Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Capítulo 1413: Chapter 1203: Merchant Ships from the Suolong Continent

Hill decided to keep his presence in Agleya to a minimum.

So, no matter what Lynn planned to do, how he tormented his dear brother, Hill didn’t intervene.

Even when the war between the Galle Brothers and Josanie turned Lynn’s garden into ruins, he didn’t say a word and could even smile happily with the crowd of onlooking elves.

Although the Galle Brothers were strong… little Josanie, after all, was a purple fairy dragon! Not only was her use of illusion techniques superb, but she could also use transformation spells.

Even though her excessive love of beauty made her choose creatures like unicorns, the hoof-to-the-face technique was something she probably learned from Lally, especially precise and powerful.

The emissaries from East and West Tethyr arrived in Agleya at this very moment.

Faced with a few angry receptionists with clear hoof marks on their faces, they could only grit their teeth when realizing no official figure came to meet them.

Especially when the elf with the city guard captain’s emblem swaggered past them without even glancing their way, these two teams, who had been secretly competing with each other, finally understood: Agleya had no interest in getting involved in their civil war.

Although the result was not satisfactory, they could still accept it… as long as the other party didn’t get an opportunity either.

As for the usual style of handling those who don’t cooperate with us as potential colluders who need to be dealt with early, no one was foolish enough to bring it up.

After all, Agleya saw no need for it.

The style of that lord’s actions was somewhat deterring… although he indeed wasn’t someone who meddled in others’ business, if you provoke him, your end would be miserable enough.

Many suspected Kelben’s failure was related to him… especially after Miss Edna successfully entered the center of the Weave.

Most believed that Lord Hill must have seen something extraordinary in Edna early on, which is why he first encouraged Laila to take her away from Kelben,

Then, after Laila established herself in Luskan, making it impossible for her to leave, he whisked the beautiful miss away from her mother’s hands… many were convinced Hill must have done something sneaky, otherwise, what mother would abandon such a grown daughter?

It’s not like she couldn’t afford it.

She was the daughter of the richest merchant in Silvermoon City and the Supreme Lady of the Silvermoon Alliance, Elaströ!

No one believed Sharol would do something so unscrupulous just to pocket the small inheritance left to Edna by her biological father.

After all, wealth worth hundreds of thousands of gold coins is hard to imagine for the ordinary person, but Sharol, who grew up in luxury in the Elaströ Silver Palace, shouldn’t care about it, right?

Hill was very dissatisfied when he heard the rumors outside, he indeed knew Edna’s secret, but what did that have to do with him?

He didn’t want to handle this hot potato at all!

The subsequent events, including the Mithril Elves’ fondness for Edna, were all due to this girl’s own ways, weren’t they?

A kind, lovely, smart, and understanding beautiful girl will always have a bit of good luck.

The most important thing is, Sharol was just such a ridiculously stupid and greedy woman!

Why did others target Edna’s father through her back then?

Wasn’t it because she was proud and arrogant yet so shallow to only focus on superficial things?

Completely ignoring the cause and effect… had she used her brain, she should have understood how inconceivable it was for someone to willingly become her husband’s mistress for a bit of money as the dean of the Silvermoon University’s Enchantment Academy…turning the hidden discord between Mystra and Azuth into an overt split on the spot!

This is why the unprepared Elaströ had to choose to completely offend Azuth.

To be honest, when she later agreed to the alliance’s decision to exile Sharol and Edna for a while, it was probably because she wanted her daughter to grow some brains.

As a result, Sharol seemed to have become even more foolish after being soaked in seawater.

Having squandered too much money extravagantly, in order to support the child of her new lover, she directly reached into the property that should have belonged to Edna…although everyone understood the nobles’ shamelessness, usually at least one would leave a fifth of the property to the child as a facade.

Sharol wasn’t even planning on doing that, which is why she chose to divide the family estate before Edna came of age.

Everyone knew what this meant: the familial bond between Edna and Sharol was completely severed, leaving no ties between mother and daughter.

Laila wasn’t unaware of what this meant for Edna…but she cared more about her niece.

Or rather, she thought Edna could survive anyway, it’s just a bit less money…at least she was still alive!

The Hidden Forest was so wealthy, and with the White Dragon Queen there, somehow they could raise this little girl… otherwise, back then when Elvia and Edna stopped ships to charge passing fees, Laila wouldn’t have confidently asked them to let Silvermoon City’s caravans pass.

Of course, Edna also resolutely requested her Mithril Elf teacher to write an official letter rejecting her unreasonable request.

