COTE: A Man On A Mission || Love is War?

“Then, choose second option!” Ryuen stood up and declared.

Now Horikita’s class won easily and took the place of B.

So original 10 minutes were for students to present their opinions to each other, and even try to convince others of different opinions, but now Ryuen only has one answer left.

All students just quietly waited for the long 10-minute discussion time to end.

Sakagami-sensei looked at his watch.

“Now we begin second round of voting for question 1.”

All students picked up their tablets.

“Since everyone has voted, results will be announced next.”

The second voting results: Class A 0 votes, Class B 39 votes, Class C 0 votes.

No one dared to disobey.

“All approved. Let’s move on to next question.”

Quickly appeared on display screen.

Topic 2-A school trip is scheduled for early September. Please choose the destination you wish to visit.

Options Hokkaido Kyoto Okinawa

“What is this—!” People can be heard making such excited noises.

I’m taking an exam now, but it really makes people unable to help but make a sound.

What about stressful questions that might even lead to expulsion?

So, is this to deliver welfare?

Because according to rules of exam, questions that are passed unanimously by whole audience will be honored.

That is to say.

If all four classes choose same travel destination, then we can really go there in September?

There is actually such a good thing!

“This vote is similar to previous one. Decision will not be made based on just one vote from our class. We will also make a decision based on situations of other three classes.”

But students couldn’t help but vote.

Results of first vote: Hokkaido 20 votes, Kyoto 19 votes, Okinawa 0 votes

Although votes are very concentrated and evenly distributed.

While waiting for results to come out, many students have already looked at Hachiman, Ryuen and Hiyori.

You should have your own ideas.

This question looks like it’s meant to be played!

So can we decide based on our own preferences?

“Since there is no consensus among the audience, we will have a halftime break.”

It’s actually a bit of a relief.

Because results of the first round of voting for two consecutive questions were 20 votes for first option and 19 votes for second option.

This was the plan decided by Hikigaya, Ryuen and the others.

Whatever the topic, try to get to intermission first and then start discussion.

And if it was Ryuen, it would probably be more radical.

So this class can achieve this, it seems that Hikigaya-kun is a relatively calm person.

As homeroom teacher, Sakagami digitally updates his evaluation of Hachiman in brain.

“Ryuen-san, I think it would be nice to go to Kyoto!”

“Me too! I’ve been to Hokkaido on a school trip in junior high school, but I haven’t been to Kyoto!”

Many boys and girls immediately suggested to Ryuen.

“Hikigaya, what do you think?” But Ryuen put the blame on someone else as if to not face any ridicule.

“Me?” Even Hachiman paused a bit before answering, “There are rumours of Nine-tailed fox who can turn into a human. So, If it’s Kyoto...”

He stretched out his voice, and then found that expressions of several students were shaken.

They obviously wanted to go to Kyoto, but some were nervous. Obviously, they did not want to go to Kyoto.

Would be a really troublesome job.

Because it’s impossible to please everyone.

“But, I think I should let Shiina-san make this choice. I’m just a newcomer to this class, and not familiar with everyone’s interests, so let Shiina-san, who is familiar with everyone, decide. I will gladly accept her answer.”

“.....” Hiyori.

She thinks Hikigaya-kyn is really mean. Because students wanted to go to all three places, if she designated one of them based on her own preference, it would definitely make those who wanted to go to other two places unhappy.

’This is an offensive job. Hikigaya-kun, you are careful about your reputation, but what about me Shiina-san?’

“• •” So Hiyori looked at Kaneda.

“….” Who received the message from Shiina.

“Then highest bidder wins.” At this time, Kaneda had enough, “Now market is open. Everyone can bet points on the 3 travel destinations. Eventually, everyone will bet on destination with most bets. Then, all points bet on selected place will be confiscated as class fees.”

“Hey, Kaneda, you can’t play it like this! We finally have some points in hand, and you actually want to squeeze them back!”

A student’s voice took over.

“I’m just trying to lighten the mood, Momotaro.”

In fact, he really had an idea. Kaneda wanted to go to Hokkaido, so he bet 100,000 points himself.

Ordinary classmates don’t have many points, so he has a good chance of winning if he directly bets 100,000.

It was obvious that atmosphere in Ryuen’s class was very relaxed.

“There are still 5 minutes left for discussion.” Tyrant Ryuen finally decided to be a villain, “Now you have 2 minutes to think and then vote. There is only one chance. The area with most votes will become our voting plan on the tablet.”

Finally, using this method, everyone decided on destination for school trip - Kyoto.

Because there are four classes participating in selection process, you don’t know whether yours will be selected in the end.

