Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1367: Chapter 712: Choosing Scripts (3)

Lu Zhongting chuckled.

”I know, I was just mentioning it to you.”

”I say, are you two actors?” Xiao Kui suddenly turned around to ask them.

Lu Zhongting and Huang Zicheng both froze.

Xiao Kui said, ”I accidentally overheard your conversation just now.”

There was nothing to hide about this.

Huang Zicheng nodded.

”Two not-so-famous actors,” he said.

Xiao Kui had an expression of ”just as I thought”, ”I knew it, you two are so handsome, it would be a pity not to be actors.”

Huang Zicheng shook his head with a smile.

Xiao Kui curiously asked again, ”The Sister Xiao Yun you mentioned just now, is that Zhou Yun?”

When it comes to Zhou Yun, both Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting were cautious and didn’t easily answer questions about her.

”Huh?” Huang Zicheng played dumb.

Xiao Kui said, ”Didn’t you just mention ’Eighth Heartbeat’? I’ve watched that series, and the female lead is Zhou Yun, right?”

Xiao Kui’s eyes lit up.

Huang Zicheng: ”Uh, you heard wrong, we weren’t talking about that.”

Xiao Kui looked at them confusedly.

”Really? Why do I feel like that’s exactly what I heard?”

Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting exchanged a glance, both seeing in each other’s eyes the meaning of needing to quickly escape from there.

Lu Zhongting took out his phone to pay the bill.

”We have some things to do, we should be going.”

Xiao Kui seeing they were leaving, could only say: ”Oh come on, you two, wait a minute, don’t go, I won’t ask anymore.”

Lu Zhongting said seriously, ”No, we really have things to do, we have an appointment with a producer for an audition.”

The two left the bar.

Huang Zicheng glanced sideways at Lu Zhongting and said, ”You’re something else, coming up with an audition as an excuse, who auditions this late at night?”

Lu Zhongting: ”Just random pretext, but I think she bought it.”

”She pretended to believe it, and you actually believed it,” Huang Zicheng gave Lu Zhongting a disdainful glance.

Lu Zhongting: ”...”

Huang Zicheng said: ”We shouldn’t come back to this bar next time.”

Lu Zhongting said: ”Then quickly find us a new hangout spot in the next two months.”

Huang Zicheng nodded, ”Sure, so what now?”

”Buy something to drink back home,” Lu Zhongting said helplessly.

Huang Zicheng: ”Let’s go.”

The two turned and headed to a nearby supermarket.

”What about you? Have you settled on your next project?” Lu Zhongting asked Huang Zicheng.

Huang Zicheng shook his head and said, ”No, Sister Lan looked at a few scripts for me, said they weren’t good, better not to act in them, and lined up a few variety show’s guest appearances for me to record.”

”If Sister Lan says it’s not good, then it’s indeed not worth acting,” Lu Zhongting said, ”You see last month, Xin Zhike was mocked by quite many people.”

”Huh? What happened?” Huang Zicheng wasn’t aware of this.

Lu Zhongting was also surprised, ”You really don’t know? He was in a drama last month, playing the number one handsome man in ancient costume, but due to styling reasons, he got mocked as the number one ugly man in ancient costume.”

Huang Zicheng actually didn’t know.

But in today’s film market, such incidents happen quite often.

Xin Zhike himself is definitely not ugly, but his looks don’t suit ancient costume. When accepting this role, his agent’s team thought it seemed like a good production that might blow up, so they helped him take the role. The production thought among the available choices, Xin Zhike had the most potential to become popular, so they chose him. There are many, many considerations in project collaborations, but whether someone fits a role often becomes secondary.

Sister Lan places significant importance on the suitability of the role and the actor’s image when choosing scripts for them.

If a role isn’t suitable, Sister Lan would never let them take on that project.

The reason Lu Zhongting accepted that fantasy series was very much because Sister Lan thought it suited him and told him, ”I think starring in this series can help boost your profile, the male and female leads are top-tier stars, and the attention will be huge; your character setting and image are both great, even if fantasy dramas often bomb in reputation, as long as you stand out and get recognized, that’s enough. I believe you should act in it; this series can help you step up a level.”

An agent like Sister Lan always considers issues from the most practical standpoint for the actors.

Sister Lan said, ”I know, you might not want to act in this genre, you’re different from Zicheng, you have higher ambitions than him, but, we have to take it one step at a time, playing by the industry’s rules first until we reach that level.”

She persuaded Lu Zhongting.
