Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1420: Chapter 1210: Hill’s Comprehensive Preparations

If Hill knew about the Chromatic Dragons heading to other continents on Toril, he might understand a bit why AO did not send Lalakond back to Aber.

Perhaps, he had once thought of doing so, after all, they are the children of the Nine-Faced Dragon God, causing him much trouble, and were the culprits behind the heavy casualties of the Primordials he once wanted to protect.

AO simply did not want them to experience the good life on Toril.

However, with the Undead Tribe running rampant across the Ferun Great Land, and the Kingdom of Sel cowering in its territory, not daring to take action easily, especially after a certain lord had rounded up all the things that could cause chaos on the continent, he could only use these Giant Dragons to stir up trouble.

Otherwise, what could he do?

According to the normal Path of Destiny, the decades following Edna’s return to the Weave should have been the most tumultuous times for Toril... The Goddess of Magic, Mystra, must demonstrate both her strength and benevolence.

However, now Toril, even the Ferun Great Land, is unbelievably tranquil!

The presence of the Undead Tribe has also made the low-level, numerous Thieves’ Guilds that were most useful in the past completely disappear.

In the Ferun Great Land, not to mention the Metal Dragons and Gem Dragons, even the Chromatic Dragons are guarding their territories honestly, without any desire to go out and rob!

Even if the neighboring region can’t even guard its city walls now.

AO, looking left and right, sees that only the Aber Chromatic Dragons, who haven’t been beaten badly yet, can still act arrogant for a while.

As for whether Edna would use the Undead Tribe as a massive weapon of destruction... Is that even a question? Of course, she would!

Compared to personally appearing, full of poise, with a smile, eagerly asking those Chosen and Archmages for help, paying for services while filled with fondness, the Undead Tribe is much more useful for Edna!

Compared to the former two Mystra who liked using human mages as anchor points for the Weave, the current Mystra is more likely to prefer White Dragons and some Magical Curios, or magical phenomena formed by Primordial Power.

After all, if human mages suddenly live long and don’t die, they must have been favored by the Weave, and their identity as anchor points will inevitably be exposed.

But White Dragons?

With plenty to eat and drink, living happily, without encountering any life-threatening dangers, isn’t it only natural for them to live for thousands or tens of thousands of years?

Edna has a very distinct difference from the former two; she is closer to Mystree’s mindset of equality for all beings, not focusing her attention only on mortals.

But, that is for later.

Giant Dragons never act decisively, and by the time they dawdle and depart from the Lalakond Continent, Hill and Fran are ready to leave.

Although time is a bit tight, Fran, holding the locations of all masters skilled in crafting Strange Objects in the Ferun Great Land sent by the Harpist, is quite content.

As for Hill, he had already fully prepared all supplies from Agleya and crafted the inside of the Sword Mountain Range next door to be exceptionally sturdy... Even though he only placed the Mithril Wall in the special treasury at the very core, he meticulously transformed other areas layer by layer into various sturdy ores unique to Toril.

After spending so many years on Toril, he has learned the construction methods of many unique ores in this world, so Hill never intended to take the ordinary materials he purchased with him, he only takes the part of emerald gemstones he traded personally.

He kept nothing from what the Undead Tribe had.

For Hill, he has already achieved his main goals in coming to Toril, there is no need to take all the easily produced items... What if the Supreme God added something inside?

Lynn’s initial sorrow vanished as Hill took him through the winding, magically trapped quartz alloy steel secret passageways, entering one secret vault after another.

”Can Purwell fit it all?” He couldn’t help but ask, ”Can’t you take it all with you? Agleya’s municipal warehouse is already abundant!”

”Though, I might make you a little uncomfortable saying this... But!” Inside the Mithril Cottage set up with multiple Isolation Arrays where no spiritual body or deity incarnation can enter, Hill honestly told his friend, ”These things are all at my fingertips, even... The materials I use as stepping stones are purer than these.

What meaning is there in carrying these items I would never use around with me?”

Lynn frowned, looking at him: ”Is Teraxil’s Earth Deity System... that strong?”

”A single tree is an entire planet, and the Goddess of the Earth is the planet itself,” Hill thought for a moment, trying to speak tactfully, ”In a normal world, the Earth Deity System should naturally be the strongest.”

Lynn smiled helplessly: ”I will find a suitable opportunity to visit Teraxil and take a look.”

He then inadvertently glanced outside: ”Aren’t you leaving anything for Master Fran?”

”The materials Grandfather collected are more comprehensive than what I have. He had me look it over, and no matter if I have more or better, he absolutely wouldn’t take what’s mine.

