Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1422: Chapter 1212: Until We Meet Again

Hill didn’t expect that the one most affected by his departure was actually the Little Golden Dragon, Taili.

Ever since a few unexpected guests arrived at the Floating Castle, this little dragon started playing by himself, and sometimes he would even go on adventures with Tasding.

Even Lynn would only see him once every few months unless he went to the port inn.

But Hill and Lynn both understood… Taili was still young and had a great interest in the world; in the future, he would likely be like other Giant Dragons, sleeping most of the time, perhaps emerging once every century or so to see if anything new had happened.

So they tacitly chose to let Taili roam free.

However, Taili, knowing about Hill’s imminent departure, fell into sadness:

He had actually thought of leaving Toril with Hill someday, but he didn’t expect it to be so soon.

Taili was a bit reluctant to leave his parents.

Seeing Taili’s heartfelt cry, torn by his painful decision, Hill found it hard to say… I never intended to take you with me!

He really didn’t expect that after forming a Giant Dragon friendship contract with him, Taili would develop the idea of traveling the universe together!

Hill hadn’t considered at the time who might choose to leave with him… but he thought it would be Vila whom he would take from Toril.

But Taili, with both parents alive and still so young, never crossed his mind.

“Otherwise…” Hill said softly, looking at Taili, who was lying next to Purwell, looking upset, “When you miss me, you can go with Lynn to Teraxil!

I’ll definitely return there after my travels.

And by then, you might have had your fill of fun in Toril.”

Taili lifted one wing and rolled his great big eyes: “What’s there to do in Toril? Watch people eat dragons or dragons eat people?”

It seems he already knew about the attempts by some places on the Ferun Great Land to invade the Lalakond Continent.

“The Chromatic Dragons in Aber, although they operate independently, number over 300! Most of them are Ancient Dragons, so it’s impossible for them to lose.” Hill said helplessly.

“So, when they realize they can eat humans too, do you think they’ll come to Ferun Great Land to change their taste?” Taili sneered, “Don’t be fooled, while Metal Dragons and Chromatic Dragons are born enemies, if humanity is in conflict with Chromatic Dragons, except in territories protected by Metal Dragons, no one will care how many die elsewhere.”

“All Gods won’t…” Lynn, trying to comfort him with his arms crossed, was directly interrupted by Taili.

“Then isn’t it just… about discussing how to cook various dragon meats?” He tilted his head, speaking in an unusually calm tone, “You all are good people, so you probably won’t read that ‘Fielding’s Recipe.’”

Hill sighed: “I’m a Nature Mage, I don’t eat intelligent creatures.”

Lynn frowned and asked, puzzled: “What does that have to do with you? You just need to stay in Agleya!

Those Chromatic Dragons, no matter how rowdy, won’t come here.”

Taili paused for a long time before speaking gloomily: “My mom said that after I was born, she felt a sense of dread and tried many methods to predict my destiny.

But every time she predicted my adult life, it was shrouded in darkness, so she never let me leave her territory, not even letting me out of the Floating Island area.

But after meeting Hill, she found that even though my destiny was still unpredictable… it was no longer dark, but rather a broken line of destiny.

So if I hadn’t met Hill, I might not have been alive.

I… don’t want to leave Hill.”

“You wouldn’t die, just end up as an Undead Dragon.” Lynn said nonchalantly, “I figure you’re open-minded enough not to self-destruct just because of factional concerns.”

“But for my mom, I would.” Taili said very straightforwardly, “The Dragon Worship Church was determined to capture me back then, even willing to spend a lot to arrange a Lich reincarnation array, not just to get a Golden Dragon Lich.

They were after my mom and her prosperous territory.

Though I’m a little foolish, I still understand their greed when they look at me.”

Lynn couldn’t help but say: “But by doing this, you’re causing trouble for Hill.

He can’t possibly watch over you wherever he goes, can he?”

“I know I’m a trouble.” Taili shyly covered his head with his wings, “But my mom said… although most of my destiny lines are broken, there’s still one strange line attached to me which is tenuously connected.

This line comes from the Undead Tribe and Hill.

But if I leave Toril, this line can be broken!”

“Hmm?” Hill couldn’t help but look at him, “Me?”

“Yes, it’s a… very peculiar line, seemingly related to Deities but filled with an ominous glow.

Among the Dragon Gods, only one would give such a feeling.

My mom said she always felt I might catch Tiamat’s eye in the future.

That would be terrible! I absolutely, absolutely refuse.”

Hill blinked: “It’s said that your mom has Bahamut’s bloodline, is that true?”

“Ah…” Taili touched the tips of his wings together, creating a line he considered fine but… was actually thick enough to fit Hill’s fist, “It’s a really distant bloodline, almost negligible.”

