Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 1431: Chapter 9: The World of Crystalstone Technology

”Huh?” Purwell couldn’t help but mumble, ”Is it that straightforward? Naming themselves the world of Oasis?”

”Do you know the biggest difference between low magic world and high magic world?

The names of high magic worlds basically come from the Creator or the most powerful Primordial God... whereas low magic worlds are often named by the will of mortals.

The name Oasis... only proves that in this world, not all cities are as lucky as the one under our noses, located by the sea.” Hill sorted the materials at his feet, ”This must be a world with a vast inland, but mostly desert.

That’s why Oasis is regarded as the most important existence in human life.

I need to prepare more Purified Water Beads, luckily this thing is of a low level, any Mage can make it.”

”But there still needs to be water in the air, right?” Purwell said, not too pleased, ”Though I’m no longer a living whale, still... I can’t get to like a world like this.”

”So we need to make more while we’re here by the sea!” Hill tugged at his pendant, finally understanding why high-level Condensed Water Pearls were also banned... things with too strong condensation effects are also a harm to a water-scarce desert.

”Can you still communicate with the Elemental Realm?” Purwell thought of the water supplier Hill has always relied on.

”I can, but...” Hill shook his head slightly, ”but the speed is very slow, it requires almost ten times the Mana as before.”

He looked at his fingers: ”I guess I understand why he’s willing to let me in, he didn’t seal the Ring of Winter after all...”

”Not sealed? Then... is it usable?” Purwell, knowledgeable about water element Treasures, asked, ”With little water in the air, it’s also tough for the Ring of Winter to produce a cold wave, right?”

”Even if it’s little, water is still there, it can’t be completely absent.

It’s just that, the cooldown period is a bit long, I can’t really estimate it, have to use it to find out.” Hill raised his hand, the golden ring shining brightly under the sunlight, ”Is this... letting me perform artificial rain?”

”Aesces... Hill doesn’t seem angry though! Why?

Usually, you hated when people schemed against you!” Purwell asked curiously.

”This can’t be called scheming, just having a request.” Hill smiled, ”He agreed to let me in for exploration, if I’m willing, leaving him some water would be best.

He didn’t force it, just hinted.

This approach I can accept.

A truly... seemingly demand-less world is what’s terrifying.

Don’t forget, when Toril allows entry, it seems neither needy nor demanding.”

Purwell immediately shut his mouth... Toril indeed opened his arms welcoming any beings, regardless of good or evil, yet those who exit unscathed are truly few.

Usually, it’s the Wise Ones like Fran who, upon noticing something amiss, resolutely won’t stay in Toril for over fifty years... even for a world like Toril, it usually takes a hundred and eighty years to fully imbue those Extraordinary Mages.

Needless to say, Fran, seeing Hill’s constant vigilance, being well-aware of his grandson, didn’t even dig in any passing mines!

He would rather collect little by little in the starry sky than dig deep into Toril.

Hill pondered about this world called Aesces... not sure whether the controller is he or she, but the personality is gentle yet firm.

And very proud.

Though there were requests from Hill, there was no intent to coerce... otherwise, Hill wouldn’t have been sent to the water-abundant seaside with his Magic Tower.

After all, this is a world with Magic Power, as long as there are enough water molecules in the air, even a magic apprentice can condense a Water Ball.

And only informed Hill of which level things could not be used... hinting thusly to Hill, it’s best not to use spells above that level.

Even without using Premium Crystal Stones, with plenty of High-grade Energy Crystals, Hill could certainly break through the world’s Level cap to cast spells.

But Hill felt no absolute bind.

Aesces gave him the most tolerant restrictions, and also showed absolute confidence in himself... even if Hill did something out of line, he could handle the situation.

Thinking of this, Hill couldn’t help but laugh: This style of doing things, really a bit like a tsundere young lady.

”Hill?” Purwell asked curiously, ”You seem to quite like this world.”

”For someone coming from Toril, encountering a first world as normal as this, how can one not be filled with emotion~” Hill said with a smile on his face, ”My carriage should be done in three days, so, have you seen any patterns you liked lately?”

”Ah...” Purwell said seriously, ”Can I choose at will?”

”Of course not.” Hill lowered his head while crafting the carriage’s compartments... this was the most important part, having to accommodate countless Space Crystals in a most narrow space, to be expanded to fit his Magic Tower, thus demanding high requirements for the walls.

