Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Chapter 611: Chapter 611: Wanting to Desert, I Disagree

From the loudspeaker, a “sizzle” noise came, and the recruits shook as they stood up, glaring at Yang Yu, demanding an explanation.

Gla, watching this scene, did not stop them.

Normally, he also used this method.

Anger, as an emotion, is often stronger than others.

The simplest way to capture someone’s attention is to manipulate their anger, guiding them into rage.

Truthfully, despite the severe casualties and initial setbacks, while Gla had thought of using the same tactic as Yang Yu, his heart softened in the end, and he decided to first soothe the recruits.

If that proved ineffective, he’d resort to other methods.

But Yang Yu just blurted it out directly.

“Things have just got more interesting.”

Gla stared unblinkingly at Yang Yu on the wooden crate,

“What are you going to do next? After attracting so much hatred, how do you plan to dissolve it?

Even I haven’t thought of a good strategy yet.”

Just in case, Gla moved closer to Yang Yu.

He was ready if Yang Yu said something inappropriate—he would hold him down, tell him to shut up, and then take the blame himself.

As it turned out, Yang Yu performed even better than Gla expected.

“If you didn’t hear it clearly, then I’ll say it again.

I am not targeting anyone in particular—I’m saying everyone here is trash.

Perhaps, many of you have noticed that I’m not like you Beastmen; I’m of mixed Plant Clan heritage.

I don’t have your excellent sense of smell and hearing.

Theoretically, you should have detected the enemy before me, known their direction and location, and been able to prepare calmly.

You should have been ready to meet the enemy even before General Gla gave the order.

Yet, you all were in panic, as if completely unaware of where the enemy was coming from.

Is this what you learned from your NCOs?

This is flat-out a disgrace to the NCOs who trained you!

There are far too many points worth criticizing, I don’t even know where to begin.

All I know is…

If just now you had paused to think for just one second before the enemy attack came, the casualties wouldn’t have been so high.”

Yang Yu took a deep breath, his heated words gradually calming down,

“You all should know, war is cruel.

The attack that just happened proves this point.

Our brothers, who were laughing with us just a short time ago, had their lives taken in an instant, fell into pools of blood.

I know, many of you are considering beating a retreat, not wanting to get involved in this war, but please think about why you are here.

Isn’t it to protect your country, everything you love?

Just think, if Wansheng Country loses this war, what will become of you and me? What about your families, your friends?

The Subhumans once spread widely across this continent, so why are they now driven to this godforsaken place?

Humans detest Subhumans.

It’s not hard to imagine, after Wansheng Country’s defeat, Subhumans would likely be treated by humans as things they can simply destroy at will, right?

Without hiding anything from you, the elf who could use the intense Flame Magic, somewhat turning the tide of the battle, was once reduced to someone else’s plaything, had countless unwilling magics forced upon him, nearly betraying his own beliefs.”

If not for an accident, she would still be reduced to being someone else’s everything.

Do you want to see your loved ones and friends suffer this pain?

Don’t say, “I believe Wansheng Country will eventually win the victory, one more or one less of me doesn’t matter,” such foolish words.

Sometimes, it has to be you.

On the battlefield, the situation changes in an instant; no one is destined to be mere cannon fodder.

An unintended decision of yours could potentially change the direction of this war.

Including your choice to leave now.

Storing the loudspeaker back into the system, Yang Yu took out his sword and shield again,

“However, I won’t let you leave and become deserters.

Once this precedent is set on the battlefield, the front lines will completely collapse.

Although most people are reluctant to admit it, now, we are all in this war.

From the moment you left Baihua City, you became soldiers of Wansheng Country.

I am a Centurion personally appointed by His Majesty, and my decisions now could also possibly change the direction of this war.

There are laws for the country and rules for the military; without these, there is no order.

If you dare to run away, according to military law, I will personally behead you.

Since it’s a matter of death, let your blood spill on this battlefield to end this pointless war.”

Yang Yu landed on the ground under the watchful eyes of the new recruits, kicked a wooden box to smithereens, and walked towards the fallen bodies, beginning to clear the battlefield alone.

The new recruits looked at each other uncertainly.

Under Yang Yu’s unique “inspiration,” many remembered how old soldiers, even in death, tried their utmost to protect them and the supplies. They empathized with Yang Yu’s words.

They crouched down, closed the eyes of the dead recruits, and were determined to continue heading to the frontlines.

Even if their own strength was minimal, they wanted to contribute to the survival of Wansheng Country.

But, there were still many with weak hearts, undecided.

Seeing the timing was about right, Gla went up and gave a few pointers, affirming several of Yang Yu’s points, including punishing deserters according to military law.

However, although Yang Yu was a Centurion, these people were not under his command to execute, which was an overreach.

So, when necessary, Gla would take action personally.

After speaking, Gla burst out with a terrifying murderous intent, and no one thought of escaping anymore.

Although it didn’t completely eliminate negative emotions within the troops, it at least suppressed them somewhat.

Gla, together with other veteran soldiers, organized the new recruits to clear the battlefield.

This was something the new recruits were supposed to learn from the old soldiers upon reaching the frontlines, but taking this opportunity to get the recruits accustomed to dealing with the deceased wasn’t a bad idea.

Cleaning the battlefield didn’t take long, and to allow the new recruits time to rest assuredly, Gla had them clean up in turns, also giving the recruits time to compose themselves.

Gla sent out scouts to survey the vicinity to ensure that the Luoze soldiers who had attacked them earlier wouldn’t make a surprise return assault.

After simply dealing with the corpses of soldiers from both countries, the recruits once again lined up, and following Gla, they headed towards the plains according to the predetermined route.

This time, the recruits had learned their lesson; even though they hadn’t reached the frontline yet, within the areas controlled by Wansheng Country, they were all extremely vigilant.

However, they didn’t notice that, in a place they couldn’t see, a strange bat was watching everything.

It was bizarre enough that a bat was out during the day.

Moreover, this bat was maintaining a certain distance, following behind the troop of Wansheng Country’s new recruits.

Once the new recruits had gradually left the forest, the bat followed another route, checking on the Sicakun team that hurried back overnight to report.

After confirming the condition of both teams, it sent messages to two locations, then the bat flapped its wings high into the air, transformed into darkness, and silently disappeared.
