Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1411: Chapter 1201: The Confusion of Devis and Luca

Hill hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping short, pacing around the cat fountain.

Elisui and Villon showed no reaction at all; are they completely asleep?

”Hill?” Fran’s voice came from behind him, ”List told me the Floating Castle is temporarily quiet... Hmm? What are you doing? What’s going on with that fountain?”

”Oh, Coron’s two children are temporarily resting here with me; it’s nothing serious. I’m just checking on their condition.” Hill paused for a few seconds before answering slowly, ”Coming out once consumed most of their power, and I guess the next time they wake up will be in three months.”

Fran nodded and said nothing more: he never liked to interfere with Hill and his interactions with the elves.

”Grandfather,” Hill said with a smile, ”Right now Toril will probably be peaceful for a while; the Magicplague just ended, and most countries are rebuilding. At this time... they’re still quite polite to outsiders and won’t easily resort to underhanded dealings.

They’re also afraid that cross-border merchants won’t come to their countries, which would lead to a shortage of supplies.

Especially on the Ferun Great Land, the previous caravans... Deepwater City and Anmur along with Kalinsan basically accounted for two-thirds of the numbers here, with the rest primarily focused on Silvermoon City.

Although Silvermoon City wasn’t implicated this time... they’re probably not very interested in commerce right now.

After all, the one responsible for managing caravans is Sharol’s father... and Sharol is Edna’s mother in Luskan.

I guess he’ll have to go to Luskan to deal with his daughter who has fallen into a state of depression.

At this time, as long as someone is willing to take goods there, those countries will be friendlier and probably won’t interfere with your actions in searching for materials around.

Pulwell is very familiar with Toril’s roads; would you like him to take you on a tour?”

Of course, the main reason is that Fran isn’t someone who can easily be schemed against, let alone a weakling that ordinary cities can rob.

And those who can deal with Fran... as long as Hill is here, they won’t cause trouble.

Even the craziest Black Robe Halaster wouldn’t dare anger the Lord of Agleya at this time... Edna just ascended to the starry sky, who knows if she’s urgently in need of a target to establish her power?

When Midnight and Black Eye ascended to the starry sky, they certainly paid back grievances and grudges... of course, their path of destiny was indeed fraught with pitfalls, and their grudges were deep as the sea.

But Edna is different!

Her enemies have long since been reduced to dust, not even by her own hand.

And Dandell, saying he died at her hands, is more like he died by the hand of the Weave formed by the suddenly magnified Primordial Power of Toril.

As for Harua... Safras was swallowed up, so how could the others be spared?

The Harua Mage Kingdom, now in tatters, won’t be treated harshly by the Goddess of Magic, even if she’s dissatisfied.

The Northern Seven Sisters are so nervous because they’re worried that if they look around and see nobody Edna can take a step on, her eyes might land on them.

In the next twenty years at least, no one would dare provoke someone who can easily get in touch with Edna.

Fran really does want to walk around Toril.

He’s been in Aber for quite some time and certainly knows a lot of Toril’s stories... especially certain strange perspectives from Strange Objects Creators, which make Fran eager to visit and discuss alchemy concepts with them.

The little alchemist in Quel Senta, one of Edna’s teammates, he also went to look for him these past couple of days, but unfortunately, before they could discuss much, the child completely wilted.

Couldn’t even speak clearly... isn’t it just because Edna is Mystra?

Isn’t Toril’s path of destiny always bizarre, where anything can happen, so why act so fragile?

Making him satisfied only half of his curiosity.

The Otherworldly Whale is quite a nice transportation tool, especially the half-plane inside which allows him to experiment immediately in a suitable space once he gains new ideas... even if it explodes a dozen times, it won’t affect outsiders.

Fran thinks he should also consider setting up a suitable home for himself... but he can’t ask Hill because that kid would really find one and give it to him.

Fran feels he could choke on such a big bargain; if he refuses, sometimes Hill’s wet, regretful, disappointed eyes make it hard to say no.

Fran thought for a moment and suddenly frowned, ”Aren’t you planning to leave soon? I can see you’re behaving a bit too well in Toril... not even daring to keep a common subartifact for yourself.

Moreover, you’re always talking about transactions, never mentioning exploring treasures and such; I can guess what the World Will of Toril is all about.

Then... it’s best for you to leave early with your overly good luck!

What if there’s something you can’t refuse?

You could resolutely refuse the Nyscroll, but... this world might have treasures more suitable for mages than the Nyscroll.

