Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1409: Chapter 1199: Ferun Great Land in Chaos

”Shaer’s attention...” Lynn hesitated repeatedly, realizing this wasn’t the place to speak, and swallowed his words.

Hill gave him a gentle smile.

He understood what Lynn wanted to say: Although Lansendel’s faithfuls dwindled to only a few during the Dawn Calamity, later, as his followers grew, the number of his faithfuls quickly increased again.

There are at least more than ten with notable names, not to mention several others who wander the world proclaiming the glory of the Lord of Dawn.

Celene’s faithful archbishops also number no less than ten.

Only Shaer... treats faithfuls as consumables.

It’s uncertain if it’s because of the insatiable greed of the evil followers, or Shaer’s overly sensitive nature, but those who die by her own hand are likely more than those taken out by outsiders.

The only one who lived long enough had ambitions and desires placed strangely, Iltmara.

And that Abert who decided to start his own group because he felt Iltmara didn’t really have an apocalyptic heart.

Hydra was during the Years of Turmoil when Shaer swallowed a few weak and demigod powers to produce that obedient serpent.

Just these three faithfuls, having to do all sorts of tasks.

Thinking of Iltmara, clearly a homebody who just enjoys hiding in the underground palace with her handsome young guard, yet always has to travel long distances tirelessly.

She just returned home from Harua, barely catching her breath, and she now has to head to Icewind Valley.

Whereas the more active Abert from Anmur has traversed the entire Ferun continent.

Shaer’s followers absolutely dare not complain about too much overtime... when busy, even 996 is a luxury.

Fortunately, she and Agleya can still exploit their subordinates, leaving the trivial matters for others, only handling the final touches themselves.

Hydra goes without saying, who hasn’t seen his busy figure on this Path of Destiny!

So, this Nasir mage, although promoted with a raise, whether this is truly a good thing, no one dares to confirm.

After all, being hardworking is one thing... but a single misstep could negate all that effort, leaving a future of potential hanging offense—struggling against the noose.

We can only wish for Nasir to maintain this calm-headedness and not lose reason due to greed lurking in the shadows.

”Any movement from the Northern Seven Sisters?” Hill thought for a moment, then turned to ask Lynn, ”Now, no Harpist would be keeping information from you, right?”

”The Harpists... most are genuinely having mixed feelings now.” Lynn smiled oddly, ”After watching a great spectacle, they realize it was centered on themselves, yet they were the last to know, such an embarrassing and torturous feeling!”

So, even though all information was given to me, no one wants to meet me.

Is it because of shyness?”

Or is it that they don’t want to see your face that’s practically shouting ’See, it’s your turn today’?

Lynn’s expression was too obvious.

He must have had some unusually cordial ’interactions’ with them at the Harpist Building, perhaps more than once, which caused those Harpists to avoid him entirely.

Otherwise, they’d likely appear very friendly... In the past, the Harpist Alliance under Mystra, emboldened by their own goddess, dared to show arrogance toward this believer of Miliel, Lynn.

Especially when Miliel seemed keen to separate from Mystra.

But... not now.

Whether Mystra and Miliel would part ways is uncertain, at least both are clearly backing Lynn, supporting him.

As for them, whether the Goddess Edna would take them on is still unknown.

Lynn seemed oblivious to Hill’s peculiar gaze, just grinned happily and said, ”Otherwise, there’s no way I’d know about the Tethyr matter so quickly... those two factions sent emissary teams to Agleya just after departure!”

Recently, all sorts of news from the Ferun continent comes without needing me to go to the Harpist Building; they simply have it delivered by patrolling City Guard.”

So, what exactly did you do to make politically savvy, widely-connected Harpists avoid you to this extent?

Hill hesitated... never mind, over these years, due to the Harpists’ little schemes, Lynn already had his hands full, even becoming a bard raising little birds, exchanging news everywhere, with a persistent simmering fire inside.

Better vent it toward the Harpists.

That’s better than him constantly complaining about Hill’s inaction.

”Currently, Agleya no longer needs to accept alliance requests from any country or city,” Hill thought for a moment, then advised Lynn, ”Including the Elf Kingdom.

We are now in an invincible position; as long as we keep our core intact, Toril’s troubles generally won’t come to Agleya.

In your diplomatic dealings, you may be courteous, but there’s no need to appear too soft in your stance.”

Lynn nodded: ”I understand.”

Then he remembered Hill’s previous question: ”Right now, all the Northern Seven Sisters are in Luskan.

It seems they want to ask Sharol how Edna ended up becoming who she is now, right under their noses.

