After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 268: Chapter 269 I Love You [5]

Unable to say everything that was on her mind, Luo Xiaoqian felt somewhat relieved.

Listening to his familiar scolding, her heart was filled only with sadness.

In the future, she would never hear him scold her again, would she?!

”I’ve said my piece, starting now, I won’t trouble you anymore. When I get back to Beijing, I’ll pack up my things. I’ll return your card and money too, Leng Zimo... Goodbye!”

With tears in her eyes, she uttered the last two words. No matter how much it hurt, how heartbreaking it was, it was her own problem. Since he had decided to give up, she would not cling to him anymore.

”Dare to hang up the phone and see what happens!”

Leng Zimo was so angry he felt like he was about to explode!

If he truly wanted to give up on her, would he call her over and over again?

He wished he could truly give up on her. That way, he wouldn’t be like now, distracted even during important work tasks, constantly thinking about her, worrying for her, feeling heartache for her...

”Luo Xiaoqian, listen to me clearly, when I said I wanted to drive you away, it was out of anger. You have no idea what my feelings were like at that moment. Whatever I see, I’m reminded of you. I feel like I’m going insane, Luo Xiaoqian, you can’t imagine what these past few days have been like for me. Apart from when my mother passed away, I have never felt this out of touch. Luo Xiaoqian, it’s not that I like you, I have fallen in love with you. Love! Did you hear that? I love you, Luo Xiaoqian, you fool. Can’t you feel it? Don’t you have a heart? Who do you think I, Leng Zimo, am? Just someone who does anything for a woman on a whim...”

He roared on the other end of the phone, like a beast gone mad.

Yet this time, Luo Xiaoqian felt a surge of sweet emotion melting in her heart through his anger.

He said he didn’t want to drive her away.

He said he’s been thinking about her.

He said he loved her!

Luo Xiaoqian gripped the handset tightly, letting it press painfully against her ear, and yet, she refused to move it away even slightly, just quietly listening, listening to him roar on the other end of the phone.

On the other end, Leng Zimo took a deep breath, his tone softening, ”I know I was too anxious. You’ve just been through the ordeal with Lu Hao; you can’t accept me right away. I don’t expect you to agree to be with me forever immediately. We can take it slow, gradually.”

Tears welled up in her eyes again, and Luo Xiaoqian started crying.

”Leng Zimo, am I dreaming?”

”Though it’s late at night, there’s still sunlight here. I’m very clear-headed right now, and you’re not asleep either!” he replied earnestly, then added, ”You just asked if the call was from Zhuo Yannan. I did call him to ask about your situation because your line was busy, so I called him instead. Who were you talking to for so long?”

The last sentence was asked with a domineering suspicion, heavy with jealousy in his tone.

”That was because I was calling Teacher Xu. I knew you were together, so I called to ask,” explained Luo Xiaoqian.

All day, aside from the call to Xu Xiaoyang, she hadn’t made a single call, so she could guess without even thinking that it must have been then that Xu Xiaoyang said he was on the phone.

She had not imagined that at that time, he was calling her.

”Asking about me?”

”I didn’t dare call you, so I had to call him!”

Leng Zimo brought a hand to his forehead, a look of helplessness on his face.

So, he had been jealous of himself all along!
