Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1430: Chapter 8: A World Called Aesces

This world willing to accept Hill has very strict demands, yet its manner is gentle.

Once all the chaos had settled, Hill, who returned to the top of the tower, found his Magic Tower perched atop a very high cliff, surrounded by a faint mist at the tower’s base, yet it didn’t obstruct his view.

The coastal city about seven kilometers away from the cliff was clearly visible to Hill, whose vision had always been excellent, as if it was right at the bottom of his eyes.

This is a bustling city, teeming with traffic and people.

The attire also gives a surprisingly familiar feeling, as if suddenly transported to the Victorian era... It seemed that those old TV dramas Hill had repeatedly watched flooded into his mind in an instant, especially some men dressed very Sherlock Holmes-like... top hats, evening suits, holding pipes or walking sticks.

”Hill?” a delicate voice interrupted Hill’s trance, ”What are you thinking about? Is it safe now?

I... can come out, right?”

”Purwell...” Hill, with his head lowered, gathered his spirits, ”You can come out, but don’t leave the Magic Tower. The magic power of this world is too low; you need to adapt first.”

”Alright~” Little Whale cheerfully popped out from the skull, ”Then, Hill, can List not come out?”

Hill nodded: ”Eh~ From now on, we’ll have to live on our own... honestly, although it’s just arranging puppets to work, just thinking about it feels troublesome!

I really haven’t cared about life issues for so many years!

It’s like suddenly returning to my youthful days.”

Purwell wagged his tail earnestly, ”I sort of want to see that!

Hill must have been interesting as a child.”

Hill blinked, ”Ah... I have always been obsessed with studying, even as a child.”

Not understanding the grievances and entanglements contained in Hill’s words, Purwell, who has never liked the words ”study”, flew around the puppet in the study once and couldn’t help but ask, ”Why don’t you let the puppet set up the Magic Tower?

Although these lower-level puppets aren’t that smart, they can handle everyday tasks, right?

Or... Hill, are you planning to give up this Magic Tower?”

Hill laughed, ”How could that be? The half-plane is attached to this Magic Tower! It’s just that seeing that somewhat... unfamiliar yet familiar... scene got me a bit emotional!”

”Familiar?” Purwell hung on the window, staring at the city, ”Can’t quite see clearly, but it doesn’t look like Agleya?

Could it be the city of Teraxil?

No... I rather feel it resembles that port in Kalinsan! A place with identical buildings where even locals get lost.

Perhaps it’s the clothes you mean. I see those well-dressed people riding in carriages, wearing somewhat Undead-Tribe-preferred short robes... the tight-fitting kind.

But most people dress like the ordinary folks of Toril... hmm, even less so; their clothes are quite ragged!”

”Toril, after all, is a world tough enough to weave plants into fabrics.” Hill, who had regained his composure, continued, ”The plants of this world certainly aren’t that strong; only specific plants might be used to make clothes.

As for commoners... it’s all the same everywhere. Commoners in Toril, with slightly better circumstances, barely meet their food and drink needs, yet it’s dangerous!

But here! In a world that doesn’t even let me use puppets above level 16, it has to be peaceful.

Tsk~ perhaps most people haven’t even seen Professionals above level 10.”

Hill still harbors resentment toward his puppet limitation... level 16, exactly the baseline for intelligent puppets, the kind that talks, smiles, and knows to work proactively.

The rest would only work according to orders issued by someone.

In the past, they were able to use higher-level puppets in Teraxil precisely because of the abnormally abundant life energy... This world won’t do.

Although Hill is grateful that this world is willing to accept him, it’s not to the extent of consuming the best Energy Barytes.

Others, if used, so be it.

He clasped the pendant around his neck, silently communicating with the Oak Spirit inside... The oak tree, whose body derived from the branch and leaves of the World Tree, is, in some sense, an extension of his body, thus not subjected to restrictions.

Yet as for what’s inside, Hill can only take out the lesser-grade items; not even the Pearls, the top-tier Purifying Water Pearls that Agleya gave him, can be used.

Hill couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

Ever since having the half-plane, Hill naturally stored ample materials there... The primary function of the oak pendant is to provide him with daily essentials and store precious items that he doesn’t wish to part with: not for their price, but their value.

The current pendant, crafted by the Oak Spirit, is like a magical forest... featuring all sorts of rare fruit trees.