Also, why she didn’t feel a thing when her biological daughter was replaced.”

”Although that woman isn’t a good mother, it’s not something you can blame on Sharol,” Hill couldn’t help shaking his head, ”Edna didn’t even know who she was, probably only figured it out after fighting Haber.”

Lynn spread his hands and smiled: ”But what can they do?

The bright future was ruined by Sharol’s selfish whims.

If she’d been a bit kinder to Edna, at least she wouldn’t have to follow a foreign Elf to the forest to rebuild a home from scratch... no wonder the Seven Sisters are in such a dilemma.

Laila even took her in!

Even if she’s not treated as well as Sharol, well... there’s no niece, so there’s no niece’s child, at least it makes sense.

But right now, the most embarrassed one is Elaströ, but the most awkward is Xinbu.”

”Because of her appreciation for Edna?” Hill laughed, ”Edna wouldn’t mind such a small matter.

At least, Xinbu genuinely thinks Edna is just Edna and not someone’s daughter, and that she’s a good girl.”

”The Storm Queen made the announcement in front of all gods.” Lynn’s expression was peculiar, ”I bet even Liansel is laughing at this... Xinbu really had a good eye, she saw Edna’s extraordinariness at a glance.

Yet, she’s blind.

Her own main god sat there watching them fight the whole time, even engaging in jokes with Xinbu... and none of those sisters recognized her.”

”Just saying they’re blind?” Hill chuckled.

”That’s the message I got from the Harpist, but... my friend in Raesman told me, Sazzastan laughed so hard he fell off his own throne.”

Hill knew this about the country of Raesman, although it’s a neighbor to Sel, it’s separated by tall mountains and a big lake, and is rather barren... most importantly, the people may not be many, but are fiercely combative, and they even play with cremation after death... grateful for the threat of neighbors, they’d rather be ground into dust than sit silently beside the Styx.

Therefore, except for chasing enemies, Sel seldom ventures towards Raesman.

Of course, Raesman would not pin their safety on Sel’s negligence, so they’ve established sentries all over the mountains neighboring the two countries... it can’t be helped, the attributes of Sel’s residents are too special, spies simply can’t be sent there.

But their mages guarding the sentries often exchange goods with Sel’s Red Robes, so information of general interest flows well.

”However, it seems that Sel wants to test whether Xinbu is still favored by the Weave as before.” Lynn finished the joke before getting to the main point, ”If Edna chooses to revoke the Seven Sisters’ privileges in the Weave, they might invade Agralunde next door again.

After all, if Edna shows obvious discontent towards them, the Undead Tribe likely won’t help these Seven Sisters.”

Hill nodded: ”I think so too, Sazzastan always knows how to exploit loopholes.

However, Edna won’t do anything to them... this time, the Magic Net Followers, really... words fail me.

On the contrary, Elaströ and the rest, though very selfish, do indeed respect Mystra.

Edna doesn’t equate herself with Midnight, so she won’t care about their cautious probing actions.

After all, Midnight stirred up so much trouble, you can’t blame Elaströ and them.”

”That just means Edna’s temperament is more peaceful, more elven in style,” Lynn suddenly spoke up, ”If what was revived was Midnight, or if Black Eye were to revive again, they wouldn’t spare the Seven Sisters who just want to go through the motions... the Chosen were elevated by the deities for their convenience.

If they don’t do what they should, what do they need them for?”

Hill shook his head: ”Now everything is reshuffling, it just depends on what they do from now on.

Elaströ probably won’t sit still.

Her trip to Luskan won’t be just to question Sharol... that’s all meaningless.

Luskan is so close to Hidden Town, she probably wants to see if she can salvage anything.

Or... you let the Undead Tribe inform Edna ahead of time, it’s likely she will soon receive requests from some Chosen wanting to enter the Immortal’s Visit Castle’s Great Library.”

”Huh?” Lynn blinked rapidly, ”But the Nyscroll, I remember Elaströ had seen it!

Windsong Tower... is displaying Black Eye’s portrait!”

Hill glanced at him: ”If you want to see it, go ahead, but don’t force it, looking at that thing too much will harm the soul.

In Agleya’s professions, magic-based professions above Level 12, other professions above Level 16, can apply for a viewing permit at the Immortal Welcoming Castle on their own.

But, they should understand, the Inspector, named Edna, would not tolerate any deceitful methods.

If they’re blocked by the Weave then, they shouldn’t cry injustice.”

To directly offend the Goddess of Magic and be side-lined is only natural, even AO wouldn’t bother.
