COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

Hikigaya-kun’s left hand slid down from the table and pulled Ichinose’s sleeve.

???

Ichinose obviously noticed what Hachiman did and looked over with some confusion.

Then noticed that his movements seemed to make her put her hands under the table.

Although she didn’t quite understand, Ichinose still put her left hand down.

Hikigaya-kun immediately grabbed her hand, girl felt a sense of security.

’Yes....Even though I lied to my mother and sister, I still have this future, right?’ Her face relaxed a lot.

Hikigaya-kun heaved a sigh of relief when he noticed that Ichinose’s condition seemed to have eased.

Because that’s truth.

’Although it is partly a lie, we can’t say it is a complete lie now, right?’ Hikigaya-kun was able to maintain his original intention.

Better to say.

Miss Ichinose is already uneasy enough right now. If he panics, according to her mother’s personality, she will return the money even if it has been spent.

That’s scary.

”Speaking of which, Hikigaya-kun, the money you brought back last year—” Ichinose’s mother looked at Hikigaya-kun carefully and then began to ask questions.

Boy was prepared for this.

”I earned it myself. So it doesn’t take up the family share, and I can use it as I please.”

”Earn it yourself?” Her mother frowned slightly.

Um....

Normal people should understand it this way, because how can you earn 5 million when you are just an ordinary high school student?

Or is your family actually rich? Is this 5 million actually your family’s money or pocket money given to you?

But if the family background is too different, it may feel like hugging other people’s thighs from different world.

But for honest people, they will also worry about becoming a burden to the other party.

And the difference in family backgrounds will lead to differences in interests and cognition, which can easily separate them.

Obviously, Ichinose family, who would repay the debts of their absconded husband, are honest people.

”Yes. I can’t say for sure, but I earned it after entering this school. And I think this money is valuable. My relatives also entered the school today. She also approved it. But she’s busy now and didn’t come.”

Is that so? Ichinose’s mother nodded slightly.

If other party’s parents also came today and approved of the marriage, then she would be a bad person if she continued to hinder it.

”I think highly of Ichinose. Although we are in a relationship, I hope to marry her and fulfill my own ambition. My ideal is to be a househusband.”

”.....” Kokonae looked at two people with big eyes quietly, ’is it something you can do? Can you say directly to my mother like this....? How brave!’

’That means you don’t want to work! If that happens, my daughter will have a hard time.....’ Haruko Ichinose also began to understand why other party would give the betrothal gift so directly in advance.

Then, she looked at her daughter with a face that didn’t show anything at all.

Ichinose felt pressured instantly and she cried loudly inside her heart!

After all, this is the child’s future.

Although she can give experience as someone who has done it, she cannot make decisions for the other party.

Therefore, pressure was immediately placed on Ichinose Honami.

”Eto...”

”Ahahaha…”

”Actually, I have already promised Hikigaya-kun, but it was not forced, nor did I succumb to reality.” Honami felt that she could not be ambiguous here, so became serious.

Or rather, that’s what she had always thought.

Hikigaya-kun saved her from falling into autism and even wanting to drop out of school.

Gave her light again.

And she doesn’t hate other person. It’s better to say that she has become dependent on him. If she really breaks up... or is not chosen, the right thing to do is to wish that he deserves better than herself.

But it turns out... Ichinose is a little reluctant to accept defeat.

Therefore, her expression became firm. No one knows a girl better than her mother.

She looked at her daughter’s expression and immediately understood her attitude.

She probably didn’t want to let go.

Her mother has also witnessed this.

The family’s poverty has always been a source of worry for the Ichinose family.

Moreover, Honami did something wrong in the second semester of 3rd year of junior high school.

But she knew that she couldn’t blame Honami for everything.

Moreover, it also brought serious psychological impact to Honami.

So, mother’s eyes fell on the two children’s hands placed under table.

Originally, it seemed that Hikigaya-kun wanted to hold her daughter’s hand, but now situation was reversed and it was the daughter who was holding Hikigaya-kun.

This clearly shows they have a very good relationship.

It doesn’t seem like anyone forced anyone.

’Eh....I can’t question or be paranoid about everything just because my own marriage is unhappy. These two children are almost adults, so it’s good for them to have their own ideas.’

While Haruko was being organised inside her thoughts, her sweet eater, Ichinose, the food lover, ”Actually, Hikigaya-kun said that since you can enter the school now, you can take out some more cash. He’s ready.”

Hikigaya-kun nodded with a cool face.

”No, no.” But Ichinose’s mother waved her hand quickly, ”I was already embarrassed to accept Hikigaya-kun’s betrothal money before. So, I can’t take it anymore.”

