High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2411: Chapter 632: The Day Before School Starts

February 20, Saturday.

Overcast weather.

Yesterday’s rain continued into midnight, and only stopped in the early morning.

Early in the morning, Zheng Qing opened the window, and a chilly damp air mixed with the scent of soil and flowers hit his face, making him shiver involuntarily and tighten his robe.

As the drizzling spring raindrops fell to the ground, they were already in a semi-solid state. When the cold wind blew, it diffused into the air like mist, resembling dry powdered snow, moist and sparkling, like a low-budget version of diamond dust, draping the entire world in its translucent net.

Just after the New Year, the chill in the air had not completely dissipated. An ancient saying goes, ”Three cold days, four warm days,” meaning at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, if there are three consecutive cold days, there will be four warm days, and this phenomenon repeats for a period of time before spring truly arrives.

Considering tomorrow is the day students return to register, if tomorrow continues with this gloomy chill for these two days, then the first week of the semester should warm up—at least the first four days of next week should be warm.

This climatic arrangement is very considerate and friendly to the young wizards returning to school after the holiday.

After breakfast.

Zheng Qing didn’t supervise Poseidon read as usual with a small duster, nor did he squat beside the little garden watching Su Ya work.

He had more important things to do today.

A green parrot flew to Jiuyou Academy’s office building, informing the young warlock that Old Yao had come to the office this morning. This ”relationship” was something he acquired by long-term bribing those feathery green front desk birds with delicious bird food.

The mist hadn’t dissipated yet, and Zheng Qing came strolling to Old Yao’s office with his hands behind his back.

The Door Gods might have gone for breakfast and weren’t on the door panel.

Zheng Qing politely knocked on the door, entered, and greeted with a bow:

”Professor, Happy New Year! Good morning!”

Old Yao glanced at the young wizard and suddenly became alert, subconsciously checking the weather outside: ”It was originally quite good... Why are you suddenly in my office? Did you blow something up again? Or did you accidentally kill a student? I must remind you, the school’s tolerance for covering up any student’s actions is limited!”

While speaking, he quickly calculated with his fingers.

After a moment, the professor secretly breathed a sigh of relief: ”I knew it... after having tea this morning, the tea leaves’ residue was stable, today shouldn’t bring any trouble.”

Zheng Qing felt a bit hurt.

Perhaps noticing the slight disappointment on the boy’s face, the headmaster of Jiuyou Academy coughed discreetly, took out his pipe, stuffed it into his mouth, and mumbled a compliment: ”Hmm, right, I heard you took down a Big Wizard during the winter break? Not bad, not bad, you truly bring honor to the academy as a cost student.”

Zheng Qing barely gathered some spirit: ”I came today to ask about the matter of early graduation...”

”Oh, that matter.”

Old Yao looked enlightened, opened a drawer, flipped through it, pulled out several booklets, and handed them to the young cost student: ”This is ’Explanations on Several Issues Regarding Early Graduation of First University’, ’First University’s Student Status Management Rules’, and ’First University (2009-2010) Annual Teaching Plan’. It contains courses you can choose... Do you need me to prepare a timetable for you? After all, you need to complete five semesters’ worth of courses in one semester, time will indeed be a bit tight...”

”Not just a bit tight.”

Zheng Qing muttered about the professor’s choice of words, while pulling out the timetable he drafted yesterday from his pocket and handing it over: ”I’ve already read those booklets, but I’d like you to have a look at this timetable...”

When Zheng Qing saw Old Yao happily receiving the timetable crammed with courses, he suddenly wondered if this old man was trying to use countless courses to exhaust his free time to avoid causing any more trouble.

Considering Old Yao’s performance when he first entered, Zheng Qing thought his guess was highly possible.

”Is there a problem with this timetable?” Old Yao rubbed his pipe, shook the parchment, speaking with a hint of doubt: ”The course schedule looks good, not much room for adjustment, additionally, regarding time...”

He furrowed his brow, seemingly thinking of something.

Zheng Qing came to realization, recalling the discussion at Greenhill Mansion yesterday, quickly stepped forward: ”Indeed, there are two minor issues. One is regarding credit exemption... I noticed you opened an elective course, ’Death Philosophy’, worth two credits... I’d like to inquire if I could receive credit exemption here.”

”Do you know what this course is about?” The professor scrutinized the young cost student with interest.

”Supposedly it describes the world after death to enable students to independently and clearly understand the concept of death.” Zheng Qing made an effort to recall the course description he had read, finally whispering added: ”I believe I have sufficient understanding of the information this course conveys, so...”

He was hesitant about whether to detail his experiences in the Land of Void to Old Yao.

Behind the desk, Jiuyou Academy’s headmaster furrowed his brow, lowered his eyelids, his fingers swiftly tapping between knuckles, calculating the connection between the course and Zheng Qing, eventually, slightly relaxed his brow and looked up at the boy.

”Alright.”

The professor succinctly agreed to Zheng Qing’s slightly abrupt request, casually remarked: ”This elective worth two credits originally wasn’t expecting you to truly understand much about the concepts related to death. Compare that, your current understanding has surpassed most registered wizards... What’s the other matter?”

”The other matter?”

Zheng Qing didn’t expect the problem he mulled over for long faced little hindrance, stunned briefly before reacting, quickly pulled out an application form: ”The other matter concerns the ’bonus’ for early graduation... I heard First University has a ’Special Contribution Award’ for students who make significant contributions to the school... I mean, last year’s participation in the Battle of the Black Prison, does it count as a ’special contribution’?”

When saying the last sentence, the warlock’s face flushed slightly, speaking in a softer tone, obviously somewhat embarrassed.

”It counts, of course, it counts.”

Old Yao chuckled softly, without a hint of mockery: ”Thousands of Demon Alliance Army couldn’t achieve what you did effortlessly, such an extraordinary contribution, not noting it down would hardly warn your juniors, would it?”

Zheng Qing’s face instantly darkened.

Dong Dong!

The light knocking sound interrupted the awkward atmosphere inside.

Jiang Yu entered.

This morning, she went back to Zhongshan Mansion earlier, she mentioned something about needing to discuss with the family regarding the hunting party, resulting in a few minutes’ delay arriving at Old Yao’s office.
