High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2417: Chapter 638: A Lesson Before School Starts

Zhu Si’s story, Zheng Qing naturally knew.

Perhaps this was also why Baoyangzi specifically chose this case to remind him. But Zheng Qing did not believe the two incidents had much in common.

”We are not seven or eight-year-old children, Professor.” The young man rarely showed a firm attitude, making the witch beside him glance at him in surprise.

”Whether eight or eighteen, to us, there isn’t much difference.” The elder wizard from the relevant department pinched the thick law book, glaring at him with a snort—it’s true, for someone a few hundred years old, the difference between eight and eighteen is indeed insignificant.

Zheng Qing still wanted to argue a bit.

Behind the desk, the headmaster of Jiuyou Academy tapped the pipe in his hand.

”Early graduation has already been confirmed as a matter of fact. And using the ’Time Converter’ is the best option, without exception.”

Old Yao gave Baoyangzi a deep look, his tone carrying undeniable firmness: ”There are only two things the relevant department can do now: either rigidly stick to those regulations hidden in obscure corners to prevent them from using the Time Converter; or watch coldly as these two outstanding young people are overwhelmed by dozens of courses within a semester, then drop dead on the way to class one morning, or choke while eating too fast... Ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what to do.”

The boy and the girl exchanged glances, both thinking the professor’s words were slightly exaggerated, but wisely remained silent, not intervening in the confrontation between the elders.

Baoyangzi was silent for a long time.

His gaze wandered between Zheng Qing and Jiang Yu, his brows furrowed tightly.

After a while, he finally huffed reluctantly and turned to the office’s owner: ”Must both be approved? If Zheng Qing wants to suffer, that’s fine, but what about this girl? Does she know how dangerous using the Time Converter is?”

Old Yao raised his hand to stop Jiang Yu from speaking, smiling, ”Dangerous or not, that’s her own choice... When you’re young, all the efforts to protect love won’t feel like hardship, but happiness.”

The witch’s pale face instantly turned red.

The boy, on the other hand, shifted uncomfortably, as if trying to make himself a little smaller.

”You’re asking for trouble.”

The white-bearded old man couldn’t catch the subtle atmosphere in the air, rubbing the hard cover of the law book and speaking with some irritation: ”One after another... still freshmen! Haven’t even graduated sophomore year! If they were juniors who had systematically studied ’Basic Time Theory’ or elected ’Time View in Dimension Theory,’ a simple interview would suffice... but now... the Alliance already has significant issues with us.”

”You have the authority granted by ’The Code’ to supervise the use of the Time Converter,” Old Yao gently reminded.

Baoyangzi let out a heavy sigh.

”I will not relax the review process.”

He pulled out a feather pen and quickly marked up the two documents, speaking harshly: ”In any case... you’ve been made aware of the risks, right? ... No, still no... I think they both need a supplementary session on ’The Basic Principles of Time Conversion.’ Mind if I temporarily use this office?”

He put away the feather pen, casting an irritable glance at the office director.

”As you wish, as you wish.”

Old Yao packed his pipe into his mouth, raising his hand with a smile, making a ’please’ gesture, while kindly reminding: ”This afternoon, there won’t be any outsiders in my office.”

Baoyangzi, with a stern face, fished a pocket watch from his pocket, opened the cover, and pressed the metal button on top of the case.

Click, the button popped up.

”First, I will have you briefly experience the feeling of ’Time Adjustment’ to confirm that neither of you has certain peculiar space-time allergic reactions.” The old man cast a stern glance at the two young wizards, then lowered his head, turning the metal button on his pocket watch, murmuring softly: ”So... three and a half hours, that’s the duration you need to feel.”

One turn, two turns, three turns, and then another half a turn.

Click, he pressed the button back into place.

Swoosh!

A milky white halo rose from the pocket watch, rapidly expanding into a large circle, enveloping Zheng Qing, Jiang Yu, and Master Bao Yangzi together within it.

Zheng Qing looked at Old Yao, finding him smiling and waving at him, the blue smoke forming a neat ’0’ character above his head.

The next second, the boy felt a sudden lightness under his feet, as if falling from a great height—this was entirely different from his previous experiences of time conversion, a more apt description would be that the dizziness today during time reversal was much more intense.

The office’s shadows flickered violently, as if a silent movie was being played in reverse, only the images were blurry and changed drastically, making it impossible to see what was happening.

Zheng Qing hadn’t even had a chance to blink before this blurriness quickly faded away.

The three of them stood once again in Old Yao’s office.

The redwood bookcase, the large desk, the soft chairs, the tea table, and the tree branches swaying gently outside the window all seemed unchanged, except for Old Yao behind the desk.

Old Yao’s posture was almost identical to when Zheng Qing ’fell,’ the only difference being that the smoke above his head formed a ’1’ character instead of a ’0.’

”Do not doubt, this is three and a half hours ago.” The headmaster of Jiuyou Academy spread his arms, smiling warmly as he welcomed the two young wizards: ”Welcome to experience one of the most wonderful magics in the world, time.”

Zheng Qing instinctively picked up his pocket watch, checking the time.

Time had indeed stepped back by three and a half hours.

Old Yao’s voice came to his ears, speaking to Master Bao Yangzi: ”...actually, I’ve long wanted to remind you, don’t make pointless struggles, follow the process... some things are not something you can prevent at will.”

He looked up, and saw the stern-faced elder wizard from the relevant department walking to the desk, blocking Old Yao from the two young wizards, his expression serious: ”I must remind you that under normal circumstances, any time conversion must occur in a ’relatively open’ and ’secretive’ environment... Ordinary wizards without protective measures face great harm in encountering such legendary-level magic, not to mention the timeline disruptions that might be caused by witnessing it. Your headmaster is an exception. The reason I chose here today to let you experience this process is because Professor Yao is a legendary wizard, capable enough to pull you both back from the time turbulence if something goes wrong.

In the remaining time, I will briefly introduce you to the basic principles of time conversion.”
