COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

“Then special examination for this month will begin.” Chabashira, homeroom teacher, stood at the podium.

“First of all, congratulations on returning to Class B after uninhabited island exam.”

“But exam rules this time are just as you can see. If everyone agrees, school will implement it based on content of the question. So your choice becomes very important.”

Then first question appeared.

Task 1- Choose which class you will compete against in final exam held in the first semester of third grade.

Option Class A (+100 points) Class C (+50 points) Class D (+0 points)

Then prompts below.

Note: 1 Even if class rank changes, this choice will take priority.

Note: The numbers in 2 () are additional class evaluation points that can be obtained when winning battle.

It’s not a very difficult question. The overall strength of Horikita’s class is not very high, so it would be safer to choose Ryuen, but you won’t get any extra evaluation score bonus.

Therefore, safer option is to choose Ichinose.

There is no absolutely top student in her class. Although test questions cannot be confirmed yet, there is still a chance of winning if they really go.

Therefore, it is a good idea to choose Ichinose and pick up 50 points.

If it were in the past, as soon as this kind of topic came out, someone would make a call.

Then discussion process will last for 10 minutes. Then everyone will unanimously choose Ichinose’s class.

“The time for selection is over. Results of first round of voting are announced. Option A class has 9 votes, Option C class has 13 votes, and Option D class has 16 votes.”

“Since there is a disagreement among the audience, we will enter a 10-minute discussion process.”

Chabashira-sensei was businesslike.

“…..” Koenji. ’Although it has entered discussion stage. The voting results are really hard to describe. Because it’s like there’s no one organizing it, you know. So this is a vote based on your own preferences? Not prepared for the exam at all?’

Oh no, they were still prepared. In the worst-case scenario, would choose Koenji to drop out of school.

He, the victim, originally thought class was hopeless and he would leave when necessary, but now it seems that time for leaving will be brought forward again.

After losing Hikigaya, the former coordinator, students in Suzune’s class are now divided into a group centered around Hirata and based on personality charm, a group consisting of Suzune and Kushida, a group of girls who seem to be playing with hotties, and... a group of tutoring of Yukimura, who is a top student and wants to work hard.

Divided into several small groups and forces.

So it was first question, and it took more than 30 minutes to finish it.

Choose...Class D.

Decided to fight against Ryuen’s class because they looked weakest.

’What a stereotype. Since he is really the weakest, will Hikigaya-boy go to Dragon-boy’s class?’ But these have nothing to do with Koenji’s future.

This class cannot be lifted and he doesn’t want to save it.

The second question is to choose where to go for school trip.

There are Kyoto, Hokkaido and Okinawa.

School trip. Looks very much like a high school student.

Koenji thought this question was unimportant, but still took 40 minutes because many students had their own places they wanted to go.

So they started arguing.

Want to convince other party.

’This kind of school trip is a decision made by the grade, so it doesn’t matter how you perform in your class, because you may not be selected, or probability of being selected is the highest. Four classes choosing same area is less than 10%. Once different choices appear, school will make the arrangements again. Then for this kind of question, you should randomly choose a question that saves time.’

No.

It took 40 minutes. Duration of this exam is 3 hours or 180 minutes.

In other words, more than 80 minutes were spent on two unimportant questions.

Topic 3 came out soon.

The living expenses distributed every month according to class evaluation scores will become zero, but three students will be randomly selected from class to be given protection points.

Or living expenses can be halved, but one student can be given protection point.

If you do not want to choose any of the above options, living expenses of those who rank in bottom five in next written test will be reduced to zero.

“….”

When question of income came out, Koenji took more than a second looking. ’Logically speaking, this is question that needs to be thought about and weighed. Considering cost-effectiveness of this class, option 1 is the most profitable.’

“Then announce first round of voting.”

“Seven votes chose to clear the living expenses of entire class for half a year and provide protection for three students to drop out, four votes chose to charge half of living expenses of the entire class and designate one student to drop out, and 27 votes chose to give five students with lowest written test scores no living expenses for half a year.”

In first round, votes were relatively concentrated, but still some differences.

“Then announce results of second round of voting.”

“38 students chose bottom five in written test will not have living expenses for half a year.”

It only took 20 minutes to finish.

The reason is...costs money.

