After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 284: Chapter 285: Please Be Good to Her [2]

Before she could react, he had pressed her thumb into the cinnabar to get some paint and made a thumbprint on the base of the miniature clay figure.

After thanking the old man, he took her hand and led her out of the marketplace.

Wiping the paint off her finger with a wet wipe, she glanced at Leng Zimo who was examining the miniature clay figure from all angles, and Luo Xiaoqian’s curiosity got the better of her as she moved closer to him.

”I didn’t expect you to like this kind of thing!” she said.

”This isn’t just something; this is a person, and her name is Luo Xiaoqian.” Leng Zimo waggled the thumbprint under the clay figure seriously. ”From today on, she’s mine!”

Luo Xiaoqian laughed, ”Well, she’s definitely not me!”

”Are you going back on your word?” Leng Zimo raised an eyebrow.

”What promise?” Luo Xiaoqian was confused.

Leng Zimo looked at her earnestly, ”You said you’d give me anything I wanted, and I don’t want anything but Luo Xiaoqian!”

Luo Xiaoqian was stunned.

She just made an offhand remark, and he took it seriously?!

In the crowd, the sparkle in his eyes was brighter than the colorful lights and more dazzling than the stars, and she once again saw her reflection in his eyes.

The world was so vast, yet his eyes were filled with her image.

”I am not that fat!” she protested.

Feeling her face heat up, she gave him a glance and turned to walk away.

Leng Zimo quickly caught up to her, carefully cradling the clay figure in one hand while grabbing her hand with the other, intertwining their fingers.

Luo Xiaoqian curled her fingers one by one, grasping his hand in return.

Surrounded by a sea of strangers, she didn’t feel lonely at all.

...

...

The car drove through Central Axis Road and into World City. Instead of parking in the garage, Leng Zimo stopped the car outside the building.

”I won’t go up,” he said as he helped her open the car door, ”Remember to lock the door, and then call me. I’ll leave once you’re home.”

He was that kind of man, always giving her the time she asked for.

Although he wanted to walk her to her door, he was afraid that once he did, he would have trouble leaving just like last night.

”What about you?” Luo Xiaoqian asked.

”I’ll stay at the company. There’s work to do anyway,” Leng Zimo replied.

She got out of the car with the bouquet, closed the car door behind her, and walked forward a few steps, then suddenly turned back as if she remembered something. She circled the front of the car to his side of the window.

Leng Zimo, puzzled, rolled down the window. ”Is something wrong?”

She bent down to his window saying, ”I forgot to say goodnight to you, and you really don’t have to wait for my call...”

He lifted his hand to her chin, giving her lips a gentle nip, ”Are you trying to get me to walk you upstairs?”

Luo Xiaoqian shook her head, her face red.

By all that is sacred, she just wanted to tell him he didn’t need to wait for her call. It was just an elevator ride; what could possibly happen?

”Either go upstairs and wait for my call obediently, or let me escort you up. Choose one!” he said.

Rolling her eyes at him, Luo Xiaoqian turned and dashed up the steps, walked through the building entrance, rode the elevator, and once home, she immediately dialed his number.

”I’m home safely.”

”Luo Xiaoqian, it took me a long time to fall in love with someone, so please be good to her!” Leng Zimo’s voice was deep and mellow on the phone.

For over two decades, he had lived well on his own. Yet in the short time after meeting her, she had faced too many troubles. He really didn’t want anything else to happen to her.

Luo Xiaoqian’s chest felt tight, and she was speechless, gripping the phone and nodding her head. After a long while, she finally managed to squeeze out one word.

”Okay!”
