn the scrolls enabled by Storage Magic but also cut the new recruits into sections, leaving them to be defeated one by one by Luo Ze soldiers.

Yang Yu was harassing the nearby Luo Ze Elites during their charge, even using himself as bait.

But the soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire only followed Sicakun’s orders, tearing an opening in the new recruits and, like thousands of Iron Hoofs, either plundered or directly destroyed the widely-opened logistics teams.

The magicians from the logistics teams struggled, even exhausting all their Magic Power to protect the carriages holding supplies, but still couldn’t prevent the loss of supplies.

One magician had a sudden idea; he triggered an explosion right beneath the carriage transporting scrolls, scattering the scrolls into the hands of new recruits who had not immediately engaged in battle, and then, he peacefully fell.

Bai Jin’s magic was finally ready, she swung her Magic Wand, and a brilliant red Magic Array expanded in front of her, quickly encompassing the Luo Ze soldiers who had not yet broken through the defensive line.

The scorching flames formed walls of fire, and Luo Ze soldiers attempting to pass through suddenly ignited, their armor interior temperature rose sharply by several degrees, making their skin feel like it was seared on an iron plate.

Only then did these war machine-like troops sound like humans, emitting painful howls.

The Luo Ze soldiers who didn’t break through the flames were quickly subdued by Gla and other veterans.

The elite squad that had ripped through the midsection of the new recruits, along with several ordinary Luo Ze soldiers, went far away.

The magicians behind Luo Ze continued to pour magic into the battle lines, covering the elite squad’s retreat and continuing to force the magicians of Wansheng Country’s new recruits to build defenses, rendering them unable to retaliate.

Finally, when Sicakun and his troops had completely vanished into the forest on the other side, the Luo Ze magicians turned their magic towards the firewall Bai Jin had created, breaking several openings.

The surviving Luo Ze soldiers used this opportunity to organize into small groups and break through collectively.

In a short time, the majority of the Luo Ze soldiers under control managed to escape from the magic firewall Bai Jin had created.

Gla, looking grave, did not hesitate to order to kill all the Luo Ze soldiers attempting to flee.

Ultimately, this ambush concluded with both sides substantially damaged.

But the newly recruited troops of Wansheng Country lost even more thoroughly; they suffered nearly eight hundred casualties, countless injuries, and only managed to eliminate slightly over four hundred enemies while more than half of their resources were either stolen or destroyed.

Inhaling the scent of blood in the air, many new soldiers were clueless and anxious, constantly scanning their surroundings fearfully, dreading another attack from the soldiers of Luo Ze Empire that might annihilate them thoroughly.

As time elapsed, after Gla ensured there were no traces of Luo Ze soldiers around, these soldiers finally exhaled in relief. Their trembling legs could no longer support the fear in their hearts, and they collapsed to the ground.

Not yet truly battle-hardened, many soldiers thought of retreating after experiencing such a setback.

“If only I hadn’t volunteered to enlist.” “The difference in strength is too vast; how could we possibly match them?” “My brother, if only I hadn’t called you to enlist…”

Negative sentiments like these gradually permeated among the new recruits after they calmed down.

Iyas, using the Holy Light skill she had acquired, did her best to treat the wounded. Injuries of the living could be healed using Holy Light or potions, but the dead were gone forever.

Lotcar, covered in blood and full of wounds, managed to remove the curse and possessed considerable strength, fought alongside many veterans and new soldiers. However, one hundred Luo Ze elites made them suffer greatly; he was half-lying on the ground licking his wounds.

Bai Jin bit her lower lip; if only she had released “Red Lotus Hell” sooner, perhaps the losses could have been minimized.

Not far away, Yang Yu, wiped the blood off his sword and shield, approached Bai Jin and gently patted her shoulder. He bent down and placed the exhausted He Meng back into Bai Jin’s hood,

“You’ve all done well enough. If you feel unsatisfied, then elevate your strength to prevent this from happening again.”

After speaking, Yang Yu used “Support Charge” to reach Lotcar’s side, generously sharing potions with Lotcar and other injured soldiers.

Seeing this, Gla couldn’t describe his feelings; he sighed deeply, “Indeed, a man rightfully nominated to be the centurion…”

Then, Gla quickly composed himself. He was responsible for leading the new recruits this time and could not allow pessimism to continue spreading within the army, causing morale to drop and hindering progress.

Though it was untimely, Gla still felt it necessary to muster his courage and step forward to deliver a stern lesson to the dispirited soldiers, regardless of whether it sounded like motivational rhetoric. At this moment, he only wanted to redirect those who had become disoriented due to the attack back onto the right path.

Just as Gla was about to step forward to execute his plan, he saw Yang Yu gesturing to him, seemingly seeking his approval.

Despite not knowing what Yang Yu intended to do, seeing Yang Yu’s serious expression, he nodded.

After all, without him, their losses might have been even more severe.

Then, Yang Yu took out a large wooden box, stood on it, and then pulled out a megaphone-like tool and fiddled with it.

Turning the volume up to the maximum, Yang Yu took a deep breath and bellowed,

“YOU! LOT! OF! INCOMPETENTS!”

The deafening sound echoed through the forest, causing ringing in the ears of the nearest soldiers; even Lotcar reached up to cover his ears.

Due to this outburst, the disheartened soldiers, who were just sighing in despair, had their attention instantly captured by Yang Yu.

Watching Yang Yu, even though they knew that without his proactive actions their chances would have been slim, they still felt an inexplicable irritation inside,

“We’ve already risked our lives here; what right do you have to call us incompetents!”
