Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1425: Chapter 3: The Wind Element Lord in a Cage

Purwell was quite confused, but as someone else’s mount, he could only obey… The most important thing was that, in this endless starry sky, he couldn’t even catch the scent of a drop of water. The talent of the Otherworldly Whale to directly traverse to a random ocean of a world couldn’t be activated at all, worse than the time he got caught by that group of Evil Mages.

At that time, he knew clearly that as long as he preserved his soul, there was still a sliver of hope.

But if he were here, he might have to swim to death in this illusory starry sky!

The most critical part… He turned around several times but didn’t find any trace of food!

If not for being with someone wealthy like Hill, who carries a Half-plane, entering this starry maze would require turning into Undead creatures?

Faced with Purwell’s whimsical ideas, List just warmly told him, aside from instructing him to proceed in the direction Hill pointed: “No, you might just have to eat tasteless Magic Bread, Nutrition Beads, things like that.

If a Transcendent dares to step into the starry sky, they must at least handle this… Otherwise, perhaps they naturally don’t need to eat.”

Purwell nodded earnestly.

It’s not that he is too bored, mainly… as an Otherworldly Whale with a strong sense of direction, he reluctantly follows the questionable path pointed by Hill.

But at first, his half-belief dissipated as those seemingly dead ends, or even terrifying black holes, starry sky vortexes instantly turned into pathways, causing Purwell to abandon his instincts completely.

However, he truly needed to shift his focus; otherwise, charging directly into a black hole was extremely nerve-wracking for a whale!

List helplessly watched Hill, who kept his eyes shut and completely ignored the outside commotion, wave his fingers clad with the Crystal Flower Ring frivolously.

His master always prided himself on his luck; but now, it seems he completely entrusts his fate to fortunes… Really, is it because he felt so hopeless after being captured by the Lady of Pain, who rivals Coron, that he just gave up?

In truth, Hill was unconcerned.

The Lady of Pain wanting his life was not so easy.

That lady with blades for hair had already tied her life to Mark City… While she is invincible within the city, capable of battling Coron who carries the entire God System’s power for so long.

Yet she also trapped herself within Mark City.

Struggling against powerful figures like Hill not near Mark City requires such tactics as this starry maze… Either exhaust them to death or escape and survive.

The Lady of Pain doesn’t care about those who escape; after all, they wouldn’t dare cause trouble in Mark City, so they’d have to accept their misfortune.

The death of the God of the Teleportation Array deters the deities and warriors from directly entering Mark City… Even Coron just cursed from outside the city.

However, these Elf Deity, capable of controlling plant growth across half a universe, posed a real hassle… Due to pollution and lack of sunlight, Mark City harbors mostly Razor Vine.

Yet it thrives excessively; if not for the daily trimming by the Lady of Pain’s Dabas, these dreadful vines would quickly overrun the city.

Those seemingly weak Elf Goddess soon discovered Mark City’s weak spot… They didn’t want to strip plants of their life, so merely accelerated their growth.

The Goddesses did this without hesitation; initially indifferent, the Lady of Pain soon realized… They were breeding new Dabas for years just to trim the vines.

This actually consumed her own Divine Power.

Otherwise, the Lady of Blades would have to turn her countless blades into garden scissors and prune herself… Dabas have no particular preference, only plants can slightly lift their spirits.

Even the Lady of Pain wouldn’t want Mark City’s caretakers to fall into despair… That Dabas enticed by the God of Magic was persuaded purely out of love for greenery.

In some sense, Dabas are Mark City and the Lady of Pain’s children… Rebel kids! Punish the one who led them astray, but the child is blameless, right?

This is not the Lady of Pain’s will; but Mark City cares for its children without fault.

So, the Dabas who dared openly change allegiance still runs a flower shop in the city’s lower quarters!

What could the Lady of Pain do?

In the end, she stood expressionless at the outer rim of Mark City, waging war against the Elf Deity System directly.

However, the only advantage of this lady is: as long as she has taken revenge, she is satisfied. If the opponent is lucky enough or powerful enough to truly escape from her famously difficult labyrinth, she won’t continue to cause trouble.

Although cold and violent in temperament, she still abides by the rules. As long as you don’t provoke her again, she generally won’t continue to cause trouble.

For Hill, it’s like waiting for the other boot to drop. Even though it hurts, it was something unavoidable all along, might as well take it!