Hill pressed his lips together: “I have a guess about where this line of destiny comes from.

Just never thought, that unlucky or lucky little dragon would appear in Toril in the future?

“These deities of Toril…no one wants to see her and her reckless red dragon father, do they?”

Lynn quickly realized who Hill was talking about, and after hesitating for a moment, he said, “I don’t think so.”

Hill looked at him curiously.

“You see, if anyone wanted to give Heim a hand, the troubles that red dragon causes could make Toril lively for a while.

Felunryel has quite a few tales, though fictional, yet…in some ways, they are quite real,” Lynn’s words were slow but clear in meaning.

Hill couldn’t help scratching his head, “Then we really can’t let Terry stay in Toril.

Even if that little dragon really turned into the Kind Alignment, I don’t think she would stay kind for long… a chromatic dragon that took pleasure in killing, or even tormenting, while still inside the dragon egg, no amount of Power of Purification could only warp her will for so long.

Humph~ Can you become a good person just by laying down the butcher’s knife?

I never believe such nonsense.

Sudden heartfelt realization is possible, but it must come after some severe shock.

Brainwashing methods… are not trustworthy.”

“Weren’t you planning to go out into the starry sky to find some resources first? Can you still take him with you?” Lynn frowned, watching the Golden Dragon who suddenly stood up excitedly.

Terry quickly responded, “I can sleep in the half-plane within Purwell!”

“What did you say?” Purwell’s little Light Orb quickly bounced out, “Are you trying to scare me and take over as captain?”

“Don’t worry,” Hill already leaned towards taking Terry with them, “I’ve found the best soundproofing material, even if two Terrys are snoring together, it won’t be heard!”

“Oh~ then that’s fine.” Trusting Hill’s words, Purwell returned at ease… they were initially reading various star routes, but hearing this terrifying news scared them enough to jump out.

“But I’m about to set off, can you really decide?” Hill stared at Terry, “I have many enemies, and this is the most suitable time, but there’s also a chance of being attacked, so going with me is risky.

Moreover, staying in Toril might be fine, while following me might trigger destiny’s path.”

“That’s not it~” Terry quickly shook his head, “Toril is different. I don’t care who I might meet or fall in love with in the future.

But I don’t want to be forced to fall in love with someone.

If I leave Toril, and I meet her, and feel attracted, then I chose destiny on my own.

But… Hill, don’t you also want to leave Toril because of this increasingly terrifying Power of Destiny?”

“So…” Hill finally realized, “Did your parents just throw you here long ago with the thought of having you travel with me?”

“Yeah!”

Like hell!

Right now, Hill just wanted to beat those two shameless dragons into submission!

Lynn turned his head and burst into laughter.

“Sigh… also need to leave a message for Tasding, he went to work in Chult!” Terry started thinking hard about what to do, “Then let those few dragon people go back and tell my mom, that’s enough. She already bade farewell to me when Bahamut came last time!”

“Are you really going to take him?” Lynn looked at the Golden Dragon pacing around Purwell, not quite understanding Hill’s decision, “Didn’t you hesitate about taking the good stuff from Toril when leaving?

Isn’t this more troublesome than a Divine Artifact? Surely he has to take quite a lot of good stuff when venturing out?”

Hill chuckled and shouted, “Terry, remember to seal all your stuff in the Dimensional Vault before you leave!

No need to bring money, just eat my food on the way.”

“Huh?” Terry turned back, “I’ve already put everything away!

Your departure isn’t a secret; I just didn’t expect it to be this soon.

Anyway, I didn’t leave a single copper coin on me!”

He said happily, “What you’re saying is pointless!

Dragons never spend money when they go out.

I even stashed my gloves in there!”

Terry’s amulet space is attached to Toril, and he can open it in other universes, but it doesn’t count as taking things away.

Besides, no one can deny that Terry is a dragon from Toril, and he and Hill are different.

Hill could do the same, but for him, a safe departure is most important, and it’s not worth risking unnecessary danger for a little money.

Terry quickly completed his farewell ceremony, dashing straight into the half-plane to the nest Hill specially made for him, identical to the Sword Mountain Range, to sleep.

Hill glanced around at his Agleya and finally, under the reluctant gaze of Lynn, who refused to turn away first despite countless persuasions, sat on Purwell’s back and flew into the starry sky.

Hill could see Lynn’s longing reluctance clearly.

Though he’s been thinking of leaving, as Purwell flew higher, about to render Lynn’s sad, lingering expression invisible, Hill couldn’t help but redden his eyes.

The moonlight from Celene was bright, illuminating the path ahead of Purwell.

Hill gently touched his chest, bidding farewell to the friends concerned about his departure.

Then, at the moment Purwell broke out of Toril, Hill softly said, “Until we meet again.”
