Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1419: Chapter 1209: Toril’s Potential Crisis

Barso is a warrior with very firm will, yet his style is also very smooth; otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to run a treasure store on the most luxurious street in Deepwater City.

However, at this moment, even his always-straight posture couldn’t help but bend.

Although he knew what foolish thing his main god did, the fact that he was still alive and didn’t feel his life force constantly draining showed the Guardian God still had a glimmer of hope.

As long as believers remain, as long as they keep summoning him... how could the divinity of guardianship lack followers!

Barso only planned to be saddened for a while before picking himself up to become an ascetic, wandering across the Ferun Great Land... isn’t it just retracing the path from hundreds of years ago!

Though lying on the sea surface, he was already calculating in his mind where to start placating the public, where there are more followers of Heim... Back when Heim helped the Anmur colonists kill other lands’ primordial deities, it had already caused a large number of kind alignment believers to waver.

This time, the matter would surely spread, and the Toril gods would no doubt be pleased to praise Heim’s extraordinary insight... especially the new Mystra.

Just having been in contact for a while, Barso understood somewhat the personality of this goddess: vengeful and adept.

Her style is quite close to the Undead Tribe, with no ’awkwardness’ at all.

Moreover, those goddesses competing with Shuni for the divinity of beauty, although their competition lacks smoke, the sharp sarcasm exchanged is certainly not lacking.

Shuni, losing to Cyric, even if... it’s because their Heim’s selfish distractions were too heavy, but still, face was completely lost.

Barso gave a desolate smile: The love house of Lady Fiery Hair, the Holy Temple of Love, isn’t it most frequented by adventurers?

If she declares not to entertain Heim followers... those already wavering guys would certainly vanish instantly.

Before this, Barso was even considering how to minimize Shuni’s presence in this matter... Perhaps exaggerating a bit, portraying Heim as overly pure, and Cyric as unusually beautiful could work!

After all, it’s an issue from their... sigh, can’t curse... own doing, but there’s a significant difference between purity and lecherousness.

Though purity may make one appear silly, inviting the world to mock.

But, as a noble-born warrior, Barso understands the psychology of the high-ranking folks well... even the Guardian God fell out due to lecherousness, then who would dare to employ his followers as bodyguards?

However, all of Barso’s schemes were effortlessly thwarted by the Undead Tribe.

Shaer... If she took action herself, wouldn’t that mean the whole scene got recorded?

Perhaps even the hesitant look between the two ladies... even the fond gaze sweeping over their slender waists, the kind of slightly obscene expression meticulously comparing bust size, is all vividly visible.

Most importantly, at this point, is there still hope in claiming that the beautiful Rouge Mark lady is Laila?

Shuni left no ambiguity in identifying Cyric’s identity, didn’t she!

Even if Lady Fiery Hair, under some external suppression, remains silent, she couldn’t publicly deny her words... Doesn’t that mean unless the Undead never return to Toril, this matter can’t be suppressed?

Those are Coron’s elves! Their generational renewal isn’t in decades, but centuries!

Barso ’thumped’ and collapsed onto the sea surface, creating a huge splash... might as well let him die!

He really wishes to vanish directly with the main god like those demigods chosen who once followed the Sun God Amanata!

”Sir, store owner?” asked a red-robed undead seriously, ”Need help sending you back to Deepwater City? We’re just passing through to Agleya!”

”Thank you for your kindness,” Barso covered his face with both big hands, not intending to let these undead see his continuously twitching expression, ”I wish to stay calm for a while, just let me drift around!”

Then his expression grew even more pained.

A conversation drifted from the Undead’s ship setting sail, carried by the wind:

”Why does he want to drift in the sea? To feel Ambori’s embrace?”

”That’s a follower of Heim, probably wants the cold sea water to wash away the terrible memories in his mind.”

”Isn’t Cyric quite beautiful? I still think Shuni is more pleasing to the eye... though she’s a bit two-faced, but with class!

If it wasn’t for the girls analyzing those words one by one, I would have truly thought she’s a considerate and understanding girl!”

”Hey~ who cares about Cyric! Isn’t Heim’s obvious lechery the real highlight!”

”Hmm... do the deities in Toril care about this?”

”Isn’t the Guardian God different? He’s always seemed pretty decent, heard he even had enough confidence to contest with Tyr for the divinity of justice!”

