Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1408: Chapter 1198: People Doubting Their Lives

Oberon was very pleased to take the White Dragon to Neverwinter Forest.

Although he was small, he actually liked large animals... he often traveled on a moose before.

The Lord of Beasts quickly led the fairy spirits of the Floating Castle towards White Dragon Mountain.

”So, is there something going on in Tethyr that you must inform me about?” Hill pondered for a bit before finally realizing that Lynn didn’t just come to tell him that Lady Shaer, who has always maintained her usual style and standard, has caused Tethyr to split.

That Zandala Princess held the Arcanist card, and with Edna returning to the Weave, failure was almost expected... losing only half was because Shaer just wanted a divided Tethyr.

After all, after occupying Chult, there was bound to be conflict with the Amanata believers of Kalinsan... whether the Arcanists would return to the arms of the Old Sun God, whom they betrayed, was uncertain.

Shaer certainly couldn’t allow the Zandala, supported by the Arcanists, to rise to power.

However, the path to power of another queen, though certainly influenced by Shaer’s followers, represented the forces of Shadow Valley.

They were the disciples and grandchildren of Elminster; how could Shaer let them grow unchecked?

What if, amidst the fierce fighting between her followers and those of the Sun God, someone stepped in to eliminate the evil and promote the good? Shaer might flip out.

And Shaer, for the time being, did not want to directly confront the new Goddess of Magic.

Of course, not because of any past friendship or because she found Edna pleasing to the eye... the only exception for the Goddess of the Night may be William and the Undead Tribe he brings along.

Her cautious demeanor was largely due to the fact that in the future Toril, the presence of the Goddess of Magic would inevitably be the strongest.

AO obviously intends to tighten the free-fire rights in Toril.

The suppression of wizards by the Weave outside of Agleya became very strong... so strong that even Hill, who always disregarded the Weave’s spellcasting, could feel it.

Hill could indeed bypass the Weave to cast spells, but... the elemental energy of Toril was no longer so easily mobilized by him.

This episode of Magicplague almost completely reorganized the elemental energy of Toril... the reorganized elemental energy was now locked into grids under the name of the Weave.

Perhaps in a few hundred years, even the Element Lords entering Toril would not be able to cast spells at will.

Though Agleya remained relatively free, Hill had a feeling that he wanted to leave entirely.

But he still had to remain in Toril for at least a year or so.

Moreover, when he leaves, he absolutely could not arrogantly leave through the Stellar Realm or Star Gate.

Although many matters seemed unrelated to him on the surface, if someone carefully sorted out the connections, anyone could be sure that he who brought the Undead Tribe was the real culprit.

Although Coron and Shaer, who was having a romantic relationship with Teraxil Divinity, were primarily responsible, anyone capable of troubling these two big players would certainly not forget to deal with Hill, the obvious instigator.

Not to mention those who didn’t dare to confront Shaer and Coron... while they didn’t dare to act against him openly, they would undoubtedly engage in some minor schemes.

There’s one more important point.

Hill had to ensure Fran left safely first.

As long as Hill didn’t leave, nobody cared whether Fran left or not.

But if Hill left before Fran... his grandfather might be held accountable.

Although Fran’s strength wasn’t lesser than Hill’s, sometimes strength alone couldn’t make those who considered themselves strong back down, but the public protection of strong divine power could.

”In the Sword Bay area, Agleya is now the most powerful force, Hill,” Lynn interrupted Hill’s thoughts with his exclamation, ”Both East and West Tethyr have sent diplomatic notes to us.

Their content is roughly the same, only requesting us to reject contact with exactly the opposite parties.”

”Agleya does not engage in any political behaviors,” Hill quickly said, ”Nor do we make national deals.

The requirement to enter Agleya is just about the Faction, aside from some... ah, right, the previously mentioned refusal involving the followers of Heim doesn’t need to be stressed anymore.

So... it’s only about Faction.”

”I knew you would say that.

But they have both offered very favorable conditions. I had to tell you, I can’t make this decision on my own,” Lynn smiled.

”These matters need you to decide on your own from now on!” Hill said earnestly.

Lynn sighed: ”You have made up your mind to leave, huh? You could live very well in Toril.

Even if the Path of Destiny came again, you have so much strong divine power to support you...”

”Lynn, I am a mage.” Hill gently interrupted him, ”The future of Toril is increasingly unsuitable for a mage who pursues freedom.”

Lynn lowered his eyebrows, expressed with melancholy in his voice: ”The life of an elf is always filled with farewells, but I really don’t want to say goodbye to you.”

”I’m not leaving forever,” Hill smiled wryly, ”As long as Agleya is here, I will certainly return.

