Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1447: Chapter 25: Delgado’s Grand Miscalculation

Hill, who also had two daughters and an old father already abducted, couldn’t help but ponder whether Count Stelter’s approach was better.

Then he quickly shook his head.

He definitely couldn’t do it.

There wasn’t enough time to protect his daughters’ eyes and souls! How could he possibly let them experience everything and then sever all ties?

Who would want their children to turn into an Exterminating Master!

He indeed hoped his daughters would be knowledgeable and worldly, but not in this way... Hill felt even a second in this living environment was a kind of pollution.

”Count Stelter must have a very tough personality,” Hill pondered for a moment before speaking slowly.

”What?” Ellie, whose eyes seemed a bit dazed, probably feeling lucky, snapped back to reality and responded, ”My father is truly a military man.”

Her tone paused, and she suddenly turned her head towards the opposite box.

”Ah...” Ellie murmured, ”My mother is too.

No wonder... Recently my father didn’t dare to go to the training ground to see my mother.

I thought it was because he didn’t want to see her painful rehabilitation!”

”Count Stelter and Countess have a great relationship,” Hill said dryly, not intending to comment further on this imaginative Count... Perhaps it was because he spent too long in the desert, so when he returned, he soaked in the sea water a bit too much.

Hmm... It should be an Ambori-level sea bath.

By the way, what’s the name of the Ocean God here?

Hill only remembered an especially handsome male Sea God with a beautiful deep blue fish tail, a well-built waist upon which hung an exquisite conch horn... When Hill landed in Aesces, all the deities of this world had been observing from the Stellar Realm.

Hill would of course look back.

But perhaps due to Agleya, he always focused more on Water Element deities... Behind this Ocean God stood seven or eight Lesser Gods, and no Water Deities stood elsewhere... At the very least, the ocean deity system in Aesces was united.

This is quite normal, even though the oceans of Aesces only occupy a third of the planet, as long as faith can be unified, it won’t be weak.

Initially, Hill wasn’t very interested in the deities of this world. After all, anyone could feel the powerful presence of the Will of the World of Aesces.

In such worlds, the good or bad of deities is just whatever.

No matter what they do, they must adhere to the rules set by the Will of the World of Aesces.

But now, Hill suddenly wanted to explore the legends of deities in this world!

Looking so good, shouldn’t they be... having a personality like Ambori?

Ellie’s low groan interrupted Hill’s wandering thoughts. The young girl held her left waist, muttering in confusion, ”No wonder, mom always said, dad can fight the Desert People to the death because no one can guess what kind of horse runs in his head!

Turns out... this isn’t praising dad?”

Ellie pressed on her ribs hard... She had a stitch from gasping earlier and needed some pressure to relieve the pain, a slightly helpless smile hung at the corner of her mouth.

Her parents did love her a lot, but... could they consult her before doing things?

Even though she might not offer any insight, at least she wouldn’t be scared to death by choking on her own saliva, right?

”Two hundred thousand!” A shout from opposite awakened the bewildered Ellie... after the Vice President offered a price, he proudly scanned the entire venue.

The young female apprentice beside him looked at him with an expression filled with admiration: ”Such a good material, only in the hands of Delgado, the respected President of the Alchemist Association, can it be processed ideally, right?”

The venue stirred.

This old guy clearly had no shame and planned to use his position and power to suppress competitors.

Ellie’s face quickly darkened.

”Shameless old bastard!” she muttered, frowning, ”He dares to look down on our Stelter family.”

While Delgado’s approach was despicable, it was effective... generally, the organizers of an auction would not permit such occurrences.

To organize an auction of this level, one must have enough strength to suppress those hoping to make a profit without any investment... no matter how orderly the world is, once there’s profit, there will always be some who ignore everything.

But, doesn’t the Stelter family want Ellie to apprentice under Delgado?

Then Count Stelter can’t go out at this moment and smack him in the face, telling him to shut up, right?

Watching the silent auction hall, Delgado was full of self-assuredness — Stelter family went out of their way to get the Mithril news into his ears while he was in seclusion crafting things, what was their intention, he certainly figured it out.

Even though he was overly excited at first, rushing out with all his assets onto his Crystal Energy Carriage upon hearing the news, but... doesn’t the carriage drive itself, right?