“Then we have finished these two questions.” Mr. Sakagami happily continued, fulfilling his duties as a teacher, “Next, we will move on to 3rd question.”

The students’ expressions were also much more relaxed than when they first started, because people seemed to have easily solved two consecutive questions.

Topic 3 -

Living expenses distributed every month according to class evaluation scores will become zero, but 3 students will be randomly selected from the class to be given protection title quota from expulsion.

Or the living expenses can be halved, but one student can be given protection title quota from expulsion.

If you do not want to choose any of the above options, living expenses of those who rank in bottom five in next written test will be reduced to zero.

Note: 1 Regardless of which option you choose, period of confiscation of living expenses will last for six months.

“…”

As soon as this question came out, everyone fell silent.

Because if you just thought two test questions were finished quickly and easily.

But now. Even the dumbest students could sense that exam was becoming more difficult.

It has indeed improved.

It has become that no matter what the situation is, living expenses will be confiscated.

Five students with worst written test scores can be confiscated for half a year, or half of living expenses for half a year for entire class can be confiscated, or all of living expenses for half a year can be confiscated!

“Well, let’s start the first vote. The time limit is sixty seconds.” Mr. Sakagami reminded politely

The students woke up as if from a dream and immediately began to answer as agreed.

In the first round of voting, 20 votes were given for everyone not having living expenses for half a year, 19 votes were given for everyone losing half of their living expenses for half a year, and 0 votes were given for five students with the lowest written test scores not having pocket money for half a year.

“Since there is no consensus among the audience, we will set up a halftime break. You have 10 minutes.”

“Fuck....”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

At the same time, also realized this is the real test, and need to proceed to stage of thinking and negotiation.

Ryuen turned his chair and looked towards Hikigaya, “So, how do we choose this question?”

“Don’t you already have an idea?”

“....” Ryuen. “I want to choose the first one, but you will definitely be one who suffers the most.”

One of the agreements when Hikigaya came to Ryuen’s class was that you had to pay for him.

Then, Hachiman will take 70% of living expenses for Ryuen’s class with a evaluation score of 500 points or more, and will also take 70% of huge extra points awarded in the exam.

Therefore, if confiscated everyone’s living expenses or something, would definitely suffer a huge loss.

Hiyori added her own points, “If you choose option one, all students’ living expenses will be confiscated for half a year, and three random students will be exempted from expulsion. For the next six months will be based on the current class rating score, and it will fluctuate.”

This is indeed something that needs to be thought about.

If we only refer to current class evaluation score of 825, Hachiman can get about 880,000 private points every month.

The loss for six consecutive months is about 5 million private points.

So it is equivalent to him paying 5 million points to get 3 places for expulsion protection.

Still very cost-effective.

If he were to be paid based on fluctuating class evaluation scores, that would not be in his best interest.

After all, he came to this class to earn money, and if all was taken away, it would be a waste of his time.

No need to offend Hachiman.

But Sakagami disagrees.

He had just heard Ryuen’s discussion, and he also felt that plan was right.

Choosing option 1 would randomly get three students’ death-proof gold medals.

After all, current class evaluation score was only over 800 points, and could only get a total of more than 3 million private points in a month.

If the points were confiscated for 6 consecutive months, then it would be less than 20 million private points, but it could save three students!

It’s equivalent to selling it at 70% off.

So price-performance ratio is very high.

As Sakagami answered, he noticed that Hikigaya-kun’s face didn’t show much expression, and Hiyori also looked regretful.

Ryuen is bored.

“Choose option 3 later. We will cover the living expenses of last five students who pass written test. Each person can receive a minimum of 30,000 private points.”

???

This made Sakagami a little confused.

Because Ryuen and others don’t want such a cost-effective opportunity?

Of course he didn’t know that Ryuen was more confident than him.

Ryuen brought in a player because he felt that Hikigaya Hachiman was poisonous.

As long as he was hostile to him for a day, Ryuen always felt that it would be difficult for him to earn points or that his money would definitely be cheated away.

On the other hand, there is naturally idea of everyone benefiting from it.

Since Hikigaya is so good at making money, then just follow him.

He has 2 floors anyway. So why not?

And if Hikigaya managed to get a very high score for the class during this period of time after his living expenses were confiscated for six consecutive months, wouldn’t that be a huge loss?

So, option suddenly became unappealing.

Ryuen recruited Hikigaya to see the possibilities he brought, rather than just following the routine.

He believes in his own vision.

Second round of voting on Question 3.

0 votes for option 1, 0 votes for option 2, and 39 votes for option 3.