If we only talk about option 2, students in class do not think that anyone has value of everyone paying points to buy a spot.

Therefore, few choose option 2.

’Although I am somewhat interested in option one, if Hikigaya-boy was still in this class, perhaps option one would be for entire class to miss out on half a year’s living expenses, and then randomly get three places exempted from expulsion.....The school requires that living expenses collected be fluid. However, probability this class can continue to obtain high evaluation scores in half a year is very low. But it can be confirmed that chances of being deducted points will be higher. It is very valuable to go without living expenses for half a month in exchange for 3 dropout places. Very cost-effective. Moreover, students in this class are very greedy. Since it is random, maybe prize will fall on their heads. Isn’t that a win? Then, just like last year’s preferential treatment exam, a possibility of convincing them. But mainstream view now is to reject such option.’

“We have been paying off debts to our classmate Koenji for the past two months, haven’t we?” A bot talked with emotions full of pain trying to fool people, even though he didn’t have a good tone because of his coding, many others felt quite moved.

“How can we bear it if we don’t have living expenses for next six months?! Answer me!”

The students in this class only suffered during first 25 days of month since they entered school.

At that time, Hikigaya-kun saw through the essence and rules of this school, so he forcibly tied everyone on the boat.

In order to not be without living expenses, whole class had to maintain the norms of behavior and maintain class rating score for first month, so that they could compete for Class A.

Competing for Class A was Hikigaya’s goal, while these students only wanted to have living expenses in the future.

They attach great importance to points.

How is it possible to leave them without living expenses for half a year for sake of the class and group?

’If I were given the title of being expelled from school, I would still be able to accept it. But what if it doesn’t fall on my head? So I don’t want to gamble!’ This guy with no emotional tone has such perverted ideas.

Of course, there are some knowledgeable humans among.

“There are a lot of special exams in this school related to dropping out. I think option 2 is worth considering. Because our class’s current class evaluation score is as high as over 1,300 points, deducting half of it to choose a student to receive title of expulsion protection should be a profit. Because we only need to do this for half a year.”

“So, Yukimura-kun, do you think you deserve such a title? Or who should I buy it for?” But at this time, Karuizawa-san spoke up breaking people’s hearts!

“This……” Yukimura actually didn’t know either.

Option 1 requires everyone to go without living expenses for half a year, which is very stressful, but it seems cost-effective as it allows you to get 3 dropout places. However, you need to worry about the fact that these 3 places are random.

So maybe they all fall into group of poor students.

Giving poor students opportunity to not drop out of school doesn’t seem to make much sense.

And he is one with good academic ability.

If Yukimura could get a safe title without being expelled from school, he certainly wanted it.

But he also knew that if he proposed to choose himself, would definitely not get the approval of entire class.

And if we say that before, Hikigaya-kun was still here, then it can be said that choosing him could also attract most of votes to fight against other leaders.

But now. Hikigaya-kun leaves.

Then it must b.....

’How about choosing Koenji?’ Yukimura thought so, but he didn’t say it out loud.

Because Koenji asked these mortals to give him everyone’s living expenses in past two months.

Then contribution he brings to class can be offset.

Although Koenji only wants 8 million, his contribution of 225 points in class evaluation score can earn him about 20 million by time of graduation.

So what he did was already giving everyone a bargain.

But Yukimura felt this seemed to be a bad sign. In particular, when he was still on the ship some time ago, someone saw Koenji receiving a message from the school.

It seemed they were congratulating him on his successful promotion to class he wanted.

That is to say. Mr. Koenji wants to transfer to another class.

’So if we give him a quota of Protection from expulsion penalty and he leaves again, wouldn’t that be a loss for us?’ That’s how Yukimura-kun finally sat down.

But Koenji was somewhat puzzled because the Horikita girl, who used to follow Hikigaya-boy and do supporting work, did not move at all today.

It didn’t even seem like she participated much in this question or showed her own ideas.

As for the reason, Koenji probably understand it.

’Because title of expulsion protection is used to offset some mandatory garbage removal exams. It’s considered a sacrifice. And in this class...actually there is really no need to specifically get Protection Quota. If you need sacrifices, there are quite a few here.’

Thinking of this, Koenji leaned back on his chair. He feels extremely beautiful today.