Hill tried; he couldn’t even take out a Golden Apple... which merely allows one to temporarily regain a decade of youth, yet even this isn’t permitted!

In this world, Life Extension Medicine must be unimaginably expensive... although he didn’t intend to make money, Hill, who habitually thought in this direction, rubbed his palms and finally decided to do nothing.

After all, he promised not to cause any trouble.

In a low magic world, it’s possible that a person whose time is up living an extra month could trigger a terrifying chain reaction.

Hill flipped through the storage tools in the puppet’s hands... He found it strange, discovering that some items with overly fantasy-style designs were sealed. In the rush earlier, he didn’t look closely.

Hill frowned... This world seems to really dislike surprises.

So when he goes out in the future, he must pay attention to the style of his actions.

Although this world might overlook things due to a sense of kinship with the earth, Hill has always been unwilling to cause trouble for others... especially for those who treat him kindly.

Hill straightforwardly rummaged through all the storage tools that could be used.

What List prepared for Hill, besides various graded tools from the Magic Tower, mainly included clothing fabrics, furniture, small strange objects needed for life, and a large quantity of food and drink.

After all, he is about to arrive in a new world. When packing, List didn’t know if the other party was friendly... And Hill likes to nibble on something whether he’s happy or unhappy.

Hill plans to observe for a while longer.

This new world, its style is somewhat a fusion of magic and machinery... Of course, it’s not the steam era. The energy they use should be a type or several types of mineral equivalent to petroleum.

But after sitting by the window observing for a few days, Hill could see energy equipment being used, including some elegantly styled vehicles... Even though horses were used, the horses were clearly just controlling direction and speed, not bearing much weight.

A beautiful white horse could even drag a carriage as large as a small house along the main road... Judging by the guards in uniform by the carriage and the pedestrians on both sides avoiding it as if fearing something, this is likely a vehicle for the aristocratic class or the army.

Looking at the horse, one could tell it definitely didn’t have the load-bearing capacity, and its muscles were relaxed.

Hill scratched his head, pointed at the carriage, and asked Purwell: ”Can one... like that carriage be made?”

Purwell hung by the window for a long time before softly saying, ”Can it look nicer? Something like the Undead Tribe would do!

It’s so dark and ugly!”

”That shouldn’t be a problem.” Hill could guarantee this point, ”Some smaller carriages are quite exquisite. I just saw one all gleaming silver with patterns on it.

We don’t have to carve randomly; just check what plants are on this mountain, and carve one you find pleasing.

Anyway, if in the future you find something better, we can change it!

We’ll make it two layers, the inner layer mainly for hiding the Magic Tower... I definitely have to carry the Magic Tower around, who knows in future...”

”Sir, can you not say ’who knows’?” Purwell quickly interrupted, ”I’m just staying inside the skull, not dormant!

I still know what’s happening!”

Hill could only fall silent and close his mouth... He suddenly wished to know how Mr. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ persisted in the face of millions and millions of people’s sarcasm.

To be honest, it’s really tough...

Fortunately, basic materials could be used... including the thread from Josse Garden.

This might be because although these things have excellent attributes, they don’t possess particularly unbelievable functions in themselves, just fireproof, waterproof, and resistant to various elements.

Such materials definitely exist in a low magic world, especially an earth attribute world, probably just not in large quantities.

But Hill only intends to keep a low profile, not play any disguise games or travel incognito.

He understands that his temperament and appearance will certainly attract attention... Though he could conceal his appearance, any world would have sensitive individuals, and being discovered in disguise might actually cause more trouble.

If it becomes necessary, Hill would certainly do it.

But how to put it... A low magic world isn’t enough to make him overly cautious.

Everything Hill did was merely out of respect for this friendly world, but if someone here truly acts reckless, he wouldn’t hide.

The world willing to accept Hill’s arrival certainly understands this point.

He seems very confident... meaning that even if this world has its child of the world, the World Will trusts that they won’t provoke Hill.

That’s enough.

Without the Undead Tribe, Hill feels he is quite amicable and doesn’t like stirring trouble.

Toril, such a troublesome world, he’s... Well... Kelben is ill, right?

Even without Hill, Coron wouldn’t let him off!

”Hill.” In the air, circling and observing the plants around the Magic Tower, Purwell suddenly shouted, ”You haven’t said what this world’s name is!”

Hill, sitting amidst piles of various materials, lifted his head: ”Aesces.”