Having that much time to think, Delgado naturally understood what the Stelter family wanted to do.

He... did indeed want to accept that Miss Stelter for money.

However, his apprentice must bring him something... especially female apprentices.

After accepting her, he needs to settle down and cultivate his nature. How can one piece of Mithril be enough?

Hehe~

Delgado’s lips curled into a sly smile... If this piece of Mithril was bought by him, then... for the Stelter Family to ask him to take Miss Ellie as an apprentice, they’d need to provide a material of equal value, wouldn’t they?

Delgado was confident that as long as the Stelter Family wanted real guidance from him, they wouldn’t measure the material’s value based on his auction price.

His large hand gripped the female apprentice again, excitedly.

Amidst the soft cries of the female apprentice, Delgado laughed heartily.

”300,000.” A voice spoke calmly.

The observers quickly identified where the voice came from... Most of the private rooms had their one-way glass windows tightly drawn, with quotations given by the private room attendants.

Only one private room, regardless of how tightly it was closed, everyone could identify the owner... as the unicorn whale leaping out of the ocean into the sky was vividly depicted on the glass window!

And the voice, familiar to many in Basia City, since most people had dealt with him before.

Captain of the Guard, Joshua.

It seemed that Count Stelter didn’t plan to give any leeway to the vice-president of the Alchemist Association... even though this guy openly claimed to be the president and acted in a highly divided manner in relation to the Stelter Family’s political rival, the true President of the Alchemist Association, Sage Finch.

Delgado was instantly dumbfounded.

He, of course, knew who had orchestrated that bid.

He frowned, silently sitting back down, no longer as arrogant... He acted that way initially to show his disdain for the Stelter Family.

Only then would the other party keep increasing their offers to make him willing to teach their young lady.

If he showed he was dreaming of that Mithril, wouldn’t the Stelter Family hold the initiative?

After all, his persistent advances had already exposed too much, so Delgado tried to gain some initiative in other areas.

Although he indeed had a bad relationship with Finch, most of the Alchemist Association’s powers were reluctant to let the military-aligned Stelter Family join their ranks.

This was not just a political issue.

Most of Danboro’s raw material sources were actually controlled by the military, and the Alchemist Association could only pay to buy items.

Fortunately, the mainstream alchemical heritage belonged to the Alchemist Association.

Until they could research better alchemical oddities themselves, the military could only pay for services... Alchemists wouldn’t refuse the powerful military force, but sometimes lacking their own research capabilities inevitably subjected them to others.

And the profession of alchemist has always been a possession of traditional nobles, including Great Sage Ismael.

No matter how good his relationship was with the military and the Royal Family, he still needed to stand with the Alchemist Association for his family’s sake.

And those military alchemists who could only make certain standard alchemy items were just that.

Sometimes, knowing how to do it and knowing why you’re doing it are vastly different... but if someone tells them, then that difference can disappear in an instant.

The Stelter Family thought no one was willing to take their young lady as a student because Count Stelter, favored by the previous king, stirred too much trouble in the Royal Capital when he was young.

But in fact, even if Count Stelter were an honest man easily bullied, as long as he remained a military noble, the outcome would be the same, ah, no, the outcome would be worse... his daughter would have no chance to become a Mage.

If Count Stelter hadn’t semi-retired from the military... although his eldest son, Ditte, remains in the border army, due to his father’s offense to the King, now his status is no different from other sons of great nobility who went for shiny recognition, with no entry into the formal army ranks.

Clearly, the Stelter Family is planning to turn towards local nobility, so... they can relax a bit.

Delgado wouldn’t even think of extorting some money and teaching casually to get by.

Though he was always greedy, willing to do anything for money... he didn’t want to offend so many colleagues at once.

After all, Finch always wanted to kick him out of the Alchemist Association, and he wouldn’t give that old undead a chance!

But now, it seemed he might have made a wrong move.

Tsk~

Indeed, although Count Stelter is aggressive and stubborn, he’s never been a fool, and surely he can see what he’s up to.

Though the Stelter Family is willing to pay a hefty price to transition to traditional nobility, they must also consider whether the family treasury can withstand it.

It’s just that Delgado was a bit confused... Isn’t this piece of Mithril supposed to belong to the Stelter Family itself?

The message he received seemed to say otherwise?