But this means that it’s not that she doesn’t want to accept it, but feels she shouldn’t accept it, so doesn’t question the relationship between the two.

Ichinose felt a little relieved, but only then did she realize that Hikigaya-kun was looking at the steak on the table with a troubled look on his face.

What’s wrong with steak?

Oh no....

Ichinose then realized that she had been holding other person’s hand, so Hikigaya-kun couldn’t hold fork at all.

So, quickly let go of his hand with a slightly red face.

At this time, Kokonae seemed to finally break the restraint, ”I’m sorry, sister.....”

She said meekly.

This sorry was sudden, but four people at the table knew what she was talking about.

It was because of her birthday two years ago.

She wanted a hairpin that looked like a former celebrity, and then she cried.

In the end, Ichinose did something she shouldn’t do - steal.

Girl stole a hairpin from a convenience store and gave it to her.

She didn’t know at the time that it was stolen.

By the time Kokonae found out, her sister had already shut herself off.

She finally realized how excessive and ignorant her demands were.

”It’s okay....” Ichinose smiled sweetly.

She liked her sister very much, and also knew that girl was in a bad mood and wanted the hairpin because she had always been very well behaved, restrained herself, and saved money, her mother had promised to buy her this gift.

As a result, her mother fell ill at that time, and the gift she had been looking forward to was gone, so just couldn’t control her emotions.

Ichinose understands.

But mother looked at Hachiman, as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

Hikigaya-kun immediately said to ease the nerves, as a human observer you can’t escape the fluctuations, very calm, ”I already know about this matter. What she did at that time was definitely wrong, but I will not lower my opinion of Ichinose because of this. I don’t think she was a bad kid, both accept her in the past and now.”

Already know. Haruko also breathed a sigh of relief.

She had forced her daughter to return the stolen hairpin and even made her kneel down to the clerk, but she had no choice but to do so.

If she had a criminal record because of such a thing, Ichinose would be ruined.

But she also reflected on herself and realized that she had caused a great psychological trauma to her child.

Even punished herself by making her daughter stay indoors for half a year.

Look now, daughter has come out, and feels very mature.

Perhaps, Hikigaya-kun is indeed a good match for her daughter.

Although he wants to be a househusband, if her daughter is willing to work, then there is nothing she can do to stop her.

After finishing her meal, mother took her daughter to another area.

It seemed that she was preparing to visit a school, hoping that her younger daughter could study harder and get admitted.

Of course, Hikigaya-kun revealed that his family was just an ordinary working-class family.

The cash obtained was indeed earned from this school.

It’s a bit touching.

Not to mention ability to make money, the fact that tuition and living expenses are waived is a real surprise for ordinary or poor families.

Obviously, Haruko didn’t know this school actually has a selection system, and that one can’t get in just because one wants to.

But it’s always good to have an ambition.

In short.

This time scene of meeting the girl’s parents barely ended.

”Hikigaya-kun doesn’t seem nervous at all.” Ichinose’s tense spirit seemed to relax a little after her mother and sister left.

But she felt aggrieved, mentally harmed.

Then noticed Hachiman’s appearance and easily adjusted his collar.

”Aren’t you nervous? Actually, I am very nervous. Because this is the first time I meet your parents.”

Meet the parents.

”So...” Talking about such a big thing, Ichinose seemed a little embarrassed, because she wanted to ask some details, ”Didn’t Hikigaya-kun just say that his relatives also came to the school?”

”Yeah, but not my parents. Just my sister.”

Is it your sister?

”And she’s probably fooling around with Kushida now.”

”…..” Ichinose felt like she needed to stop, and take a deep breath to calm her nerves for eight or possibly ninth time today.

She then realized that Hikigaya-kun was not 100% sure to marry her upon graduation.

Before her, Kushida had also signed the same agreement with her.

Earlier on the ship, Hikigaya-kun bought her a place to graduate from Class A.

Although this may be performance of choosing her.

There is still a year and a half left before graduation, and it is uncertain whether there will be any changes in the end.

And it is generally acknowledged that Hikigaya-kun has obtained a large number of points.

That is to say.

It is unclear whether Hikigaya-kun only bought a promotion spot for her or also bought a spot for Kushida-chan.

Normally, in Hikigaya-kun’s room, you’ll find traces of Kushida’s presence.

And now, your sister goes directly to hang out with Kushida-chan.

Almost confirmed.

It seems that girl also got the spot to be promoted to Class A.

Maybe Ichinose misunderstood. It means Hikigaya-kun hasn’t chosen her yet and is still wavering.

But she was just a latecomer and couldn’t do anything. Eh....Ichinose’s mood was a little complicated for a while.