If there’s ever an absolute need, Grandfather won’t hesitate to ask for what he needs from me, but ordinarily, he definitely won’t want to take anything from me,” Hill smiled, ”Besides, I can’t possibly leave materials from the Abyss and Hell nearby.

I never wrong myself, nor force myself to adapt just because something is better.”

Lynn patted his shoulder: ”That I can understand, any Elf would understand.”

Hill seriously told him, ”The Floating Castle is just a life-saving tool that I’m leaving for you in the open. If any fatal crisis occurs, it’s still best to hide in here.”

Lynn raised an eyebrow: ”If Agleya wants to have an accident, it would probably mean Toril is facing the apocalypse, right?

With the Undead Tribe and Shaer around...”

”Are you joking, Lynn?” Hill couldn’t help but turn his head, ”How long have I been in Toril? I’ve witnessed all sorts of disasters, crazy dragons, and two consecutive apocalyptic events!

Are you trying to tell me that such things will never happen again in Toril?

Even Edna wouldn’t dare to say that!”

Lynn’s mouth twitched into a stiff smile: ”What’s the difference between Toril’s apocalypse and a joke?

As long as ordinary people hide well, they can survive quite a few!”

”That’s why I want to leave you a place I think is the safest!” Hill pointed at the Mithril Cottage, ”The outer walls are directly connected to the earth veins of Toril!

In other words, if Sword Mountain Range ever collapses, Toril is probably already in pieces!

At that time, just bring the people you trust directly here.

This cottage has so many arrays that I could only expand it to this extent, but it can definitely fit tens of thousands of people.

By that time, the spatial arrays on the Mithril Outer Wall will send this cottage directly into outer space. You see, this is the hub, and Marsha’s core is placed here. At that time, she will control the cottage and turn it into an interstellar fortress.

There are other functions you don’t need to worry about understanding; Marsha knows them. Just remember to take shelter in time.

Of course, if it’s just an event like the Magicplague, Agleya’s Puzzle Lock should be able to hold.”

Lynn said wearily, ”I got it; although I don’t know where you get such a huge sense of crisis from, I really feel like I can live forever, witnessing the Pantheon change!”

”Isn’t that great?” Hill said with a calm face, ”At least I don’t have to worry about your safety when I’m not in Toril.”

”What’s that thing?” Lynn pointed at a seal locked in layers within a glass steel case, ”You casually leave a Subartifact on the table, what’s this seal?”

”It’s Edna’s,” Hill said without blinking.

”What?” Lynn suddenly turned to look at him, ”Why is it here with you?”

”The Old Age Striking King specifically asked me to find a safe enough place to keep it,” Hill lowered his eyes, a slight smile at the corner of his mouth, ”Those in the Undead Tribe have no idea how long they can stay in this world.

She loves Edna but doesn’t trust herself.

But she’s not willing to go against Edna’s wishes.

So... she told Edna that compared to William, who’s in a relationship with Shaer, she trusts her old friend, me, more.

Their Undead Tribe’s spatial equipment can be monitored by William at any time, which the Old Age Striking King sees as unsafe.

Edna split this seal into two, handing over the part containing more of her soul to me for safekeeping.

If one day Toril truly faces the fall of all gods and the avatar she left in Hidden Town doesn’t survive, then she’ll have to come work for you.”

Lynn’s mouth almost twitched: ”If it really comes to that, I would definitely have to take them and join Teraxil!

So, that female priest said that right in front of William?”

”Although it’s a bit... unfair to William, she wasn’t wrong, was she?” Hill rolled his eyes lightly, ”Edna wouldn’t dare let her guard down with Shaer either.

Lady of the Night, if she really doesn’t want to abide by those agreements, she’d tear them apart more decisively than anyone.”

Lynn couldn’t deny Hill’s words, much less the wariness he felt toward Edna.

From the start, he had no hopes that this cross-world love story could last forever.

Even if that William from Teraxil could remain devoted and unchanging, whether Shaer could do so was uncertain.

In a world like Toril, anything can happen... except for good deeds.

However, such potential troubles never lingered in Lynn’s mind; something suddenly came to him: ”By the way, Hill, you’ve been out of touch with the outside world lately, so you probably don’t know that many forces are looking to go to that continent traded from Aber.

The Snowfall Isle Alliance believes that Toril’s focus for the next century should be there.

But those few aren’t interested in developing followers beyond the Ferun Great Land... Shaer might be, but she’d definitely do so alone.”
