Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 644: Chapter 644: Who is Ringing the Bell?

Before East View City, Bai Jin, Iyas, and He Meng had not chosen to ascend the towering city walls.

Initially, the two of them were responsible for covering Yang Yu’s elite team as they climbed the city, and once everyone had made it up, they turned to cover the other troops.

During this period, many Luoze soldiers launched attacks on them on the ground.

Before Bai Jin could deploy the “Ghost Shadow Formation” or Iyas could use the “Sacred Ripples,” one robust Beastman after another stood in front of Bai Jin and Iyas.

“Hey hey! You really can go through with attacking cute girls, huh?”

“My only motivation to fight on the battlefield now is for Miss Yellow Flower.”

“Cough cough, elves are a precious presence on the battlefield! Previously, the boss said we had to protect them well! It’s not personal, it’s official business!”

With the help of these “good Samaritans,” Bai Jin and Iyas barely had to exert much effort to avert the crisis completely.

In any case, if they encountered an unsolvable danger, He Meng would also step forward to act as a shield.

Of course, being protected was not only a privilege for Bai Jin and Iyas, other female soldiers on the battlefield also received a certain amount of help from others.

By midnight, some troops even gathered the female soldiers into safer areas on the battlefield to rest for two to three hours or had them escort the severely wounded back to camp for treatment, temporarily away from this dangerous area.

Iyas and Bai Jin appreciated the kindness of the troops, but in such an important war, they hoped to do more and end the conflict sooner.

Most other female soldiers felt the same.

They had enlisted, not just because there were insufficient male soldiers, but also out of their own desire to do something for the country.

Aside from occasionally resting for twenty or so minutes, Bai Jin and Iyas continuously replenished their stamina and mana with potions, fighting until dawn.

The firepower on the city walls was diminishing, and Bai Jin and Iya shifted their attack focus to the other Luoze soldiers fighting below the city, achieving impressive results.

When the sunlight once again spread over the earth, Bai Jin and Iyas, having battled for a day and a night, nearly reached level ninety.

As time slowly passed, the siege also entered its final phase.

The Lu Hua Army and Kahel were inseparable in their fierce combat, and no one dared come close.

Despite the battle enduring a day and a night, they showed no signs of fatigue, with the clash of blades and swordplay meeting each other.

Before the relationship between the Luoze Empire and Wansheng Country had worsened, the Lu Hua Army had also once been a swordsman traveling the world.

To continuously refine his swordsmanship, he visited various experts everywhere, learning their combat skills.

Hearing that there were many outstanding swordsmen within the Luoze Empire, the Lu Hua Army resolutely applied to go to the Luoze Empire.

However, even then, although the relationship between humans and Beastmen was not bad, crossing over the border directly to enter the realm of humans was still a very challenging task.

In the end, the Lu Hua Army only made it to a few cities that had trade relations with humans.

It was also during that time that he encountered Kahel, an expert who taught martial arts.

But fate played its tricks, and the peaceful interactions between the Luoze Empire and Wansheng Country did not last long before war broke out.

The former master and disciple, due to their differing beliefs, parted ways and fought for their respective countries.

The six-legged white horse charged again, Kahel’s long spear colliding with the Lu Hua Army’s sword.

Kahel, integrated with his horse as if it were truly his legs, had agile movements that were hard to capture; the Lu Hua Army’s sword blade danced in the air, combining with its hard antlers to fend off Kahel’s attacks time and again.

After numerous clashes, neither gained the upper hand, and they sprang apart, tacitly ceasing their attacks.

“You can tell that you didn’t slack off in your training this year; your skills are even more impressive than before.”

“That’s because you’ve neglected your training, and you’re getting on in years. An old man like you should find a serene, picturesque place to live out your remaining years, not risk your life here.

Does the Luo Ze Empire have no one else?

Why send an old man like you to the battlefield?”

“In our Luo Ze Empire, there are indeed many who are better than you.

But I feel they are still not fit for this job.

The battlefield is merciless, and I should be the one to face the fire and water.

After all, I am an old man, and if I die, I die.”

“Is that so? Is that what you thought? Then I needn’t feel any burden.”

Just as the Lu Hua Army raised their swords towards Kahel, a loud bell rang out across the battlefield.

Three long, three short.

“What does this bell signal mean?” Lu Hua Army instinctively asked.

“It’s the signal for retreat. It seems they’ve decided to abandon the city.

We will fight again next time, this time it’s our loss, though we aren’t willing to accept it.”

After speaking, Kahel pulled on his horse’s reins, and the six-legged white horse turned around, leading the chaotic Luo Ze soldiers quickly away from the battlefield, leaving only a small group of soldiers behind.

The bell ringing now was as Kahel had anticipated.

Kahel had only one eye, but it didn’t hinder his observation of the situation on the city walls.

Their army’s losses were beyond imagination.

East View City was a strategic location, but due to the spies mixed among the troops, the human’s boasted Creations didn’t perform at all.

Instead, they were distracted by the need to fix malfunctions, dispersing a large number of forces.

With such a massive malfunction, how many traitors were there in the ranks?

How did these traitors manage to sabotage so many cannons without being noticed?

There were mountains of issues to investigate, and the Beastmen already had complete initiative; continuing the fight was pointless.

Piluf on the city wall also realized this earlier, but just as he was about to give the order to retreat, the bell had already rung.

“What the hell is going on, I’m not dead yet! Who the hell gave the order to retreat and rang the bell!”

Piluf was the commanding general of this battle, and unless he was dead, the command wouldn’t shift; it was forbidden to ring the retreat bell without his express order.

Piluf now desperately wanted to shake off Yang Yu and find out who the bastard was who rang the retreat bell, to stuff the bell ringer into the wall and then ring the bell himself.

Regardless of who the bell ringer was, all the fighting soldiers believed that Piluf had given the order to retreat and began to withdraw in an orderly fashion.

The soldiers in the city no longer continued to support the city walls but left only the troops on the walls to desperately fend off the onslaught of the Beastman Soldiers.

“Kid, this time you’re lucky!”

Having said that, Piluf leaped from the high city wall, and when nearing the ground, he struck the wall with a thunderous punch using the recoil to cushion his fall, and before the Beastman Soldiers could climb down, he escaped with the fleeing troops.