In any case, he has no capability to deal with the Queen of Mark City, and can only accept his fate.

Even if he were to curse a Goddess at the level of great Divine Power, the backlash would be terrifying. So, Hill merely opened his mouth, then pursed his lips and gave up.

Of course, even without a grudge with Lady of Pain, Hill wouldn’t go to that city built on the inner core… where looking up you can see the top of people’s heads across from you, and occasionally when Mark City shakes, something might fall down from the other side… it sounds interesting, but having to live in there, with his vivid imagination and cleanliness obsession, is a bit unacceptable.

With his eyes tightly shut, Hill couldn’t help but bless Coron a few times: “Really hope Father of Elves, this time can achieve his wish and return satisfied.”

“Since when have you been so nice to Coron?” List laughed.

“Ah… Whenever I forget the Elven God King, Coron is still good.” Hill stretched lazily, flicked his fingers upward, and Purwell in the light orb slapped his tail forcefully, with his chest fin hurtling downward, “Ah! Do we have to go up again?”

“Hmm…” Hill, intending to say he was just stretching, hadn’t opened his mouth when he heard Purwell’s voice, “Hey? There’s a different environment above?

Seems like we’ve switched to another galaxy! It’s a bit better than the previous environment~”

Hill silently withdrew the words that were on the tip of his tongue and continued playing his fingertip game… In any case, not only are the materials he was planning to collect over the next 20 years all gathered, but there are three extra sets. So, taking this time to wander isn’t bad at all.

No matter whether the fact that the two abandoned universes he found unexpectedly belong to Eosca was an accident, Hill is still quite satisfied with the result.

Turning diligent exploration time into a pleasant labyrinth journey, what’s there to be dissatisfied about?

Hill smiled, tapping his toes to the rhythm, his fingertips dancing joyfully, even stepping down a few steps… walking and walking~ Regardless of up, down, left, right, east, south, west, north, anyway~ nowhere is familiar.

List felt Hill had truly let loose his playfulness, estimating that nothing could impede his unrestrained rhythm… The Tower Spirit mulled over it for a long time, yet couldn’t figure out which song was playing in Hill’s mind now.

There’s no need at this moment to ask how he intends to leave the labyrinth resembling nested boxes… Even though Hill always claimed he was grown up, List, familiar with Aurelio, didn’t really think Hill is different from that giant chrysanthemum bear.

Haiweirsen once said these two are peers, not because the bear who lived for thousands of years was immature, but genuinely felt Hill, this Little Bear, was mature… In his twenties, he could be on the same maturity level as Aurelio!

Yet, List didn’t want to disrupt Hill’s sweetened image of his past… But truth be told, even if Hill lived to the end in the original world, others’ evaluations would perhaps only reach mischievous child, then a kid that never grows, finally to an old trickster.

“Hey?” After following Hill’s fingertips for more than half a month, Purwell finally saw something new in the Starry Sky, “Sir! There’s a big cage ahead!”

Hill finally opened his eyes… Alas, pleasant days still arrive at their end, true life eventually faces him.

“This is… some Element Lords who entered Mark City and were then captured and thrown into the labyrinth… or Elemental Gods?

Lady of Pain, does she really not spare even these Elemental Creatures?” Hill looked at the presence in the huge cage and couldn’t help but widen his eyes in surprise.

“Elemental creatures are quite stubborn, right? If she continually seeks trouble and killing isn’t an option, can only confine them.

Anyway, as long as she’s alive, the Deities from the Elemental Realm won’t bother Mark City.” List also looked puzzled at the large metal cage, roughly twenty square meters in size and five meters high, in front getting closer, tone tinged with hesitation, “That’s… could it be some Wind Element Princess that Eosca fancies?”

“Stop kidding around!” Hill scratched his head, “Kais told me, no matter how pretty the humanoid creature, it’s no different than a ‘Duchess’ in his eyes.”

“Seems Sir has already figured it’s a Wind Element Princess?” List spoke calmly, “But what kind of cage can confine an Elemental Creature that can turn into wind at any time!

I thought Air God Creatures were all contained in Magic Lamps!”

Hill pressed his forehead: “No, it’s just a metal cage made of Refined Platinum and Shadow Filament, without even a Magic Array.

Although these materials indeed can increase resistance to Wind Elements and Sound Waves, but… definitely not that strong.

According to my knowledge on Elemental Creatures, the most likely reason is, she swore an oath herself.”
