Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1370: Chapter 713: Resources and Connections (3)

Because she just had a baby, she can’t go outside, so she has to stay in bed, feeling quite idle these days.

Zhou Lan said, ”I brought you a script. You can read it during this time. I’ve lined up a role for you in a show that starts filming in the second half of next year, giving you plenty of time to prepare.”

Yuk Chu was very surprised.

”It starts filming in the second half of next year? Is the script already finished?”

Zhou Lan said, ”Yes, because the production team is waiting for the male lead’s schedule.”

”Who is the male lead?” Yuk Chu asked curiously.

Such a big name that the crew would wait a whole year just for him.

Zhou Lan said, ”Gu Huaichun.”

Yuk Chu was even more surprised.

”Gu Huaichun?”

Zhou Lan laughed, ”Unexpected, right?”

”Definitely didn’t expect it.”

”It’s a project produced by Yuehai himself, with Gu Huaichun as the lead, and you’re playing the female lead. Besides you, there’s another female lead, played by Lew Qingqing,” Zhou Lan briefly introduced the cast, ”It’s adapted from a major IP, and apart from the three of you, they’ve invited several seasoned actors for support.”

”What kind of show is it?” Yuk Chu asked, her curiosity piqued by Zhou Lan’s words.

”’Endless Thoughts,’” Zhou Lan replied, ”A fantasy drama adapted from a wildly popular game, it’s set to air on major networks.”

Yuk Chu: ”Wow, I’ve heard of this game, it’s often on the hot search.”

”Yes, when we worked on ’Deep Sea’ before, both Xu Jinbo and Cui Xidong admired you a lot, so when preparing this project, they specifically asked to work with you again. The character was also specially created for you during the writing process,” Zhou Lan said, ”Don’t worry, this script’s character is original and based on the IP’s world, so there won’t be any game fan backlash.”

Yuk Chu laughed.

”Even if it attracts criticism, I’d still want to act in such a big IP project,” Yuk Chu said.

Zhou Lan: ”This show is getting a lot of attention. You should start reading the script. We’ll talk again after your recovery period.”

”Alright.” Yuk Chu’s eyes sparkled even brighter.

At this moment, Yin Zhou walked in from outside.

”Xiao Yun, Sister Lan, you’re here,” Yin Zhou greeted with a delighted smile.

Zhou Yun teased, ”Brother Zhou, were you sneaking off somewhere alone?”

Yin Zhou said, ”Went to buy a few books, Chuchu saw some online she wanted to read, so I got them for her.”

Yuk Chu emphasized, ”I’m really too bored.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Read some books, watch some shows, and time will fly.”

”And isn’t Yin Zhou here with you?” Zhou Lan said, ”Take good care of yourself. By the way, I found a few caregivers for you. When do you want to meet them? You can pick one; they all come recommended by friends, trustworthy people used by their families.”

Yuk Chu immediately expressed her heartfelt gratitude.

”Sister Lan, you’re a lifesaver. Yin Zhou and I have been worried about this and haven’t found anyone suitable.”

”Meet them first,” Zhou Lan said, ”Maybe the ones I found aren’t suitable either.”

”I trust Sister Lan’s judgment. I’m sure the ones you found will be perfect.”

Leaving the hospital, Zhou Yun said to Zhou Lan, ”I’ve arranged to have dinner with Director Kang. Do you want to join us, Sister Lan?”

Zhou Lan shook her head.

”I have dinner plans with Xu Jinbo.”

”Then we’ll have to go our separate ways,” Zhou Yun said with a smile.

Zhou Lan said, ”When you’re having dinner with Director Kang, try to find out about his other upcoming projects for me. Knowing some information will help me see if there are any roles suitable for us.”

Zhou Yun agreed.

The ’Chen Yin’ film that Zhou Yun worked on with Kang Xin hasn’t aired yet.

However, Kang Xin is already preparing for his next production, which stars Wang Jing, called ’Elm Spirit.’

It’s a historical drama with a touch of fantasy. The male lead is Ren Fei, a powerhouse actor who starred in a low-budget film a year ago that unexpectedly became a box office hit, making him famous. He has since caught the attention of major productions. In reality, this is an ensemble drama, not just a single male lead. Besides Ren Fei, there are powerful actors like Qin Lan, Liu Sucheng, and Wei Chen. Wang Jing is the fifth lead, and although nominally the female lead, her role has the heaviest screen time among the female characters.

The drama is backed by a solid team, which is why Zhou Lan considers it so important.

Besides Wang Jing, there are many significant characters with substantial parts, and Kang Xin has been busy meeting actors for these roles.

After meeting, Kang Xin talked about the challenges of casting.

”There’s a role for a teenage boy that I’ve seen over a hundred candidates for, but none have been particularly fitting,” Kang Xin said. ”Finding an actor of that age with skilled acting is very difficult.”

Zhou Yun chimed in, ”Shall I recommend an actor for you? Someone I performed with in ’Falling Leaves.’”