”Hmm? Tyr... Isn’t Tyr an old bachelor?

When facing two beauties like Cyric and Shuni, Tyr probably couldn’t resist either?

For a house that’s been unlit for ten thousand years, such things happening are only natural.”

”Huh~ did Tyr offend you?”

”His knight has so many things going on! He told me not to dance naked on the rooftop and even tried to cover me with their foot wraps!”

”Did you jump at Agleya? Did the courage come from your dreams of Hill? Aren’t you afraid of being smashed into a meat pie?”

”Hill doesn’t care about that!”

”He doesn’t interfere in the square, but on the residential rooftops, he will interfere! Haven’t you been to the Hill Family?”

”Why do you watch Heim’s followers cursing Tyr? Is there something wrong?”

”What is there to say? Now, probably only Olypher’s embrace can keep him rational, right?”

”I head north ~ Leaving the season with you ~ The warm seawater can’t extinguish the blazing fire in my heart ~ ”

Barso only felt that although the Undead Tribe’s choir sang off-key, with no tune discernible, the content matched his mood: ”Just wish the cold North Pole will freeze everything.”

He just hated that he couldn’t cry, his head filled with water and not a bit less... but he has always been strong, completely unable to do so.

So, he must find a way to get through this, rather than simply changing beliefs like others.

Though Heim isn’t great, he saved his life, led him in battles from south to north, and let him witness the scenery atop countless peaks.

Could he give up his loyalty and admiration for Heim over something not even considered evil?

Just embarrassing, right?

Barso turned over, faced the sea, and shouted softly: ”What does embarrassment count for? I can tough it out!

My lord will surely return!”

Then he nervously checked the seabed... the weed-less environment made Barso relieved.

It’s not like he felt saying this was embarrassing, who wouldn’t need a pep talk before undertaking an extremely difficult job, likely full of ridicule?

But now, Heim’s followers actually don’t want to be noticed, nor do the chosen ones.

Those who dare show their faces publicly at such a time could probably build a nation on their own in the future!

All it takes is thick skin.

Barso decided to float along the ocean current for a year or so, wait to be washed ashore... let destiny decide where Heim’s revival journey begins!

After all, he couldn’t come up with an idea himself; he definitely wouldn’t go to Maztika, right?

Right, hasn’t that place exchanged with one of Aber’s continents?

Barso turned over again... Did those places revert after the Magicplague ended?

Anyway, the ocean current always moves from warm to cold, then from cold to warm, finally pooling in the Great Sea, and if Aber’s continent hasn’t exchanged back, should Heim’s followers head over there?

With the isolation wall formed by the Primordial Storm completely disappearing, the Chromatic Dragons on Lalakond Continent fell into chaos, not even thinking about mocking the Primordial ones.

The sunlight for so long, they’ve had enough! Now they just want to return to the pitch-black Aber!

If they don’t leave, Tiamat is coming!

Now that’s a notorious looter!

The Dimensional Gate can open now, but what about their Lalakond Continent?

Do they have to abandon the homeland they’ve worked on for tens of thousands of years, and awkwardly retreat to seize Toril Continent?

But Aber’s other Giant Dragons are surely dividing that continent by now?

Are they returning too late?

The unlucky dragons from Aber don’t know that originally, because the even more unfortunate Mystra died twice in a short period, their Lalakond returned to Aber after just a trip to the Otherworld... only both sides brought some creatures from the other’s world back.

But this time, the short tour might become permanent settlement, and they, who even forgot Tiamat and Bahamut, may need to go find racial memories buried in their bloodline.

However, Lalakond Continent is a bit more fortunate than Maztika which went to Aber; after all, the dragons and Primordial are not easy role models, those elite individuals in Toril fond of operating slave businesses thinking they can treat the new continent like Maztika natives, will only hit a wall and donate some treats with a new flavor.

The dragons’ worries are just about having to change past lifestyles, for instance... the gold statues swaggeringly placed at the Dragon Lair’s entrance must be hidden away.

Yet some dragons have lovely visions of the future... Aber has no ordinary folks who can act as cooks, the most excellent food they’ve eaten was roast lamb served by an Archmage from outside.

Toril should have plenty of good food, right?

However, over three hundred Chromatic Dragons on Lalakond have been hesitant about leaving the continent for elsewhere... they’re still unsure about Toril’s powerhouses’ strength.