Moreover, once the carriage compartment encounters a problem, Hill can always grab this interlayer and take it away... Although he has enough strength, if the interlayer is too large, it’s uncomfortable to lift.

But he has no other way, because of the half-plane hanging, even if Hill organizes the pendant space to make it large enough, this Magic Tower still can’t fit in.

He said nonchalantly, ”In a world with low magic power, it’s easy to establish an effective order.

Aesces is that strict kind... The deities have already distanced themselves from the world and can only descend divine arts.

Mages above level 10 are very rare, so even a level 8 mage can use group attack magic, the Knight Corps has enough ability to counteract it.

The most powerful so-called Sage is only capped at level 15, a 7-circle mage... whose threat level is just okay.

The main combat method of mages is still controlling machinery and developing war tools.

So, crystal stone technology here is quite developed.

The crest used by nobles, even if from different countries, cannot be repeated. They have a God of Runes... The crest can only be used after being registered in his temple.

For repetition... either the earlier comers’ entire family has been extinct for over a hundred years, or they must change it themselves, especially if it looks similar, that must seek the consent of the original owner.

So in this world, those similar-looking crests basically all originate from the same family lineage.”

”Energy crystal?” Purwell didn’t care about crests. At worst, he could use the most common wildflowers and weeds from the roadside, which nobles would never want to use things always trampled underfoot.

His attention shifted to another side, asking very puzzled, ”A low magic world... still has energy crystals?”

This type...” Hill thought for a moment and pulled out a huge bluish-green stone wall from the ring. On the wall were some raw stones emitting a white sheen.

Energy ores, in fact, are just gemstone mines containing magic power. Basically, there are dozens of raw stones of various sizes in a vein. One has to cut off the stony exterior before use.

When mining in that universe of Eosca, Hill for the sake of convenience, mined one section at a time; after all, he was strong and could easily break these hard veins into several sections.

He pointed at the bluish-white stones around those energy crystals on the stone wall and said, ”Their energy crystal refers to this kind.”

Purwell flew over, ”Hm? There is indeed energy reaction... but at most, it can be used to release a level 2-circle spell, right?

No, if it’s an ordinary mage, a level 1-circle spell would be good enough... what use does it have?”

”But in this world, such level stones are found everywhere.” Hill tilted his head and said, ”Anything, when in large quantities, has considerable use.

Thus, this world has well-organized armies of tens of thousands, and they are very orderly.

Did you see those knights in black uniforms, wearing brimless hats? Those appear to be the guard corps of this city; I estimated, there must be about 3000 people.

In Toril, the armies of those small kingdoms probably don’t have as many.”

Hill contemplated, here the crystals are like solid petroleum.

A liter of petroleum may not be useful, but, what dozens of oil mines can achieve, he can certainly comprehend.

If energy crystals weren’t all over this world, it would probably have been constantly at war; it wouldn’t be so peaceful.

”Then, are the nations of this world basically centered around rivers and oceans?” Purwell asked, shaking his tail.

”The closer to the sea, the less energy crystals.” Hill laughed, ”Otherwise, how could places like these mountains we’re in have no mineral resources?”

Though Aesces World, only told him some basic information, adding to his observations of the city below in the past two days, Hill still figured out a lot.

The types of professionals in this world aren’t as numerous as in Toril, especially magic-based professions.

They naturally have thieves, knights, warriors, and all other weird professions evolve from these three basics.

But the magic-based professions only have mages, priests, and magicians. There might be various branch professions in between, but they can’t get away from these three suffixes.

Professions like bards and dancers are basically replaced by thieves... Professionals in a low magic world are quite valuable; even thieves, once they become professionals, their work mostly turns into spy-type intelligence roles.

Singing and dancing performers in small taverns, prone to being taken advantage of, if they truly become professionals one day, will quickly switch to a better job.

Even in the army, anyone who can hold the job of warrior, regardless of what they did before, will immediately become a mid-level officer.

Most priests also know only a few level 0-circle divine arts... Deities are completely detached from the world, making it not so easy and free to promote believers. Priests who can perform 1-circle divine arts are honored as priests and oversee a city’s church.

After all, there are quite many cities in this world.
