High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2439: Chapter 660: Talk Things Out Calmly

Perhaps it was because Jiang Hua’s attitude was too serious when he said those words.

Perhaps the bulging muscles of the Blue robe reminded Zheng Qing of some bad memories.

Or perhaps the news revealed in the letter he glimpsed was just too appalling.

In any case, Zheng Qing remained invisible until lunchtime. He even went through toxicology tests on the buns and thin porridge he bought from the cafeteria without tiring.

The young cost student seemed to return to the days around last year’s Halloween, seeing everyone with flickering eyes and malicious intentions, as if aiming to harm him.

Paranoia is an illness.

And it is incurable.

Only time can slightly alleviate these symptoms.

When Xin Fat Man and Xiao Xiao returned to the dormitory, Zheng Qing was on the balcony feeding some passing sparrows. The invisibility talisman would still last a few more minutes, so he was too lazy to take it off. Coincidentally, he overheard some gossip he had missed.

”...Though Liu Fei Fei is unwilling to talk, someone in the editorial department has confirmed with people from the North District that Nicholas really intends to repeat a grade and restart freshman year... hic!”

Xin Fat Man squeezed into the dormitory, holding his belly and burping lazily: ”Those guys from the North District, even though they have casting abilities now, old habits die hard. You only need a few silver dimes to get them talking endlessly, much easier to deal with than the students here!”

Apparently, his words carried a specific implication.

”You are using the wrong method.”

Xiao Xiao walked into the dormitory behind the Fat Wizard: ”Li Meng isn’t short of money; if you want to purchase news about Greenhill Mansion from her using a few silver dimes, not being bombarded by explosive charms shows Jiang Yu’s good discipline. Students being naive doesn’t mean they’re stupid, just as the North District people being selfish doesn’t mean they have no boundaries.”

Xin Fat Man sat heavily on his bed, causing it to groan contentedly.

”I still don’t understand why Nicholas wants to start freshman year with new students.”

The Fat Wizard picked up Tuan Tuan from his pillow and started grooming it while yawning widely and returning to the topic: ”...starting from preparatory study! He’s already been at First University for three, no, nearly four years! Longer than most students at the school, why does he need preparatory study!”

”Once you think from a different perspective, it’s easy to understand.”

Xiao Xiao sat properly at the desk, reviewing his notes with a mild tone: ”This preparatory study by Nicholas is not for himself... it’s for the other Northern District Wizards. They need a backbone or a psychological anchor as they enter the school, and he’s the best choice. As for why he’s starting freshman year again, the key issue is Edge Academy doesn’t have a sophomore class yet, its students were just recruited this year...”

”Is Carmen also leaving?”

The Fat Wizard abruptly interrupted the doctor’s analysis, staring blankly at the balcony, deep in thought: ”According to what we know about Edge Academy’s admission principles, even Gypsy exchange students can join Edge Academy and get formal student status, only an idiot wouldn’t go... Carmen entering Edge Academy might mean Iseni has a chance to enter First University too? I think it’s fully capable of entering Starry Sky Academy...”

”Carmen?”

Xiao Xiao subtly shook his head: ”I looked at her final grades, they’re not outstanding, but they’re certainly within the pass range. If she continues in a step-by-step manner, she could learn more about magic... But I’m not sure how she’ll choose...”

At this point, the doctor suddenly let out a few cold laughs.

”What do you mean?” The Fat Wizard glanced at him.

”I’m thinking about the troubles of our dear captain.” The diviner from the Absolution Hunting Team tugged at his mouth: ”though I don’t know where Elena has gone, she’s surely still alive, otherwise he wouldn’t be talking so carefree about new love... If one day Elena suddenly returns to school...”

”No wonder!” The Fat Wizard clapped heavily with a face of realization: ”No wonder Mr. Zha wants to graduate early! The current four-way feud has already made him burnt out; if his old flame returns... Wow... Four Emperor Showdown?”

Meow!

Tuan Tuan, startled by the clap, let out an angry yell, with the fur on its neck standing on end, forcing the Fat Wizard to use both hands to groom it again.

”If Elena returns, it will be even more interesting to restart freshman year.” Doctor Xiao pushed his glasses, a gleam passing behind the lenses: ”Ha, the stories that must be told between the youngest teaching assistant and the Edge Witch...”

”Do you just love this kind of thing?” Xin Fat Man stared at him with a bizarre expression.

Zheng Qing finally couldn’t listen any longer.

Or rather, the invisibility talisman he was wearing was finally about to lose its effect.

He sniffed a bit, cleared his throat, tore off the talisman paper now rendered ineffective, crumpled it into a ball and stuffed it in his pocket, then slowly walked into the room.

Xin Fat Man looked as if he had seen a ghost.

”When did you come back?” he shrieked.

”It’s extremely impolite to eavesdrop on others’ conversations, extremely, extremely impolite.” Xiao Xiao calmly closed his notebook and quietly pulled out his Bamboo Slip Law Book.

”I came back a few minutes earlier than you... and I wasn’t eavesdropping. It’s just that the invisibility talisman I was wearing hadn’t lost its effect yet.” Zheng Qing explained very seriously while taking out his Charm Gun to check if the magazine contained any Curse bullets.

The Fat Wizard swiftly raised his hands.

”Let’s talk nicely!” He widened his eyes, offering no excuses, and looked sincere: ”It’s just a loose tongue on my part! An old habit! I’ll seal it later!”

Click.

Zheng Qing turned the magazine and aimed vaguely at the fat man.

”What does ’four-way feud’ mean?” He first wanted to correct everyone’s misunderstanding.

The Fat Wizard spoke rapidly and without stuttering: ”At the Under the Moon Ball during Christmas, didn’t you dance with three ladies... I swear I didn’t invent this term!”

Zheng Qing’s mouth twitched involuntarily. He wished to explain but sensed it would be impossible to clarify, or rather, no one would listen even if he explained. For a moment, he felt somewhat disheartened and was even too lazy to inquire who coined the odd phrase.

Then he turned to look at Xiao Xiao.

Doctor Xiao, holding a stack of Amulets, laid them out like playing cards on the table, speaking earnestly: ”You have the right to shoot, but I must remind you that if you want to graduate peacefully ahead of time, it’s best not to make any trouble this semester... Don’t worry, I won’t casually hand over evidence of you threatening us to the school.”

As he spoke, he smartly stowed away the small Memory Flower at the corner of the table.

Then he grinned at Zheng Qing, beaming.
