Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 621: Chapter 621: Sealing Reputation, One on One

Red gathered instantly around Yang Yu, and in a flash, he shot forward like a red bullet, tearing through the air.

The Illusion Shield released by “Interception” greatly widened the path for “Red Blood Path”, almost causing several soldiers near the edge of the wall to be pushed off by Yang Yu’s Skill.

The soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire responded incredibly quickly. Ten Heavy Knights, in two rows, blocked Yang Yu’s path, crouched low, and raised their Shields. United as one, they executed “Unfallen Fortress”, reinforcing their Defense by 50% and reducing their Speed by 20%.

Yang Yu’s “Red Blood Path” collided with the Heavy Soldiers’ Shields as though he had hit a rock weighing thousands of pounds.

The Heavy Knights only stepped back half a step, completely intercepting Yang Yu’s “Red Blood Path”, and the next second, they all swung their Sword Blades at Yang Yu.

Behind Yang Yu, Pison also drew his sword, attacking Yang Yu.

Faced with the pincer attack, Yang Yu calmly drew He Meng from the gap in the Shield, blocking the front attacks with the Shield while rapidly tossing He Meng forward with his right hand.

He Meng’s soft body slipped through the gaps between the Heavy Knights’ Sword Blades, and then, Yang Yu executed a “Support Charge” and, shifting positions, he and He Meng simultaneously appeared behind the Heavy Knights.

But Yang Yu did not attack these Heavy Knights from behind; instead, he put away He Meng and aimed at the Magicians casting spells and the Archers shooting from afar, rapidly charging forward.

Targeting high-damage but fragile enemies in group fights is common sense; attacking an Iron Turtle was basically fruitless.

With swift strikes, several Magicians and Archers with poor Defense couldn’t withstand Yang Yu’s continuous thrusts and were converted into Experience Value on Yang Yu’s stat panel.

The duped Heavy Knights realized something was terribly wrong, turned around, and skillfully launched attacks at Yang Yu.

Alas, the Knights, clad in Heavy Armor and stuffed with cotton materials for warmth inside the armor, moved sluggishly. With Yang Yu’s agile skills, he easily dodged their attacks.

However, the Heavy Knights’ attacks were merely a feint.

As Yang Yu dodged, the defending forces on the left wall of Golden Tangerine City, like they had rehearsed, spread out Magicians and Archers along the wall, briefly aiming at Yang Yu.

In an instant, countless Bows and Arrows and several spells struck at Yang Yu.

And the Heavy Soldiers on the right-side wall, as if they had agreed in advance, raised their large Shields at the same time to prevent these attacks from accidentally hitting other soldiers.

“They’re well-trained, completely different from the army of Wansheng Country. Training such a soldier must cost a pretty penny.”

Since Yang Yu had just used “Interception”, he couldn’t deploy the Illusion Shield, and he had no way to completely avoid such dense ranged attacks.

Since he couldn’t completely dodge, he chose to withstand the attack.

Sweeping his gaze over the panels of the soldiers present, filtering out the Skills he had to avoid, Yang Yu rapidly deployed “Copper Wall Iron Curtain” and “Steel Body”, greatly increasing his damage resistance.

The intense barrage of attacks from the Luoze ranged soldiers engulfed Yang Yu in an instant.

Most of the Magic and Bows and Arrows felt like mere tickles to Yang Yu, with only a very few causing brief, intense pain.

When the attack subsided, Yang Yu’s Blood Volume dropped below half, but he did not fall.

Seeing this, the ranged soldiers reorganized their attack, aiming to deliver a fatal blow to Yang Yu while he was weak.

A flash of red light passed through Yang Yu’s eyes, “Sudden Killing Intent” immediately providing a significant Speed boost, and at the same time, Yang Yu activated “Hunter”.

In just the span of a breath, Yang Yu appeared before the soldiers who were about to cast spells and shoot arrows at him.

A dazzling light ran along Yang Yu’s Sword Blade as he released “Sharp Blade”, enhancing his sword strike damage by 10%.

To be honest, Yang Yu could hardly remember he even had such a Skill.

Even less could he recall whether he got the Skill while fighting the Goblin King or during his investigation for the Giant Umbrella Chamber of Commerce.

Anyway, the damage at that time was pretty lackluster.

Yang Yu once considered giving up on the offensive side in the early days, so he treated skills that enhanced attack power like a stepmother treats her stepson; he let them be wherever it was cool and easy.

But as his level increased, Yang Yu’s basic attributes also grew, and pulling out that skill to chip away at the little soldiers was excellent.

Swinging the few AOE skills, “Horizontal Slash,” Yang Yu harassed the remote soldiers of the Luo Ze Empire with impunity.

His title as the troublemaker in group battles wasn’t for nothing.

Pison had not anticipated such an outcome.

The city wall defense strategy of the Luo Ze Empire was based on the speed and number of enemies scaling the walls.

The defense mounted against Yang Yu was already the highest level.

However, not only did Yang Yu stand unshaken, he also stirred up the waters on the city wall, and his toughness was not inferior to that of the Snowman Clan in the high mountains.

Soldiers farther away had already noticed something amiss and spontaneously organized an attack, intending to drive Yang Yu off the wall, but it would take a little time for them to act.

Now, while still besieging the city, if the already short-handed defenders invested too much in this one man, the defense would become completely muddled.

Pison decided to take a gamble, shouting out to Yang Yu:

“No one else take action!

Pison. Cro. Sioka at your service! I stake my reputation and request a one-on-one duel with you!

If you win, I’ll hand over the city to you. You wouldn’t want your army to suffer heavy casualties, right?”

Yang Yu couldn’t care less about him.

This was war, and one-on-one duels belonged in fairy tales, a romantic scenario not fit for the situation. It was clear that this bearded uncle was simply buying time, trying to delay.

However, Pison’s command did cause quite a few Luo Ze soldiers to hesitate and pause momentarily.

Seizing this opportunity, Yang Yu used his sword to take down a few more remote soldiers.

Failing to communicate, Pison had no choice but to raise his sword and charge at Yang Yu again, employing “Short-range Rapid” to temporarily boost his speed, closing in on Yang Yu rapidly and slashing toward his neck.

“I’ve already told you I’d face you one-on-one; why do you still strike?”

Yang Yu raised his hand, and red spurs instantly covered his shield, clashing with Pison’s sword blade,

“Only a fool wouldn’t strike back! What one-on-one; if I believed that, I’d be dead by now!”

Red electric currents pierced his heart, and Pison just frowned,

“So there’s no room for negotiation?”

“You tell me, is there any need for negotiations now?”

Pison took a step back and launched “Four Consecutive Light Cuts” at Yang Yu.

Four slashes came at once, and Yang Yu lifted his shield, using “Shield Block” to lean into the center of the slashes, successfully defending against three of them. Yang Yu then tilted his head, allowing the last one to brush past his cheek.

Pison, who had been through his fair share of big and small battles, prepared for a second attack upon seeing his own strikes had no effect.

However, he saw the man in front of him, who wore half a mask and had an odd hairstyle, reveal a calm and confident smile.
