Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1393: Chapter 723: She Takes Action (2)

Yin Linglin sprang up: Premiere? Right now, we’re not even sure if the three of us can attend the premiere.

Zhou Yun: ? Why?

Yin Linglin said: Why else? Because of this damn photo, now the foreign media are labeling us as fascists, they’re very resistant to us, even the Venice International Film Festival officials have communicated this to President Yao, suggesting we shouldn’t participate in any official events.

Zhou Yun was immediately taken aback: What? The festival officials said this?

She was utterly astonished.

Zhou Yun pondered for a long time and decided to write an email to the Art Director of the Venice International Film Festival, Clint Bruster.

She knew how important this opportunity tomorrow was for the three actors.

She also deeply hoped to see more Chinese faces on the international stage.

Although her relationship with He Xuran and the others was a bit complicated, not exceptionally good, and some even had disputes, at this time, due to this non-subjective mistake, Zhou Yun still wanted to give them a hand.

She had met Clint Bruster before, knew each other, and would occasionally greet each other and exchange views on films.

Clint Bruster had always been following Zhou Yun’s works.

Zhou Yun hoped that through Clint Bruster’s connections, she could at least change the official stance.

Zhou Yun carefully explained the background and origin of the photo and sincerely expressed that the three of them were the most prominent young actors in the country, with countless fans awaiting their appearance at the Venice International Film Festival. They could bring significant attention to the Venice International Film Festival in China. Most importantly, every cinema person dreams of participating in such a top film festival. The opportunity is so precious. If this was a deliberate group photo, if they were really fascists, deserving punishment would be fitting. But this was merely an unintentional mistake. They thought they encountered a friendly foreigner and took a photo with this foreigner. In fact, they were also victims of deception.

After sending the email, Clint Bruster did not reply.

It’s late at night, he might have gone to bed.

Zhou Yun didn’t know what impact her email could have, but at least she did all she could. What happens next depends on what others say.

Zhou Yun went back to sleep.

At eight the next morning, Zhou Yun finally woke up.

She was concerned about the email and checked it first thing.

Clint Bruster replied to her email 30 minutes ago: Zhou Yun, would you mind if I publish your email officially online? I hope everyone can hear your voice on this matter.

Zhou Yun fell into deep thought.

She got out of bed to freshen up, thinking about this issue all the while.

Clint Bruster was also taking a risk.

If he allowed the three of them to continue appearing in the official events of the Venice International Film Festival, the festival might be attacked, deemed as supporting these fascists.

Yet, Zhou Yun firmly believed that if someone is to be judged, it must rely on the truth, the genuine truth, not just a snippet.

Zhou Yun forwarded the email to Zhou Lan, writing: Sister Lan, I wish to agree. Can you check if there’s anything inappropriate in this paragraph?

Zhou Yun didn’t dwell on how Zhou Lan would feel after receiving the message.

Her immediate reaction would surely be, ”Why is Zhou Yun bothering with this nonsense?”

Zhou Yun also wondered whether she should be involved in this matter.

Why intervene?

How is it related to her?

But Zhou Yun thought about how the three of them, like herself, were actors in the same film. In today’s highly politically correct era, they share the same glory and shame. Zhou Yun didn’t want to pass such a straightforward judgment on them, as it would also affect the film itself.

Besides putting aside these utilitarian thoughts, Zhou Yun inherently wanted to do so.

It wasn’t about drawing the sword to help, nor about being kind to others.

Zhou Yun just felt it was something she should do.

If her heart told her to do it, then she shouldn’t hesitate out of fear of this or that.

To clarify the truth of a matter, to uphold the principles she believed in, this was extremely important to her.
