Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 603: Chapter 603 You Really Misjudged

“The Queen had made herself clear enough,” Ming Dalak thought it unnecessary to remind the two Elves sent by Ailena; even without his saying, the two Elves, deeply trusted by the Queen, would surely follow Yang Yu and ensure his safety.

“You can tell, Queen Ailena holds you in high regard,” Ming Dalak said, watching Yang Yu happily integrating the two Elves into his team, somewhat sentimentally, “How did you persuade the Queen to join us? Honestly, I’m quite curious.”

“It wasn’t anything significant, I just stated the facts plainly, that’s all,” Yang Yu replied, “In that situation, anyone who could articulate the facts would gain the Queen’s favor, I just went with the flow.”

“Well said about going with the flow,” Ming Dalak slightly raised the corners of his mouth, revealing a rare smile, “Let it be so.

In a couple of days, you should also head north with the new batch of troops, officially joining the war, and I look forward to your performance.

I have other important matters to attend to, so I’ll take my leave now.”

Having said that, Ming Dalak left without turning back, returning to the bustling crowd of Elves, guiding them through their division into groups.

He had his hands full.

Turning around, Yang Yu reached out to Bai Jin and Iyas,

“Miss Yellow Flower, Lady Mu Jin, I’m glad to see you both again. Since you are under my command to complete the tasks assigned by the Elf Queen, you must listen carefully to my orders.

The Queen surely doesn’t want to see either of you die in the war, so please act prudently.”

Iyas grasped Yang Yu’s right hand, “I look forward to learning from you. My archery and healing skills will certainly be useful, and I will ensure your safety as per the Queen’s directive.”

Bai Jin then took Yang Yu’s left hand, speaking timidly, “I look forward to your guidance. I, I cannot use Holy Light, and I’m not skilled with bows and arrows. The only useful skill I have is the magic forcibly taught by humans…”

“Don’t be nervous. I know quite a bit about magic and will guide you to become an excellent magician. Don’t worry about your identity, just contribute to this country, and it will surely recognize your efforts.”

Bai Jin had been with Yang Yu for so long, and her acting skills had gradually reached perfection, much to Yang Yu’s relief. This deliberate creation of distance felt completely natural here.

Releasing their hands, they exchanged pleasantries for a while, Bai Jin and Iyas then dutifully stood behind Yang Yu, pretending to be unsure of how to interact with him.

On the side, Blood Lion Wan Huawen folded his arms, laughing,

“It is you indeed, you really are talented and young.

Actually, I knew a few days ago that a member of the Plant Clan would come here for officer training.

I was wondering if it might be you.

And indeed, it is. You seem very confident about leading troops into battle. The messenger soldier said, you don’t need to undergo training for officers or soldiers, just need to be briefed on things to be aware of on the battlefield.

Are you sure?

If possible, I wish you could stay and proceed to the front with the next batch of trained soldiers, so you’d stand a better chance of keeping safe.

There’s still time to reconsider.”

Yang Yu shook his head, “The next batch of recruits won’t head to the battlefield until spring.

And now is a rare opportunity for Wansheng Country to launch an offensive, a great chance to establish a notable career.

Waiting until spring after training would mean losing the best opportunity to excel.”

Wan Huawen looked at Yang Yu, not believing Yang Yu was solely motivated by fame,

“Why do you want to climb higher?”

“Not everyone can modestly accept others’ opinions. Sometimes, to have others follow your own, you need to hold a higher reputation and position than they do.”

“Hahaha.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s response, Wan Huawen’s hearty laughter drowned out the other noisy sounds.

“If only my son had one-tenth of your drive and awareness, he wouldn’t be getting drunk with those worthless friends every day.

If you really grow up, I hope you can teach my good-for-nothing son a lesson, let him know there are always better people out there.”

“Lord of the family, you flatter me, I don’t think I have that kind of ability, teaching your lordship’s son should still be done by you!”

“Don’t be modest. I can see a person’s potential at a glance, and I’m looking forward to it.”

You’re really mistaken.

Yang Yu knew his own potential better than anyone, if it weren’t for the “System”, with his weak growth, he would have no way to rely on fighting monsters to reach the top.

“I won’t say much more, even what I just mentioned about ‘having learned the Skill’, I have my doubts.

There’s no time to teach you now.

When you come back, if you want to learn seriously, we’ll talk.

Tomorrow, I will have someone tell you what you need to be cautious of in the war.

The things they need to teach, I won’t repeat here, just be careful to protect yourself.

I’m also going to be busy now.”

With that, Wan Huawen turned and left; nobody noticed a trace of regret that had passed through his eyes.

Even though he knew Yang Yu’s departure was more likely to bring bad news than good, he still silently prayed for him.

At that time, his evasion showed that Wan Huawen knew Yang Yu could properly evaluate his own strength.

And that already surpassed most experts.

Some experts tend to overestimate their capabilities and won’t face reality until it’s too late.

When Wan Huawen truly recognized his own strength, he was over thirty years old, it was also then that he realized he didn’t have the power to change the world, and finally decided to let go of Xin Mang’s mother and take on the family heritage.

Yang Yu had realized it much earlier, Wan Huawen could feel a completely different aura in him, one of the courage to keep climbing after recognizing his own abilities.

The ways of the world are unpredictable, and the more powerful one is, the more one conveys human fragility.

Yang Yu was still too young, standing out too brightly on the battlefield would make him a target.

But all Wan Huawen could do was to stay in Baihua City and watch the progress of the war.

Watching Wan Huawen walking away, Yang Yu smiled at Bai Jin and Iyas:

“Ladies, it seems arranging all the elves will take some time. Queen Qian Xialan had mentioned that after the reception ceremony, those with no duties could disperse.

Let me show you around Baihua City to explain what’s to come, starting tomorrow, we need to be here to listen to the matters concerning the war.

I hope both of you ladies can get used to it, as following me involves many dangers.”

Having finished saying this, Yang Yu stepped forward, leading Lotcar and Iyas out of the wilderness of the Blood Lion Mansion.

Before Bai Jin and Iyas arrived here, Yang Yu had advised them to maintain a sense of strangeness with him as much as possible until they were on the battlefield, where they would gradually eliminate it.

This was also to prevent others from detecting any clues.
