Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 625: Chapter 625: Capture Accurately

The Long Boots Region got its name because it resembled a knight’s long boots overall.

The Wansheng Country Plain Recovery Army was divided into three parts: east, west, and central.

Yang Yu and his West Fifth Army was located at the shaft of the boot in the Long Boots Region, where both ends had a relatively consistent width, with only part of the disobedient hills thrusting forward at the edge of the region, penetrating into the plain, making the boot shaft resemble a ΣI shape.

If viewed from the sky, it also looked as if someone had patched a triangle onto the boot shaft.

The Recovery Army attacking from the east naturally positioned itself at the toe of the boot.

The Central Recovery Army, on the other hand, was located at the ankle.

The defensive structures built by the Luoze Empire stretched from the toe and the top of the boot shaft toward the central ankle area.

Even though the city walls had not yet been erected, the Central Plain Recovery Army had already seen plenty of stones piling up on the opposite bank of the river.

If the Central Recovery Army were to travel a few dozen kilometers east or west, they could see far in the distance the towering walls constructed by the Luoze Empire.

The Recovery Army typically reclaimed the plains first, then stripped stones from these walls to reinforce the recaptured cities, waiting for Wansheng Country’s spring and summer attacks.

This time should be no exception.

“Let’s go and reclaim the plains that rightfully belong to us.”

Under the leadership of National Guardian General Ajiket, the Central Recovery Army stepped onto the firm river surface and walked towards their original land on the opposite bank.

While the other units waited for the river to freeze over with the heavy snow, Yang Yu’s West Fifth Army did not stop.

“We need people to take charge of scaling the walls and repelling the city guards…”

“I’ll do it!”

Whenever the Lu Hua Army looked for manpower to besiege cities, Yang Yu always raised his hand nonchalantly, the first to jump out, willing to take up this heavy responsibility.

Seeing Yang Yu so enthusiastic, the Lu Hua Army always had a look that said “why is it always you”.

Eventually, they still went with Yang Yu’s troop for the siege.

The cold winter with heavy snow viciously exposed the physical differences between humans and beastmen.

While the Luoze Empire’s soldiers were fretting about how not to freeze solid, under the cover of Yang Yu and his troop, the beastmen sprang forward energetically, like surprise soldiers descending from the heavens, braving the heavy snow to launch surprise attacks on city after city.

In this way, within three snowy days, the First Unit of the West Fifth Army captured five cities in the Long Boots Region.

Yang Yu’s distinctive hairstyle and outstanding performance were imprinted in the eyes of the Lu Hua Army, refreshing their view of him time after time.

Not just the Lu Hua Army, even some soldiers who had not seen Yang Yu personally knew about such a figure in the military from hearsay.

Achieving such feats, Yang Yu was not at ease either; he too was human and occasionally suffered from frostbite after failing to dress warmly right after battles ended.

Fortunately, as an RPG veteran, he naturally prepared extra potions when he had money, just in case.

Looking at the three-digit count of frostbite medicine, burn medicine, anti-numbing medicine, and other potions, Yang Yu felt extremely reassured.

As long as he didn’t use potions massively within a certain period, he didn’t need to worry too much about developing antidrug resistance.

Yang Yu drank the medicine without any mental burden, relieving his body from the frostbite status.

In fact, having absorbed the Racial Essence of the Silver Teeth Clan, Yang Yu’s cold resistance had significantly increased; he could manage with somewhat thin clothing during a normal winter.

But the winter on the Selovomen Plain was far colder and more bone-chilling than one could imagine.

This sentiment was deeply shared by Bai Jin, another human; she received thick warming clothes from Yang Yu, yet wearing them felt like wearing nothing at all.

She took each step into the compressed snow as if she felt the ice piercing through everything, freezing her bones.

Fortunately, Bai Jin remembered that, when she was in the All Things Library, she had heard that high-level magicians would spread their magic power across their bodies to reduce environmental effects, allowing them to use their most proud magic under any circumstances.

So during her rest, Bai Jin quietly spent some time flipping through her notes, and, either by mistake or design, after a long accumulation of basics, she found the key to covering her body with magic power, which eased the cold she felt.

However, to maintain her body temperature required a bit of mana consumption… Moreover, as she still had to fight vigorously, Bai Jin had to drink a Big Blue Potion every two days.

Frightened, Yang Yu quickly added a lot of endurance to Bai Jin.

As for Iyas and He Meng…

Iyas’s power of Holy Light was beyond imagination; she just needed to add some clothes and she would no longer feel cold.

He Meng, this time, chose to hide in the mane around Lotcar’s neck to prevent himself from becoming too stiff to move.

Iyas and Bai Jin were long-range troops; wearing a bit more didn’t really matter, except for slightly reduced mobility, it didn’t affect their output, the only impact was on skill accuracy.

This could be observed repeatedly in the recovery battles.

Part of it was due to the heavy snow affecting visibility, but more because the thick clothes were truly inconvenient.

Seeing the beastman soldiers still wearing thin clothes, or even bare-chested, Yang Yu personally experienced how seasonal factors swayed the course of battle.

Only in winter could Wansheng Country gain such an overwhelming advantage.

Unfortunately, this overwhelming advantage did not help the beastmen completely recover the Sailuomen Plain.

This time, Wansheng Country had deployed a large number of troops to the Sailuomen Plain, but the Luoze Empire wouldn’t just foolishly wait for the plain to be taken back.

In the worst case, the Luoze Empire would, just like Wansheng Country, leave a contingency for a counterattack in the spring and summer.

Ending this war was not as simple as one might imagine.

One person’s heroic combat overturning this war was sheer fantasy.

In these days of recovery battles, Yang Yu increasingly found that human soldiers were well-trained.

This was not something that could be achieved overnight.

The gap between most humans wasn’t as significant as it was among subhumans.

They had no innate talents and no unique appearances.

This meant that these ordinary humans could wear standardized uniforms and undergo large-scale uniform training, transforming themselves into standardized cogs.

Any defensive gap, the human army could find a similarly trained person to fill.

This was a terrifying fact.

In large-scale battles, as long as the officer could properly utilize each tactic, and each soldier, they could achieve effects far greater than the sum of their parts.

What was even more terrifying was that, once a tactic of some unit became feasible, all human armies could perfectly replicate it, quickly forming an absolute dominance and catching the enemy off guard.

When the Luoze soldiers retreated, they did so in such an orderly manner, Yang Yu knew well that the discipline of the Luoze Empire’s army was incredibly strict.

The more so it was, the more Yang Yu realized the gravity of the issue.

Trading Luoze Empire’s prisoners for an equal number of subhuman prisoners, Wansheng Country was virtually losing on all fronts.

Yang Yu also investigated and found that at the beginning of the war, Wansheng Country could evenly match the Luoze Empire, otherwise, the war wouldn’t have stalemated until now.

It was just that the Luoze Empire could quietly seize one detail after another, catch one mistake after another from Wansheng Country, make robust decisions, and continuously expand its own advantages.
