High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2410: Chapter 631: New Class Schedule (Part 2)

It is known that early graduation requires two hundred basic credits.

It is also known that Zheng Qing, during his year and a half at First University, accumulated eighty basic credits. He can gain twenty bonus credits and can waive sixteen credits, meaning that if he wants to graduate early, he still needs to earn eighty-four more basic credits.

Eighty-four credits are equivalent to twenty-eight specialized courses’ credits for one semester.

Upon calculating this number, Zheng Qing immediately realized a very tricky issue—he has to find a way to attend twenty-eight class sessions a week, while normally, the school only schedules ten class sessions per student each week.

Monday to Friday, one class in the morning, three hours; one class in the afternoon, three hours.

”I’m two courses more than you, this semester I need to take thirty courses.”

Jiang Yu looked at the data she had organized, anxiously tapping her fingers on the desk: ”Following the method of those predecessors who chose to graduate early, adding one class at night, and six more classes by not resting on weekends, only allows for eleven more classes...”

”Ten plus eleven, only twenty-one.”

Zheng Qing quickly and clearly calculated, without needing to count on his fingers. He couldn’t help but take a small gasp: ”...I don’t get a break all week, three classes per day morning, afternoon, and night, only to take twenty-one courses! What about the remaining seven courses? How did other people in school manage to graduate early!”

Many names flashed through his mind—from Doctor Du Zemu to Sister Korma, to Linda Barnes, the deputy editor of the campus newspaper—especially this journalist lady, with whom Zheng Qing did not have many interactions, but he was very sure Miss Barnes was not a diligent student attending classes seven days a week.

”Normally, those planning for early graduation start taking extra courses with a plan in freshmen year, not suddenly decide to graduate early in the second semester of sophomore year, and also demand graduating by sophomore year... pressuring all coursework into one semester.” Jiang Yu glanced at the young public cost student with resentment, correcting his misunderstanding.

Zheng Qing opened his mouth but found no excuse.

He scratched his head apologetically, looking embarrassed.

”I didn’t originally plan to... but situations changed... Old Yao is the dean, he always has methods.” The warlock muttered, holding his feather pen, scribbling randomly on the paper, murmuring softly but without much confidence.

”He might have methods, but you can’t hope for special handling in official matters.” The Upper House Member from the Moon Council reminded the young public cost student: ”Especially since both your statuses are rather sensitive right now, if the journalists from ’Beta Town Post’ catch any handle on this, you might have to go to Danghag to answer the judges’ inquiries.”

Zheng Qing dared to swear on three fingers that before the witch mentioned it, he never considered any special operations violating the Wizard’s Codex.

Even after the witch said it, he still hadn’t reacted.

”Isn’t it just a matter of taking a few more courses? How does this relate to Danghag?” The warlock looked puzzled.

Su Shijun raised an eyebrow, tactfully avoiding the issue: ”It’s good you’re not overthinking... Anyway, the 3S curse has always been one of the biggest challenges at Alpha Academy. To maximize ’Study’ time, you must minimize ’Social’ and ’Sleep’ time, without exceptions.”

The so-called 3S curse refers to how college students often struggle to balance Study, Social, and Sleep—typically only able to focus on two. This concept originally circulated at Alpha Academy, but as First University increasingly emphasizes practical evaluations, the curse has gradually echoed through the other three academies.

Zheng Qing wasn’t hearing about this concept for the first time.

”Ah, Sister Korma talked to me about this 3S curse,” Zheng Qing eagerly responded, but immediately remembered Korma mentioning the concept when they danced at the moonlit dance, realizing it might be inappropriate in front of two witches skilled in divination. He hastily ended the topic: ”One needs to worry about the 3S dilemma when wanting to maintain life balance. Given our circumstances, we don’t need to consider the balance at all, right, haha, haha.”

He looked at Jiang Yu, chuckling awkwardly.

Jiang Yu didn’t laugh.

”Do you think we could possibly take classes with Dylan?” She hesitated, presenting a seemingly reasonable solution: ”Werewolves and vampires... uh, sorry, I mean some Moon Clans choose to attend classes late at night, isn’t that right? We can take a class from ten at night to one in the early morning. Then the number of lessons a day becomes four, increasing our weekly sessions by...”

”Aren’t you sleeping anymore!” Zheng Qing interrupted the witch’s calculation.

”I’ve thought it through, it’s not a big deal.”

Jiang Yu calmly pushed the parchment in front of Zheng Qing: ”Like the old saying goes, time is like water in a sponge, squeeze a little and it’ll be there. According to our current schedule, adjusting habits slightly, sleeping six to seven hours a day isn’t difficult... Lunch and afternoon breaks can be used for completing homework... Occasionally with some energy potions, we could even spare time for a few hunting competitions.”

