After rejecting my celebrity husband

Chapter 267: Chapter 268: It’s Just Angry Words [4]

Luo Xiaoqian snapped back to reality, realizing that he knew she was in the Maldives, so...

”Was that phone call just now from you?”

”What phone call?”

Her train of thought was too erratic, and Leng Zimo also hadn’t expected that she would know about that call, so he didn’t respond immediately.

Indeed, it wasn’t him!

She thought to herself, if he already didn’t want her, why would he still care about her? Seeing the planning proposal, he must have known she was there, perhaps he was just trying to comfort her out of kindness after hearing her cry?!

Her heart felt like it sank to the bottom of a valley, and Luo Xiaoqian gently inhaled, trying hard to control her emotions.

”I’m really okay, just hang up!”

On the other end of the phone, Leng Zimo abruptly gripped the handset tighter.

She was clearly sobbing messily, yet she said she was fine. This girl, was she trying to drive him crazy?

”Luo Xiaoqian!” he said, his voice barely containing his anger, ”You listen carefully now, this is your last chance. Tell me, what exactly happened?! The countdown starts now, I’m giving you five seconds, 5...”

Last chance?

If she didn’t speak up, would that mean he would never bother with her again, right?

”4, 3...”

Luo Xiaoqian gripped the handset tightly.

”2, 1!”

”Don’t!” she yelled out desperately, ”Don’t hang up, don’t ignore me, don’t push me away!”

If this was her last opportunity, she didn’t want to lose it. Even if he really wanted to give up on her and push her away, at least she wanted him to know how she felt. Then, the decision would be up to him.

On the other end of the line, Leng Zimo was first taken aback upon hearing her words, then his brow furrowed.

”When did I ever say I was going to push you away?”

”You did, you said it at World City; I heard it all!”

In Luo Xiaoqian’s voice, there was a mix of grievance and anger.

Talking about forever, and now so quickly wanting to push her away?!

Hearing her somewhat chaotic words, Leng Zimo quickly analyzed the situation and came to a conclusion, ”You were also at World City, why didn’t you show up?”

”I... I was afraid to see you!” Luo Xiaoqian said softly.

”I was just speaking out of anger,” he hurried to explain.

Luo Xiaoqian sniffled, ”Really?”

”Why don’t you go wash your face with some hot water, okay?” he suggested gently.

”Not okay!” she clung to the handset, refusing to let go.

Frightened that once the call ended, it could be forever.

Seeing her emotional instability, Leng Zimo didn’t insist further, ”Alright, then what exactly do you want to tell me?”

By now, he had certainly confirmed that she hadn’t dialed the wrong number; she truly wanted to reach him.

”I...” Luo Xiaoqian mustered her courage, ”Leng Zimo, I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t be saying these things, but I... I just can’t help wanting to tell you, I thought I could move out of World City nonchalantly, but I’ve realized that I can’t do it, just the thought of becoming strangers with you after this makes it so hard for me to do anything, it hurts so much inside...”

Ever since the day he got out of the car and left, she had thought he was just angry with her. However, afterward at World City, when she heard him saying he wanted to push her away, she realized that this man truly intended to give up on her. These past days, she thought of him endlessly, terrified by the thought of being pushed away upon returning to the Capital, an agony far worse, by thousands of times, than when Lu Hao had abandoned her.

Leng Zimo’s heart was suddenly filled with overwhelming emotions.

How could she know that he felt exactly the same?

”Idiot!”

He cursed softly, yet with a helpless tenderness, on the other end of the phone.