What else is holding you from leaving immediately?

If you’re worried about my safety... I’m not someone who has to stay in Toril.

The world of mages, although Toril is more famous, is not the only one.”

Hill couldn’t help but show a warm smile: a family’s concern always focuses solely on health and safety.

”I’m waiting for the Elf Deity System and Mark City to go to war.” Hill replied honestly, ”The Lady of Pain is a mighty deity who loves to vent her rage.

I can’t be sure whether she’ll target me because of the Haber family affairs.

```
But, when the Elf Deity System has sorted out the clues and comes to settle accounts with her, it will be safer for me to leave then.
From what I know of Coron, at most a year, he should make a move.
However, before that, Grandfather, you must leave first.”
Fran pondered for a moment and understood why... Everyone came from noble backgrounds and everyone understood those little cunning ways:
Acting against related but not main individuals is only meant to show his own people, you see, I’m not afraid of him, didn’t I make a move?
Although Fran is not a pushover either, Hill would certainly not gamble on him... No matter how good the luck, Hill never gambles the lives of family and friends: a one-in-ten-thousand chance sounds simple, but who knows the blood and tears in that one?
”I’ll have Diamond and Lis keep in touch, once the Elf Deity System starts their move, you notify me immediately, Purwell is very fast.”
Fran is always a decisive person, if he needs to leave, he certainly won’t be reluctant.
But since there’s an opportunity, he indeed wants to take a stroll around Toril.
Lis’s core has already been placed back in the Floating Castle by Hill, so Fran straightforwardly set off... he wanted to take a walk in Quel Senta.
The alchemist master flying towards the clouds suddenly paused in mid-air, and then turned around, heading to the hotel beside Heart Lake.
Devis and Luca from Quel Senta were sitting on the top floor terrace, sunbathing with bewildered expressions.
Apparently, that tiger has been taking good care of these two who never found their way out.
Due to some special connection, the Clan Leader of the Black Rose has always taken good care of this Tiger Person named Soma, and when Edna’s issue came out, he personally appeared to bring these two unluckily surrounded at the port hotel to here by Heart Lake.
After all, since the Haber Family’s incident, no caravan would stay here.
No, from the beginning, no one wanted to stay here, they would rather travel overnight to the port hotel.
Initially, Hill thought of everything very thoroughly, and there’s indeed no faction limitation here, it’s just that the neighboring issues were overlooked... The golden light flashing Tower of the Dawn is just on the next hill, and the Silver Temple is beside the forest.
Even those with a clear conscience would feel uneasy staying here, fearing to be looked upon... and fearing more not to be.
”Master Fran.” The Tiger Person, holding a plate of fruit, asked with an uplifted face, ”Good morning! Luca still seems a bit lethargic, maybe not suitable for discussing alchemy.
I think he might still be talking nonsense.”
Fran helplessly smiled: ”I plan to take a walk in Ferun first. If you don’t want to visit Hidden Town to read, I might skip going to Shadow Valley.”
Soma’s round eyes widened suddenly: ”You mean... to go to Quel Senta first?”
Always holding a wine glass, the dazed Devis had a reaction: ”Hmm? Quel Senta?”
”Yes.” Fran nodded, ”The alchemy there in Quel Senta is quite unique, I’m very interested in exchanging ideas.
Do you want to join me?
Or... do you plan to stay here or go to Hidden Town?”
Devis shook his right hand, gathered an ice ball, then pressed it against his head.
”Whew...” He smiled bitterly and shook his head, ”Quel Senta must be in extreme chaos now.
Though we Azuth adherents probably won’t have any issue, but... we didn’t seize an advantage either.
Those maddened due to failure from following Safras are bound to try dragging us down with them.
Luca and I must return home.
After all, we are recognized allies by Mystra, they will somewhat have reservations.”
He stood up and gave Luca’s head a knock: ”Wake up, unless you want to see ruins upon returning home, pull yourself together!
Mystra won’t blame you for those Shuni followers’ matters!
At most, we lost an opportunity to rise rapidly, don’t act as if... the family has already been wiped out.
Don’t forget, it was the family who gave up on us first...”
Luca finally came to his senses, then suddenly turned and asked: ”Is your teacher... alright?”
Devis’s mouth twitched violently: ”How would I know!
Just as friends, can you not hit where it hurts so directly?
I am in so much pain! You know?
Why did the teacher choose silence back then!
I really want to know, what kind of benefits made him make that decision!”
Fran couldn’t help but laugh, these two kids seem quite resilient.