Zheng Qing stared at the schedule on the parchment, which was precise down to the minute, and felt his scalp tingling.

”Crazy...no, no.” He shook his head, rejecting the witch’s plan: ”Even according to your idea, at most you can attend twenty-eight classes a week...I can manage, but what about you? You need at least thirty classes!”

”Not every class has the professor taking attendance.”

The witch pointed with her fingertip to another corner of the parchment: ”I think I can choose some more lenient elective courses, like Hunting Dance, Classic Hunting Games Analysis, Quick Course in Noble Etiquette, Fashion Coordination, Tarot Card Analysis, etc. I can get high marks in these courses with my eyes closed...and I have adequate knowledge in Ningfu Language, Phoenix Language, Astrology, Ancient Rune Texts, Herbology, Mysticism, Kyle Sutra, Enock Magic, Voodoo Magic, and so on... These subjects might be hard to get credit exemptions, but if I’m just looking to pile up enough credits to graduate, getting a pass isn’t difficult.”

Zheng Qing stared blankly at the witch, mouth slightly open and closing, yet unable to utter a single word, like a fish about to die in a dried-up pond.

No, more like crying to death.

Indeed, in a certain sense, for students like Jiang Yu, who come from wizarding families, graduating from the First University isn’t hard—registered wizards may be synonymous with elite for children from ordinary wizard families, but for the heirs of major families, it is a necessary quality—for them, the First University is not just a place of learning.

Pop!

The rolled-up parchment lightly knocked on the warlock’s head, waking him from his state of being in a daze.

”Instead of worrying about others not getting enough sleep, why not worry about yourself?”

Su Shijun waved the parchment roll, not hiding the sarcasm in her tone at all: ”You don’t need to worry about Student Jiang Yu’s schedule, you can decide on the course arrangements after talking to Old Yao tomorrow... The only thing that’s not settled yet is which elective courses you’re planning to take? Decide what classes you’re going to take before considering how to arrange the class hours!”

”Which courses to pick...”

Zheng Qing took a deep breath, struggling to reign in his chaotic thoughts, and after a while, he pointed to the list of course names he’d already listed, responding with a dry voice: ”Just these...aren’t you already aware?”

Unlike Jiang Yu’s ’hodgepodge’ of broad knowledge, Zheng Qing’s schedule was charging straight down the path of ’specialization,’ as the courses he chose were all related to Talisman Studies—from classical ritual studies and altar regulation studies related to drawing symbols, ceremonial studies, Ancient Magic Arts Study; to skills related to drawing symbols like Talisman Foot Ciphertext, methods of Complex Text, Basic Forms of Forms and Tables, Imperial Decree Studies, Inviting gods and impeaching ghosts, Laws and regulations nine Chapters; to various talisman categories like Yin Fu Studies, Ink Talisman Studies, Dan Shu Studies, Three Mountain Talisman Paper (symbol diagrams and talisman seals), Spiritual Treasure Sutra and Cloud Scrolls, Spirit charms and treasure charms, Symbol Science—a total of seventeen specialized courses worth three credits, practically sweeping through all the advanced courses related to talismans.

”But that’s still not enough,” Su Shijun frowned and pointed at a few numbers on the parchment: ”You need twenty-eight three-credit courses, and now you’ve only found seventeen...”

Zheng Qing finally found a bit of intellectual superiority.

”I have ten more courses next semester.” He reminded the Big Fox in a very small, yet very clear voice: ”The normally scheduled ten courses...like Magic Studies, Potion Making, Divination, those classes...and ten others...”

Jiang Yu had her eyelids lowered, seeming to be seriously analyzing her schedule for more conflicts and adjustments.

Su Shijun’s frown slowly relaxed.

”Oh, I almost forgot.” She nodded slightly, very naturally reminding: ”Then you’re short one more. Have you thought about what to choose?”

”Second-Order Battle Array Theory or Magic Universe Study? I feel like both should be pretty good.” Zheng Qing thought about the summoning spell attached to his Merlin Gold Medal and felt it’s necessary to enhance his understanding of related magic knowledge.

”Hmm, indeed.”

The witch appeared calm, as if forgetting the slight awkwardness from a few seconds ago: ”You might also consider courses related to Transformation, Hunting Team Training, or Fu Dan Production Theory, they shouldn’t be too difficult for you... huh? I see a Grass Spirit sneaking in through the fence, help us drive it away!”

Before the words were fully spoken, the wide window of the study flew open with a swoosh, and four fluffy large tails emerged from behind the witch, transforming into a gigantic ’paw’ that dropped from the ceiling, grabbing the puzzled warlock and tossing him out the window.

Bang!

The window closed immediately.

The cold raindrops slapped randomly against the boy’s cheek. Zheng Qing knew he was thrown out not because of that damn Grass Spirit.
