High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2434: Chapter 655: First Class of the Second Semester of Sophomore Year

”What are you all blocking the doorway for?”

”Don’t you know class is about to start?”

Old Yao seemed to appear at the classroom door, hands behind his back, looking around with a stern expression. The young wizards, previously clustered together, dispersed quickly, each returning to their seat with their own books, leaving Zheng Qing and two others behind at the door.

”I did warn you all!”

The stick figure behind the door shouted in a small voice, then obediently closed its mouth under Old Yao’s stern gaze and knelt neatly in the corner of the white paper.

On the way back to his seat, Zheng Qing remembered that it was Old Yao who mentioned in the office to him and Jiang Yu about Sister Korma and Professor Montreya becoming deputy deans, not during the meeting.

In other words, he inadvertently disclosed a not-so-secret secret just now.

This made him a bit annoyed.

Additionally, when he passed by Jiang Yu’s desk, he inexplicably felt a little guilty, quickening his pace slightly. However, before he even sat down, Old Yao’s voice rang behind him.

”What does the dean or deputy dean of the Edge Academy have to do with you?” The Jiuyou Academy’s dean was not angry, but his tone was not pleasant, making the young wizards in the classroom silent as cicadas in winter: ”What did I ask you in last night’s meeting? Tang Dun, answer!”

A bear-like figure slowly stood up and replied in a deep voice, ”Last night you asked us about the mission of Jiuyou Academy... Jiuyou Academy’s mission is equality and justice.”

”I just emphasized yesterday, when you do volunteer service to practice ’equality and justice’, and not even twenty-four hours have passed, and you treat my words as mere wind in your ears, like you’ve been possessed by long-tongued ghosts... do I need to draw a few Evil-Exorcising Charms and stick them on your foreheads?”

Zheng Qing bet that there was definitely more than one person in the class internally shouting ’need’ at the moment—after all, if getting an Evil-Exorcising Charm drawn by a Legendary Wizard were that easy, it would be too cheap.

The professor on the podium obviously ’read’ the minds of many young wizards.

”Each and every one of you!”

Old Yao snorted softly, seemingly wanting to laugh but holding it back, walking with a stern face across the podium before slowly speaking again: ”The real nature of First University is a place for passing on the Dao, imparting knowledge, and solving doubts. Education can allow those on the fringes of the Alliance to integrate into this unfamiliar yet familiar world quickly and safely in the most secure way.

Only education can erase old pains, prevent the continuation of hatred, and allow Northern District Wizards or Gypsy women to have more independent personalities and regain a better living environment!

I hope this is the last time I hear you discuss this matter.

I don’t want to hear words like ’Secondary Wizard’ in my academy again—these words do nothing but make you appear uncultured!

Now, open your ”Standard Spells·Sophomore Year Edition (Part II)”. Today, we’re learning the dispelling thought and structure of the ’Anti-love spell’; you’re almost in your junior year, this spell will be very useful in protecting yourselves...”

Zheng Qing opened the textbook and looked at the phrase ’One can still escape from indulgence’ but couldn’t help recalling the ’Northern District worship craze’ phenomenon he discussed with his companions during breakfast.

Suddenly, he felt that the school strengthening education for Northern District Wizards might have also seen the potential negative effects of this worship craze and wanted to alleviate this blind adoration from a certain angle.

Since some students hadn’t arrived at school yet, and to help the young wizards regather their focus after the holiday, the content of the first class wasn’t very difficult.

It only took half a class for Old Yao to clearly explain the spell structure of this new spell and even mentioned a few variations. The remaining time was for students to pair or trio up to cast and dispel spells as classroom practice.

”You shouldn’t have grouped with the two of us.”

Xin Fat Man, holding his bulky Law book, made suggestive gestures at Zheng Qing: ”This spell... you should practice with the class monitor a few more times.”

”I don’t want to be in a group with you either.” Zheng Qing looked seriously at the fat wizard in front of him, speaking sincerely: ”To be honest, looking at your chubby face, I can’t release the ’Enchantment Spell’ at all... it feels like my spell committed suicide in my throat before it even had the chance to come out.”

A hint of dangerous blue appeared on the fat wizard’s face, but before he could speak, Doctor Xiao next to him became impatient.

”Stop the nonsense, you two!”

Xiao Xiao tapped his fingers on his Bamboo Slip Law Book, making a constant thumping sound: ”The school wouldn’t allow warlocks and witches to practice the Enchantment Spell on each other in class...”

”So, do they allow warlock-to-warlock practice?” Xin Fat Man squinted, staring at the short warlock.

Xiao Xiao hesitated for a moment.

”Warlock... to warlock, well, the risk is ultimately smaller.” He reluctantly explained, then changed the subject: ”So, are you two going to practice or not? If not, I’ll team up with someone else!”

”Practice! Practice!”

Zheng Qing quickly nodded, paused his Fox Tail Brush on the Law book, and looked at Xiao Xiao: ”Then I’ll cast the Enchantment Spell first, and you dispel it?”

Xiao Xiao gave a small nod, slightly widened the distance between them, and tightened the grip on his Law book.

”In a leisurely manner, tossing and turning!”

A pink spell light rose from Zheng Qing’s brass Law book, swirled briefly, and then rushed towards Xiao Xiao’s face with a fragrant breeze, like a rabbit being chased by a dog.

”One can still escape from indulgence!”

A blue light emerged from the Bamboo slips, quickly and easily shattering the pink spell light.

Zheng Qing discreetly let out a small sigh of relief and instinctively glanced sideways towards the witches, only to be surprised that it was Liu Fei Fei practicing with Li Meng, with no sight of Jiang Yu.

He still wanted to take another look, but the sound of Xiao Xiao flipping the bamboo slips reached his ears.

”My turn!” The diviner from the Absolution Hunting Team cleared his throat, softly chanting: ”Ready, three, two, one... In a leisurely manner, tossing and turning!”

The pink spell light rose between his hands from the Bamboo Slip, but before it had a chance to swirl, a sharp blue light from the side shattered it to pieces, leaving the group of warlocks surprised, all turning towards the source.

”Oh no...”

The fat wizard made odd noises in his throat like a rooster being choked, quickly glancing at his companions beside him and retreating a small step unnoticed.

Xiao Xiao adjusted his glasses without saying a word.

Zheng Qing felt an itch on his back, internally grumbling about the too-harsh end-of-winter, early-spring sunlight outside the window.

In the silence, other students who were practicing spells also stopped, craning their necks excitedly to watch the figure slowly approaching the three warlocks.

”Don’t use the Enchantment Spell on him carelessly.”

Jiang Yu stopped in front of the three warlocks, her expression indifferent, glancing casually at Xiao Xiao and Xin Fat Man, pausing, and emphasizing: ”...certainly not on males!”

Then she turned to Zheng Qing: ”Professor Yao is looking for you, let’s go.”

With that, she turned and walked out of the classroom.

Zheng Qing didn’t say a word, didn’t bid farewell to his two companions, didn’t ask what Old Yao wanted, nor where Old Yao was, just obediently packed up his brass Law book and Fox Tail Brush, and quietly followed the witch out of the classroom, amidst the jeering and teasing sounds around him.
