After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 266: Chapter 267 I Just Dialed the Wrong Number [3]

”No,” Luo Xiaoqian covered the mouthpiece, sniffled, and then randomly wiped her face, ”you heard it wrong.”

”What on earth happened?” Leng Zimo pressed from the other end.

From his knowledge of her, she would never call him at this time if it wasn’t something important.

”Really, it’s nothing!” Luo Xiaoqian bit her lip, ”I just...”

I just didn’t want to leave you, I just missed you, I just wanted to say or maybe we could try...

But hearing his voice, she couldn’t bring herself to say it. She was scared, scared of hearing him reject her.

”Are you feeling unwell or is there a problem with work?” Leng Zimo asked again.

Biting her teeth hard, Luo Xiaoqian said in a low voice, ”I just dialed the wrong number!”

It was as if a layer of ice water had been suddenly poured over him; Leng Zimo’s heart shriveled in an instant.

Just dialed the wrong number, so it was just a wrong dial!

Leng Zimo let his right hand fall limply and pressed the end call button, casually tossing his phone onto the table.

The phone landed on the table with a dull thud, a sound that struck Luo Xiaoqian’s eardrums sharply on her end.

Overcome with deep frustration, Leng Zimo had no idea that, in his casual press, he didn’t end the call, but activated the speakerphone instead.

Had she angered him again?!

She really was foolish. How could she let the call connect, why did she say it was a wrong number, couldn’t she have thought of a reason?!

Filled with self-reproach and frustration in an instant, Luo Xiaoqian bit her lip and finally couldn’t stop herself from bursting into tears.

”Luo Xiaoqian, you dummy, you have to screw everything up!”

On the other side of the phone.

Leng Zimo, hearing the cries coming from his phone, frowned deeply and turned his face, once again grabbing the phone from the table.

Through the phone, her sobbing sounded somewhat muffled, yet he could still clearly hear that she was crying.

He glanced at the phone which hadn’t hung up, deactivated the speakerphone, brought the phone to his ear, and her crying became even more prominent, interspersed with faint mutters - not curses at him, but at herself.

”Luo Xiaoqian, you’re a coward... a coward...”

Bent over her knees, Luo Xiaoqian indulged in her weeping, letting all the suppressed emotions of the past few days burst forth.

Her phone had already slipped to the side of her leg, and she didn’t notice at all that the call was still ongoing.

”Xiao Qian!”

Leng Zimo was calling her name from his end, but she didn’t hear him at all.

Listening to the completely unrestrained sobbing on the opposite side, Leng Zimo’s heart crumpled, and turning around, he dashed back to the bed and picked up the room’s landline.

In the guest room, the landline phone abruptly rang, and Luo Xiaoqian lifted her face, staring at the suddenly ringing phone, completely taken aback.

It took her a while to come back to her senses, wiping her face, she reached over to pick up the receiver.

”If you dare cry again, I will fly to the Maldives right now. Tell me, what exactly happened?”

As she moved the receiver to her ear, Leng Zimo’s voice came charging out of it, pouring into her ears.

”I...”

”I heard your crying just now!” Leng Zimo sighed on the other end of the phone, his tone turned gentler, ”What happened exactly?”

Luo Xiaoqian was taken aback, frantically glancing at the phone beside her, and that’s when she realized the phone was still on, the call hadn’t been disconnected after all.

He heard everything?!

After waiting a few seconds and hearing no response from her, Leng Zimo’s voice came again, ”Are you trying to force me to go to the Maldives to find you?”