Luskan was not Agleya City, there’s no transit exemption.

Even among the Northern Seven Sisters, those of the Kind Alignment wouldn’t extend their care to a youngster so far removed.

As long as Edna was alive, they wouldn’t interfere with personal matters.

Of course, now, they must all be regretting it.

Serves them right!

Hill felt frustrated thinking about these rumors.

If this goes on, he might become an even scarier conspirator than Kelben!

As for the Shoulong fleet, having taken down a ship from Baldur’s Gate, they arrived in Agleya with great pomp.

Because a certain acquaintance of Hill’s was on board, Marsha still sent the invitation card to the Floating Castle.

The name on the invitation was very familiar.

An Ran.

And An Yanfei… this one even included some sincere greetings in the invitation, including to Purwell.

Hill looked at it for a moment and finally just chose to smile slightly.

On the day he left Shoulong, that country in his heart was no different from the countries of the Ferun Great Land.

In his heart, the deepest imprint left by the journey to Shoulong was only that majestic divine dragon… The giant dragon that walked down from the totem was indeed a kind of shock.

“Anyone can trade fairly in Agleya, even those of you from other continents.

Within Agleya City, we only require alignment, those of the non-Kind Alignment can only trade in the harbor town.” The handsome elf holding the An family’s invitation card held two exquisite silver gift boxes, “This is Lord Hill’s return gift to the An family, hope you enjoy your stay in Agleya.”

An Ran sighed, respectfully accepting the gift boxes: not even a word about being too busy with official duties to meet, it seems that the lord was indeed disappointed with them because of the Benevolence City matter.

Watching the elf’s retreating figure, An Ran held back the impulsive An Yanfei from questioning, smiled at the people watching from other ships, and said with a smile, “Come, let’s see Lord Hill’s return gift.”

Dragging An Yanfei back to the cabin, raising the Isolation Array, An Ran calmly spoke: “Young Master Yanfei, what are you trying to do?

Haven’t you heard of the reputation of that Lord of Agleya?

Could it be you still think he’s the same gentle Archmage who went to Shoulong last time?

He’s someone who can chat and laugh with powerful divine forces, even making them submit to him… Mystra even ascended to the Starry Sky in a small town under his domain, Agleya is still his!”

An Yanfei frowned, puzzled and asked: “No, that’s not the point!

He didn’t just become powerful now.

But, although there hasn’t been much interaction, that Lord Hill is definitely not the kind of person who would be so indifferent to friends coming from afar, even ordinary friends.”

An Ran glanced at the bewildered An Yanfei… The reason for not telling Young Master Yanfei from the start about Lord Hill’s dissatisfaction with the An family during the Benevolence City incident, was in hopes that his sincerity might move the kind-hearted Archmage.

However, since the other party did not accept it, things needed to be clearly explained.

Otherwise, if Young Master Yanfei impulsively asked in person, it would rather arouse the other party’s displeasure.

He took one of the identical gift boxes and handed it to An Yanfei: “Open and see, this is just for the two of us.”

They were two silver storage bracelets, wide bands inlaid with beautiful small sapphires.

An Ran exhaled: “At least Lord Hill left us some face, the matter of Benevolence City hasn’t truly made him loathe our family.”

He couldn’t help but look at An Yanfei: “Seems he noticed the An family’s plight, seeing even you had to travel with the caravan.

Put it on!

With this… at least our An family can have a foothold in ocean trade.

On the seas of Toril, no one will mess with people associated with Lord of Agleya.”

An Yanfei belatedly realized what An Ran’s demeanor signified: “So, on the day Benevolence City had an incident, what exactly happened?”

An Ran shook his head with a wry smile… The An family once thought well, having the eldest son solidly in the Black Cavalry, most family members, especially the Sorcerers, retained, even if the territory and wealth source were temporarily lost, they could rebuild.

But who could have foreseen encountering something like the Magicplague?

The forced closure of Reception Island left their family unable to obtain overseas goods, perhaps due to the dark sacrifice that took place, the surroundings of Benevolence City are continually battered by the Blue Storm.

Yet, despite having many Sorcerers, the An family still couldn’t contact the Ancestral Garden!

Internal strife and external troubles hit all at once, it’s really hard to keep going!

Otherwise, they wouldn’t have organized a fleet directly to Ferun the moment the ocean storm dissipated, other families dispatched ships with subordinates, but who like them, would even summon a legitimate line member holding a public office!

After handing the bracelet over to the perplexed An Yanfei, who had heard the truth, An Ran squeezed out a faint smile: “There’s still a way forward.”