Moreover, I’m not going immediately, I need to wait until everything calms down before I leave.”

Lynn nodded somewhat unhappily: ”I actually prepared myself mentally for this, had it not been for the sudden opening of the Path of Destiny, you probably would have left long ago.

But... these past few years have given me a bit of luxury.”

”When I return to Teraxil, you can visit with the Undead Tribe! That’s a Star Gate set up by Coron, it won’t block you,” Hill earnestly offered.

”Are you going back to Teraxil soon?” Lynn asked.

”Ah, probably soon?

I want to find an uninhabited universe, especially one that’s about to collapse, to get some Mithril Energy Cores.

This stuff, as long as the materials are sufficient, should be completed in about ten years.

If nothing unexpected happens, at most twenty years, I’ll return to Teraxil to sort out the harvests of these years.”

Lynn nodded: ”Then we’ll meet in Teraxil in twenty years?”

”Don’t say it like I’m leaving right now.” Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”At least within half a year, I definitely won’t go.

After all... Toril still has to be chaotic for a while!”

”By the way, do I still need to manage Hidden Town?” Lynn couldn’t help asking, ”That’s...”

”If she doesn’t speak up, just follow the old rules. Anyway, the notice has been sent over, whether she wants to follow it or not, just don’t care.” Hill naturally understood Lynn’s dilemma.

In theory, as long as Hidden Town and Luskan don’t announce their separation from Agleya’s forces, the two mayors should follow Lynn’s will in matters.

But now, Luskan will surely look at the signals from Hidden Town to act.

Hill originally estimated that when Laila’s son grows up, maybe Luskan should declare independence, but now, it’s all turned into an unknown.

Edna is still the mayor, would Laila dare to go independent?

Lynn looked at the sky bewilderedly: ”I fled embarrassed from Eternity Island 200 years ago, determined to make them look at me with new eyes, never imagined that one day, among my subordinates, there’s the avatar of the Goddess of Magic, and the Chosen of the Goddess of Magic.

What kind of situation is this!”

”What does Miliel think?” Hill couldn’t help asking.

”Miliel doesn’t have time for me now, he’s comforting Oghma!” Lynn suddenly became cheerful, very obviously gloating, ”Is there any library stronger than the Immortal Welcoming Castle in Toril now?

Even if Oghma builds ten Candlekeeps, it can’t compete with Nyscroll!

The God of Knowledge now gets furious when he thinks of what he gave up to preserve Candlekeep, burning with anger. Raging mad.

Ha~

Miliel can’t do anything either!

His friendship with the current Goddess of Magic is so shallow that it can only be conveyed through me... not to mention Oghma~

His scroll scholars can’t even get close.”

That’s the Main God of your Miliel... and Miliel has always been devoted, is it good to gloat like this?

Lynn seemed to sense Hill’s confusion and straightforwardly said, ”Miliel and Oghma indeed have a deep bond.

But we bard followers and those arrogant scholars of the God of Knowledge have always been at odds.

You should understand~

Bards have always been at the bottom of magic-based professions, no matter who they are, they come and give us a disdainful look.

Not to mention those old guys who consider themselves scholars of heaven!

Although I haven’t interacted much with Edna... but the Undead Tribe protecting her was hired by me.

My brother is her teammate, my friend, more is her acknowledged lord.

Look~ Hill, I’m now the shining light of bards!

Going out, I’m radiant and vibrant.”

Hill couldn’t help but press his forehead, Lynn always surprises him, letting him feel that elves are a race that loves watching the fun: ”Can Miliel see your performance?”

”The Singer never cares whether we respect Oghma. That’s his own business, even as his Chosen, we don’t need to follow his path.” Lynn curled his lips, ”Otherwise, why are there so many elves willing to follow his footsteps?”

”Leonard?” Hill suddenly remembered, ”Still staying at your place? His teammates...”

”He... is holding the Fairy Dragon and doubting life! When I threw that sword to him, he didn’t react at all.” Lynn joyfully mocked his brother, ”Once he understands, he’ll probably go home to see our father.

The things Haber Family did, our father must seem pretty sad, that sword should offer some comfort to him.

As for those two Quel Senta mages, they’ve already become complete fools, performing worse than Leon.

I guess they can’t understand or reckon whether their Quel Senta gained or lost this time.

After all, those scraps were worked in front of Edna.

Nasir has disappeared though.”

”Shaer quite values him, probably sent him off for work.” Hill thought for a moment and said, ”It’s rare for Shaer to appear so expanded in influence, probably short on manpower.

She quite admires Nasir.”
