High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2441: Chapter 662: Tuesday

Zheng Qing had no interest in the activities organized by ’Give Me a Frog’ or ’Give Him a Frog’.

The troubles were already too many.

He didn’t feel the freshness of ’Spring starts, everything renews’ at the beginning of the new semester. Instead, he felt more like it was midway through the term, with everything entangling him, deep in mud, suffocating him.

Just like Xiao Xiao grumbled at noon—it’s only the first day of school!

From two to five in the afternoon, there was a regular Fu Lu Class, followed by Time Conversion Symbol Science; then a one-hour break, and from six to nine in the evening, there was another Yin Fu Studies class.

Fortunately, at the beginning of the semester, professors hadn’t assigned much homework yet, allowing young students a few breaths of respite. Even so, due to the new schedule, he still felt a bit overwhelmed.

Fifteen hours of classes, five teaching professors, four different classes of students (three of which were strangers), all crammed into the young wizard’s mind, keeping him in a state of extreme tension all day, until he collapsed into sleep at night in the dormitory.

The next day, Tuesday.

Zheng Qing felt he opened his eyes purely out of habit.

For when he woke up, it was precisely six in the morning, time for morning class again. Of course, to others, or rather to the professor, it seemed he had slept eight hours, naturally waking up.

Zheng Qing had no energy to argue over such trivial matters with the professor.

When he woke, the sky was already brightening, his mind blank, long-awaited, no monsters or chase scenes in his dreams, just a void, making him feel like he had just returned from The Land of Void.

Zheng Qing forgot where he read this phrase, every sleep is a death, every awakening is a rebirth. He used to think this saying carried some subtle truth, but now, he only felt it was a reversed realism.

For, in his grogginess, he suddenly believed that sleep was the rebirth, and awakening was death.

Tuesday morning’s regular time slot was a Divination Class.

His elective was Second-Order Battle Array Theory—Zheng Qing chose this course for convenience, as the Absolution Hunting Team was already proficient in Second-Order Arrays, making it evidently easier to guide theoretical learning from practice.

Just like yesterday afternoon, before the Divination professor entered the classroom, Zheng Qing prudently wore an invisibility talisman, shrunk into the corner, staying silent, while waiting for Xin Fat Man to bring him and the professor breakfast.

Usually, the Fat Wizard would bring breakfast to wait outside of Flying Garden, but this morning, before Zheng Qing finished his unarmed routine, he received Xin’s message, advising them to head to the classroom early.

”Too many people are eager to find out about you, I almost didn’t make it out of the cafeteria alive!”

The Fat Wizard scribbled in the paper crane, wretched handwriting: ”I’ll drop by the editorial department first, help you scope today’s public opinion. Don’t respond to any interviews! Don’t talk to any strangers! Don’t answer any questions!”

Even without his thrice emphasized advice, Zheng Qing would not accept any interviews, answer any questions. This was his valuable experience after meeting with a Beta Town Post journalist in the second term of his freshman year.

”Nicholas didn’t come to class, nor did Liu Fei Fei save him a seat.” Xiao Xiao pretended to study his textbook, resting his head, whispering near the corner where he found a blank spot: ”... Carmen isn’t here either. I inquired, and the Gypsy witches from other classes haven’t been around these days, likely...”

A few crumpled letters emerged from the void, shoved under Xiao Xiao’s nose.

”Yesterday’s paper cranes I received,” Zheng Qing’s voice weakly emanated from the air: ”I just read them, hardly any of value... But these should answer your speculations... They are all from Gypsy witches, though I’m not familiar with them, I remember hearing their names with Elena before.”

Xiao Xiao wisely didn’t latch onto the name mentioned by the invisible person, instead pushing his glasses, concentrating on reading the letters.

The content was similar, some asked Zheng Qing what textbooks were needed, some inquired whether he knew other professors at the Edge Academy, while others simply sent greetings, expressing their love for the First University and magical knowledge.

”Is Brother Qing here?” A thin humpbacked figure suddenly appeared beside Xiao Xiao’s table, stretching his body, grabbing empty air at the vacant seat next to him: ”I thought I just saw you talking...”

Xiao Xiao calmly watched Duan Xiao Jian grab at nothing.

Only then did he push him away.

”I’m just previewing the textbook, today’s divination involves fate analysis, quite difficult.” While speaking, he noticed the chatting voices in the classroom suddenly lowered greatly, at least half of the people were cautiously studying their corner, so he softly drew a breath, slightly raised his voice: ”... As for Zheng Qing, didn’t he become a teaching assistant? He was taken by the assistant team for a meeting earlier this morning... No idea when he’ll be back.”

Immediately, disappointed voices arose around.

”Such a pity,” Duan Xiao Jian chuckled dryly, rubbing his hands, like a skinny fly: ”I heard Su Councilor might become the dean of Edge Academy, is it true? If it is, I bet there will be many wanting to drop out and transfer among the four colleges...”

A plump arm reached from behind, roughly pushing aside the thin warlock.

”Opinion is like a burlesque dancer, showing whatever the audience wants to see. No integrity!” Xin Fat Man crudely concluded Duan Xiao Jian’s ’hearsay’, then turned the conversation: ”Absolution Hunting Team needs a brief meeting, discussing the friendly matches with other hunting teams... So...”

He gestured apologetically to Duan Xiao Jian, quickly propped up a small barrier.

Inside the barrier, Zheng Qing exhaled heavily, tearing off the invisibility talisman hanging on him, grabbing the paper bag from the Fat Wizard’s hand, pulling out a meat bun, and stuffing it into his stomach in a few bites: ”I’m starving... I feel like I could eat a whole cow right now!”

”No, you can’t.” The Fat Wizard tilted his head in surprise, looking at his ’new’ desk mate: ”Why are you sitting in the Elder’s seat...”

”If he sat next to me, he would’ve been caught by Duan Xiao Jian just now. This was entirely his idea.” Xiao Xiao raised his hand and bean milk, as if attending a ball: ”Crisis forces one to grow swiftly.”

Zheng Qing snatched his cup, gulped a few sips, swallowing the bun, then breathlessly asked: ”What on earth was that about Duan’s saying... Su Shijun becoming the dean of Edge Academy!”
