Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1296: Chapter 689: Wrapping Up One After Another

A narcissistic personality is definitely not a likable trait.

Zhou Yun doesn’t usually like narcissism in a person.

Li Rui blatantly praised his script as ”so good,” and even though it’s true, Zhou Yun found it a bit ”off-putting.”

The creator and the script are deeply intertwined and influence each other.

Zhou Yun thought she might need to speak a bit more clearly.

”Li Rui, it’s a good script, but finding actors for a script also depends on fate. Just because a script is excellent doesn’t mean it can make any actor drop everything to take it on.”

”If an actor can’t prioritize the script, then what actor is he?” Li Rui retorted without hesitation.

Zhou Yun pressed her forehead with her hand, somewhat troubled.

She had worked with several young directors before, whether it was self-centric Wen Bing or the very proud Xue Qin, each having their issues, but none were as aggressive as Li Rui.

Actually, Zhou Yun could feel that Li Rui’s aggressiveness wasn’t particularly directed at anyone.

He might just be simply perplexed and says whatever comes to his mind, but it can still be uncomfortable.

Zhou Yun began contemplating whether Li Rui could successfully finish directing the film if he was to do so.

Or is there another possibility that no one could work with him at all?

Zhou Lan looked at Li Rui and felt she needed to give this ”outspoken” young man a reality check.

She said, ”For actors of the level of Zhang Hongyu and Song Chi, do you think they lack good scripts?”

Li Rui smiled mockingly and said, ”If they didn’t lack good scripts, then why have the films they’ve made in recent years been so dull?”

”...” Zhou Yun looked at the young director in front of her and suddenly felt some disappointment.

She could accept someone with a high opinion of themselves, but she couldn’t accept someone lifting themselves by putting others down.

Li Rui seemed to disdain everyone and everything, believing nothing compared to himself.

Is this trait really something that can be overlooked?

Zhou Yun pondered this question again.

An actor, due to the nature of their profession, is destined to work incessantly with different personalities and assorted people.

Therefore, their level of acceptance often needs to be higher, and they can’t afford to be too picky.

However, Li Rui’s demeanor led Zhou Yun into deep contemplation.

This meeting with Li Rui made Zhou Yun want to back out.

She suddenly understood why those companies before had all given up on him.

Even a talented young man like Li Rui wasn’t accepted by Yuh Huaijiang.

On the way back, Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan were silent for a long time.

After about five minutes, Zhou Lan said, ”I didn’t expect this person to be so self-important.”

Zhou Yun laughed helplessly, ”I’m just like those bosses now, wanting to buy his script but not wanting to collaborate with him any further.”

Zhou Lan said, ”He’s too unruly.”

Zhou Yun nodded, saying, ”I’m not sure I can always keep my composure.”

If Zhou Yun truly intended to invest, she could foresee many challenges ahead, and there would be many conflicts with Li Rui to resolve.

”What do you think? Are you still planning to continue investing in this young man?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun showed an expression of being at a loss of what to do.

”I haven’t decided.”

If she was 90% sure of wanting to invest before leaving, now it had dropped to 30%. This 30% was due to her reluctance to abandon the script.

”Is he in contact with any other film companies?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan: ”As far as I know, probably not. With his self-important nature, even if he is in touch with other film companies, it’s likely hard to make it work.”

”Sigh.”

Zhou Yun was now truly caught in hesitation.

At noon, Zhou Yun had lunch with Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan said, ”Actually, from my perspective, I would advise you to let it go. There’s no need for us to take risks for such a person. The script is good, but it has no relation to us. We’ve already done our best. If Li Rui were easier to work with and not so extreme, you’d definitely help.”

Zhou Yun felt a bit disheartened.

Probably still due to being unable to let go of her appreciation and love for a good script, she didn’t want to see a script like ”Above the Dust” end up only gathering dust in a box or drawer, never seeing the light of day.
