Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1387: Chapter 719: Play (Part 2)

Zhi Wei said, ”I’ll send you the story outline later.”

Zhou Yun was taken aback.

”Hmm?”

Chen Wenjun smiled and said, ”Here’s the thing, before writing this screenplay, Mr. Zhi Wei told me he really hopes to invite you to act.”

Zhou Yun was stunned again.

She said, ”President Chen, but—”

”Xiao Yun, rest assured, you don’t have to worry about the schedule, the screenplay isn’t fully written yet and preparations haven’t formally started. As long as you act, we’ll coordinate with your timing,” Chen Wenjun said.

Zhou Yun was amused and exasperated.

”President Chen, so all this time you invited me for dinner because of this,” Zhou Yun teased Chen Wenjun with a light chuckle.

Chen Wenjun said, ”Oh, Xiao Yun, inviting you to dinner is one thing, discussing the screenplay is another; we don’t separate them so clearly.”

Zhou Yun chuckled lightly and said, ”You bosses always say it’s not so clear at times like this.”

Chen Wenjun chuckled and said, ”The key is I invited Mr. Zhi Wei today, giving me confidence. Surely you’ll be interested in Mr. Zhi Wei’s screenplay.”

Zhi Wei waved his hand, saying, ”That’s not necessarily true. Every screenwriter wants to write for an actress like Miss Zhou Yun, she doesn’t lack for my screenplay.”

Zhou Yun wondered, are these two putting on a double act here?

She said helplessly, ”Mr. Zhi Wei, please don’t say that. I have a special liking for your scripts. No matter how many screenwriters want to help me, if it’s your script, it’ll always take priority in my consideration.”

Chen Wenjun clicked his tongue and said, ”Mr. Zhi Wei, see, only you can hear such words from Zhou Yun. I’ve never heard her talk to me like that.”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”How would I dare say such words to President Chen? If I did, you’d dare to hand me ten screenplays to act in,” Zhou Yun jested, ”I’d better stay safe.”

Zhou Yun’s words made Chen Wenjun laugh, saying, ”Good, it seems I’m already a miser in your mind.”

Zhou Yun: ”Not quite, not quite. President Chen doesn’t need to say that, but I’m not taking risks. Imagine, I’m filming in Africa and you come over inviting me to play ’Moon Sinking at Sea’; if I didn’t agree, you wouldn’t leave. I got scared.”

”If you don’t act in this play, it’ll be a real pity,” Chen Wenjun said, ”I’ve said it, this series will definitely become a classic.”

There’s been no classic spy drama domestically for a long time.

There used to be many classics, but fewer in recent years. It’s rare to have one or two, but their reputations don’t match those of the past.

Of course, this is normal. Creating a classic isn’t easy.

Just like Zhou Yun who’s filmed so many movies, won awards, and had hit works, but to say which are classics, it’s probably just ”Heart Inquiry” trending towards that status, becoming a classic in public recognition. Besides that, whether it’s ”Life,” ”Behind the Scenes,” or ”Deep Sea,” although they were popular and well-received, they fall short of being classics; it’s not something that can be hyped, it’s public perception.

Is this series a classic? What is your first reaction when mentioned? That is the public’s answer.

A ”classic” that needs to be proven by ratings or data isn’t truly a classic.

Zhou Yun didn’t really think ”Moon Sinking at Sea” was that good.

The screenplay is good, but not to that extent.

Its strength lies in being solid and progressively layered, with both character relationships and plot structure fitting tightly, advancing and retreating appropriately.

Zhou Yun believes this series will perform well. As for being a classic, she wouldn’t dare to think about it; it’s something that can only be stumbled upon.

After having dinner with Chen Wenjun and Zhi Wei, Zhou Yun returned to the hotel.

She went to her room, where the shooting notification for tomorrow was placed on the table.

Zhou Yun didn’t have formal filming scheduled for tomorrow, but needed to do styling and take makeup shots.

Previously, Zhou Yun had tried, but it was always done by the team traveling to Zhou Yun’s location, never completely finalized.

Zhou Yun’s styling in this series won’t change much because the story takes place over just a few days on a ship.

After discussing with the stylist and makeup artist, she ended up using a more vibrant makeup look.
